My worst fear came true. My kids were both exposed to lice from a play date with their cousin who had a break out from her school. For those of you insistent on learning more before you make the call, here's how our story played out: It was noon on a Friday when we received the dreaded call from school that our 6-year-old daughter had lice. My wife and I were both pretty panicked (that's an understatement actually --- we were freaking out) and really had no idea what to do or where to even begin. By chance, my wife stumbled upon Bug Adieu online. Thank goodness she did. Sonia was at our house later that afternoon and took care of EVERYTHING. Sonia checked and treated both of our children (ages four and six) and both me and my wife inside of three hours, and when she left the house, all four of us were absolutely 100 percent lice-free. Our oldest daughter had a severe, severe case, too (seriously, it was gross). She didn't require us to spray their hair down with olive oil for three days after she left, or tell us to take medication or do any fancy tricks. My wife and I literally had to do nothing once Sonia left. She stopped by again for a follow-up a week later and confirmed again that everyone was 100 percent lice free, and that was that. On top of her professional expertise, Sonia could not possibly have been a more pleasant person to have in our house. My wife and I were joking after she left that it was actually quite a pleasure having her there. The time flew by! By contrast, my brother and his wife (their children now had it too, thanks to our kids) called one of these larger, more chain-like services. They arrived at the same time on that same Friday and were still there 7 hours later. Not a typo. Seven hours. (They also have a family of four, and their cases were all mild compared to ours.) They charged more than three times as much as Sonia, took more than twice as long, and told them they needed to give their kids an olive oil treatment every three hours for the next three days. So, while we were out the next two days enjoying the weekend, they were stuck at home with olive oil-drenched hair. And three days later, their kids still had eggs in their hair. Finally, they did what they should have done initially and called Bug Adieu, and just like us, with one visit from Sonia, everything was taken care of. Again, I cannot possibly recommend Sonia and Bug Adieu enough. If Yelp let reviewers add additional stars, I'd add an infinite amount of them. The best part of all of this is the peace of mind my wife and I now having knowing Sonia is out there should this ever happen again.
