My dog has been going here for years and I was warned about them by a client of mine but didn't pay any mind to it, regretfully so. My dog was just diagnosed with addisons disease and I was told but the dr that they could treat him at the clinic since it's not as complicated as it would be if he were in an addisonian crisis. I asked him if he's sure we shouldn't take him the the ER instead since we couldn't afford treatment at the clinic and to take him to the ER if that didn't work and he said yes hes hopeful that the treatment will work and there's nothing that the ER would do differently that they wouldn't do. We left our dog there for most of the day to get a phone call that he wasn't doing good and we had to rush him into the ER. Nurse told me that his catheter fell out and he didn't get the fluids he needed and they were going to close so that was our only option. I was so upset to get to the clinic to basically see my dog in such worse condition than what he was when I dropped him off!! I couldn't believe that they even charged me more than what I was quoted when the treatment didn't work and part of it was due to a faulty catheter meaning they likely weren't keepjng an eye on him for a long period of time. I mean if he were getting fluids majority of the time there, I would think he'd be somewhat better when we picked him up not severely worse. Dr didn't come in to talk to us at all, he had the manager come in and talk to us and give us an option to pay half at that time and half a mo from then. He is not compassionate or anything and all I see are dollar signs to him. The manager Kaylee on the other hand is probably the best thing that happened to that clinic!! She is so caring and thoughtful, I'm sure if she were the dr nobody would ever have an issue here but unfortunately that isn't the case. We spent thousands more at the ER on top of the $1500 we spent at the clinic for them to do nothing from what I know but caused him to get worse. The ER is what saved my dog and come to find out he was in critical condition in severe addisonian crisis. I wish I listened to my gut and took him there the first time! The staff is extremely rude and uneducated. They don't report test results in a timely manner. The staff doesn't understand any of the test results or is capable of answering any questions about results. They will not let you speak to the vet for any reason. They short you on medication. They are unapologetic and do not care about their attitude. There is zero accountability and they will not let you speak to the vet to share the frustration. The staff is the face of the office and they all work together to cover for each others attitudes so the vets won't find out. You spend your $, they fail you then you end up having to go to another vet anyways and spend twice the money. read more

I've been a customer at the location since 2015. During this time they've had many changes and different providers, not all good. Don't even get me started on their ridiculous Covid "restrictions" that lasted months longer than other veterinarians. But after today, I will no longer be doing business with them. We adopted a puppy who was seen by Dr. Lathrop on 11/28/2022 at her 8 week litter check. At this visit, my husband requested our puppy be added to our account as we had already adopted her. The front staff took her name and my husband left with our puppy. I called today to schedule the puppy's next vaccines. I was told by the front staff that I would need to schedule a vet check and then receive the vaccines. Also- I would need to pay the $68.00 now to even schedule the appointment because this is a "new policy". I asked why she would need to be seen again since she was there less than 3 weeks ago. The staff member tried to say she was not seen recently within our family. I told her yes, my husband brought her in himself and he requested she be added to our file. The person I was speaking with then stated "hold on" and then left me on hold for over 8 minutes. When she came back, her story had not changed at all. Even though this office had seen our puppy less than 3 weeks ago, they are requiring a full vet visit. It's as if Jay Inslee is running this joint. Talk about DOUBLE DIPPING TO THE EXTREME. I will happily drive further to Dr.Best in Eatonville for his superior veterinary skills and fair pricing without unfair "policies" that take advantage of pet parents. You guys should be ashamed of your greed, especially since your vets are simply average at their jobs. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Long rant. Sorry. I never have been so upset. The manager had NO EMPATHY for my situation and continued to just turn the situation BACK on me because I "no showed" for an appointment...an appointment which they made a HUGE deal about the fact the were squeezing me in and going completely out of their way and what an inconvenience it was.... Series of events: Tuesday I called. Dodger and Daisy super sick for two days and quickly declining. Obviously got into something. They couldn't get them in. I was at a loss. They finally made a big deal about squeezing them in the next day at 11:30 line it was a major inconvenience. They even called back to tell me to expect a long wait because they were being squeezed in. Recommended ER if they get worse. They said drop off poop sample if I can so they can send to lab. So I get one of Dodgers that wasn't runny and drop it off. Daisy takes a turn for the worse. 3 hours of vomiting and uncontrollable diarrhea and 3 hours of no movement at all. We go to ER. There forever and not home until after midnight. I got a reminder call at 11:15 this morning about their 11:30 appt and totally forgot because I'm exhausted from being at ER last night for 8 hours and didn't get home until after midnight. Both were starting to turn the corner so I said we're okay, Daisy went to ER last night and got treatment and Dodger is feeling better. The person I spoke to understood and everything seemed to be fine. It wasn't like they had time to see them anyway and that appointment was forced on their schedule. Fast forward to this afternoon. They call with the fecal test results for a sample I dropped off yesterday for Dodger. They have coccidia (a parasite). They tell me they need medication for it. I'm like great, let's do it. Nope! Not without an appointment for both of them. But no appointment for two weeks. So I'm like what do I do? Now they tell me they need to be treated but they can't prescribe without a visit. The ER is my only resort according to them. So I call ER from last night. They are SHOCKED that they are regular patients and they wouldn't treat them. So I call back to ask about their policy and ask to talk to the manager. I was just inquiring as to their policy and asking if there is anything that they could do. My dogs need medication. The office manager quickly snapped and blamed me for no showing at the appointment. I told her I didn't no show that I talked to someone and explained the situation. She said that was at 11:15 for an 11:30 appointment so that is a no show. Really??? Now I'm upset and a bit defensive. I said you are missing my point, if you just take out the fact of the ER Visit last night and the appointment today, what you are saying is that my dogs are sick and need medicine and you can't see them for two weeks. She AGAIN says week you could have been seen at 11:30 today. She continued to blame me rather than help with a solution. No problem solving. No care about my dogs health. Asked about if they don't get the meds what can happen...I don't know I'm not a vet. Really???? How about "let me talk to the vet and see what more I can find out??? This goes on. Keeps going back to the appointment I missed rather than trying to help me solve for this issue. She was snotty and rude. Then she says, "if you continue to talk to me in that tone (?) I'll have to have up" to which I replied "don't worry I'll never be coming back". If I talk to HER with tone? Wow! I don't know if I could give justice on this review to how this happened and how rude she was. I will NEVER recommend anyone to go there. That was the worst customer experience I've had in a long time. She clearly forgot their mission was to help save our little fur babies lives. read more

PSA: Do not take your reactive dogs here. They will only nominally help you manage your terrified dog but mostly glare at you and treat you like an incredible inconvenience. After a series of uncomfortable visits, we've finally reached our limit. We used to like this clinic, and, for context, used to live closer. We moved an hour away this year but, when our dog suddenly needed surgery, decided to stick with what we knew for something so major, instead of finding a new vet. This clinic knows our dog is reactive, is terrified of vets in general, needs to be fully sedated for a nail trim. We thought our history with them would make surgery smoother. We were mistaken. First of all, stunning incompetence on the part of the veterinarian landed us in the ER about twelve hours after he said Benadryl would suffice in place of Prednisone and would not refill our prescription (we also waited around for 6 hours just to be told no to the Prednisone). This about a week after he said that the reason for our dog's severe hives were unknowable, and only later agreeing over the phone with the ER vet that, well, maybe it's the giant cyst on her back that won't heal and looks hideous, because such masses can release histamines, is a known skin malady for this breed, is very dangerous. Spoiler: Benadryl is not a substitute for steroids in such cases. Our surgery to remove said mass was "scheduled" for 8:30am this morning. We were told over the phone that surgery was at 8:30am. I have an additional voice mail confirming our surgery at 8:30am. Don't feed the dog after 10pm because of surgery the next morning. And give her a dose of Trazodone an hour and a half before coming in. Don't worry that she might have an allergic reaction (prior history) to Trazodone, because we will be with the vet! She will be safe. Go ahead and give it to her. We give her the Trazodone and arrive at 8:30am. Fill out a meager one-page form. Are told that the surgery is scheduled for 2pm. What? Apparently we're supposed to leave our terrified, reactive, other-dog-hating rescue dog in a cage for 5 hours without sedation. That's a cool plan. Put her in the building she fears most, surrounded by the animals she fears most. Enjoy trying to sedate her for surgery five hours later, that wound up. By then she will also have urinated on herself. Do you plan to bathe her for us, too? I rescued this dog from an abusive home where she was kept in a crate 24/7 for eight months. She is terrified of them on sight. So, no to that plan. Absolutely not. And after seeing our frustration, our worry, our fear, our exhaustion, not one person in that office, including a nurse, seemed the least sympathetic or apologetic. If anyone had said so much as, "we're sorry you weren't informed," I might not be writing this review. The vet himself didn't even bother coming out. The general attitude was, go screw yourself. So. Do not take your pets here unless they are the chillest creatures on the planet and don't mind being treated like trash for half a day or more. We look forward to our appointment with our new vet on Monday. read more

I had a very positive experience here with my two kitties! All the staff were exceptionally pleasant, and they did a great job handling my one cat who gets very, very stressed out at the vet. Dr. Lathrop is very knowledgeable and compassionate, and was willing to work with me as a team to get the best care possible for my fur babies. He listened to my concerns, and took me seriously when I said certain things wouldn't work for my cat. I used to love this vet when Dr Jolly was there. Now it seems like the vets don't even care. We called tonight- at about 5. Our dog- who has been seen at Horse Cart since he was a puppy. He is a current patient- has had multiple surgeries- is bleeding from an abscess from a surgery scar. I spent a lot of time researching local vets and reading reviews before choosing Horse cart. Part of my hesitation on scheduling was that our previous vet was so great, and I would have loved to keep going there, but it's over an hour drive and my dog gets carsick. I called on 5/15 as a new client to schedule an appointment for my dog. Nothing urgent, but our move coupled with COVID meant she hadn't been seen in almost 2 years. The gal who answered my call and scheduled me was pleasant, although did put me on hold for a considerable amount of time. She told me that she would call and get the records for my dog before the appointment, and I requested that she get the records for both my dogs as I'd be scheduling my other dog next. Fast forward to my appointment on 5/25. I pull into the parking lot, and discover that no one is even allowed in the building. I feel like that's probably something that should have been mentioned when I called and scheduled my appointment. So I call to check in - sat on hold for almost 10 minutes just to tell someone I was sitting in the parking lot. I was early, so I figured they were busy with their earlier appointments. The gal comes out to get my dog, and asks me if I know what vaccines my dog is due for. Now, I must have had a dumbfounded look on my face because she quickly informed me that they hadn't received my records from the previous vet. Again, something that would have been helpful to know BEFORE I arrived, as I could have dug them out of my records, but didn't think I needed to. She assured me that the office could call me once the records were in and let me know what shots to come back for. After this experience though, I don't have confidence that will actually happen. I also have a toddler, and now I have to make an extra trip that could have been avoided. The frustration continued when the vet came out, and promptly wanted to discuss how my female dog is a good boy. Listen, I understand a slip of the tongue, she's got a male sounding name, but you supposedly JUST did an exam on her and still referred to her as a male. I will say that after that mistake, I did find him to be personable and friendly. He also refilled the medication that I requested that our previous vet had prescribed for my dog, which I suppose was one of my ultimate goals of this appointment. So my dog left her appointment still unvaccinated, and I left with little confidence that this is the place I want to take my dogs for care. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. There's been an obvious change in ownership and now a $75 deposit is required. I have a new job and ended up with a rescue puppy three weeks into my new job. I explained that I would be taking time off of work and paid the deposit. It was a bad day at work, traffic was bad and at the last minute while leaving the house I stepped in dog poop. I was running late and I called. I was told to come anyway. They called at a quarter to 6 and I told them where I was and I was instructed to hurry. I arrived at 3 minutes to 6, to watch them saying goodbye to a German shepherd family, I told the woman at the counter I was there with Mickey and she didn't respond. She went and fetched a young cold hearted intern from the back who at promptly 600 said because it was 600 I was too late and had missed my appointment. She then said it would require another $75 deposit to reschedule. Why agree to have me come late and then decide to decline service after having me stand there long enough to be late? Piss poor customer service. There's another, better vet nearby, because the service certainly won't be worse. read more

I am absolutely disappointed... my pets have been seen by Dr Thomas for years. We have had an amazing relationship. With a new addition to our family we made an appointment for our new pup to meet our Beloved Vet Dr. THOMAS. Unfortunately the puppy and my adult dog both started having diarrhea. I called horsecart to be seen. We were seen by Dr. Ben Lathrop. Had I known what was to come I would have not brought my puppy to see him. The most unfortunate events took place over the next 24 hours. A false positive on a parvo test. Not only did the Dr. Come out and say admittedly it may be a false positive he proceeded to tell me how expensive it would be if I chose to take my puppy elsewhere. He verbally quoted me treatment 4 days at about $1000. Then stated it wouldn't be nearly that much if she is doing better "since we caught it so early". I agreed to have them keep her over night to start iv fluids and treatment. Throughout the night my adult dog fully parvo vaccinated continued to have diarrhea. I was racking my brain what could it be... why are both dogs sick. By morning I had figured it out. I called Horsecart to inform them about what has caused my pups to be sick. I was given an update on the puppy and she was alert. I was told her parvo test was negative. She was doing well and hadn't def​e​cat​ed at all through the night. This was great news. Since my adult dog was still having diarrhea i made an appointment for her but with Dr. Thomas. We arrived at housecart and the technician came out... I told her everything that had happened and why I felt what I had fed my dogs is why the where having stomach issues. Because of parvo they wouldn't let my adult dog be seen. Infact Dr. Ben Lathrop was very animated about it and told the assistant that brought my adult dog in "get her out of there". Ok so here is where I really started paying attention to what was being said and done. On three occasions Dr. Ben Lathrop's assistant repeatedly told me that there was a pending lab for my pup for parvo. When Dr. Thomas called me she stated she didn't know my pup was there being treated and that Dr. Ben Lathrop said it was a strong positive for parvo. Bet yet I was told she was negative. One employee was telling me my pup could still die...one was telling me she was sitting there alert and ready to go. Repeatedly I stated I'm confused, what is going on. It came to the point of me saying the pup is doing good I can take her home. Then this coment was made... if you take her home he won't charge you any less. My response was, Dr. Ben Lathrop said lastnight when I dropped her off that if she didn't need to be here for the full treatment then it would be substantially less. Well I decided to take my dog home after less that 24 hour visit to what had been my trusted vet clinic. Dr Ben Lathrop billed me nearly the 1000 he verbally quoted me. I think it was $984 - Oh and I about freaked out, and that is why I am writing this review. The unfortunate part for me is, I never got a written quote, lesson learned. Dr.Ben Lathrop did complete blood work on the puppy and the blood work didn't show signs of parvo. He knew she didn't have parvo. I was lied to and deceived by Dr. Ben, he literally saw an opportunity take advantage of a pup parent with a new puppy. They lost my trust and I will not go back. The most unfortunate part off all of this is Dr. THOMAS is intuitive and kind all the time. I loose a decade + relationship to the greed of Dr. Ben Lathrop. I called the next day to follow-up with Dr. Thomas. The office manager would not let me speak to her as she stated we have chosen to end our working relationship with you. Where would you like me to send your records? EPIC Disappointment, not because I am not allowed back but because this is how it all went down. Avoid Dr. Ben at all costs, although it may be difficult because he is the owner and the only governing person listed on the business. read more

I just feel that the interest of the new owners is more money than your dog, my dog passed away a week after I took him to see them, I got a bill for $675 and not one idea what was wrong with him. I took him back a week later to have him put down, It was obvious that my dog was very weak and he was very big at that point he was 140 pounds. I was in my little car trying to pull him out the Dr. standing behind me and his only interest was do you want to get a ultrasound, after they supposedly did a whole bunch of x-rays blood test and all he thought was do you need an ultrasound instead of coming over and helping me get this sick dog out of the car, so it's your choice if you want to go there for me I'm gonna look somewhere else. read more

The Vets and vet assistants are excellent. But getting past the the total incompetence of the front desk is overwhelming. I have too many instances to recount. 1. Shot records mixed up between 2 dogs, by front desk, causing a dog that just had a set of shots 2 months prior to be given another set. "Oh, I'm sorry." 2. Last straw. Took dog to their recommended Olympia Emergency Vet and was ignore for 1:20. Left for different one in Lacey. Seen be them in less than 10 min. Blood work, xray and findings sent to Horse Cart on Monday. Follow up visit on Saturday. Records not updated, vet in dark about entire situation. Left vet, received a call from them about an hour later saying they found them, and someone else usually takes care of this. Done with them. Sad to leave, but the front staff needs yo be fired. read more

I took my dog here after being referred by a friend. I just moved, and my previous vet was amazing. Perhaps that's why I was so disappointed, I've been spoiled with respect, and kindness. My dog had a lump on her back leg that had started to grow and I could tell was infected. Per my neighbor Horsecart was supposed to be reasonable, and good at their job. My first issue, they don't let you go in with your dog, even on the first visit. . So I thought, ok, Covid in Washington. Super inconvenient, but I'm sure all questions will be answered later. Once her appointment was done the vet brought her out and seemed extremely inconvenienced with the whole thing. When she was explaining what was going on she made a statement that contradicted a previous statement she made. So, of course I asked a question to confirm. She then rolled her eyes, talked down to me and repeated her last sentence. She also seemed annoyed that I had any questions at all. I won't be coming back. Paying a little more to go to a vet with compassion and respect for their patrons is worth it to me. read more

Update: I lost my poor Heidi, but not long after was given a new puppy as a gift. I've never had a puppy before (as an adult any way). So when I showed up at my appointment with Dr. Jolly he was so patient just like he was with Heidi. He explained a lot of the new things I'd be exposed to with a puppy and how to adjust. He taught me how to potty train Hannah and my God she was trained in a few days!! He's so good! I live this vet office. They do a lot of good for those who need it too which is important to me both as someone who supports the business and as someone who receives that help in the past. Dr. Lathrop (I may have spelled that wrong) sees her more often because of my work schedule and he's great too! Dr. Thomas I've only seen once or twice but she was so patient and quick to follow up. I will keep coming back here. I will also always recommend them! I think of the ups and downs of adjusting my life while making sure my dog Heidi is healthy and well adjusted to her new home and I'm so glad I found HorseCart! These people really love our pets like they were theirs and that is what makes me feel so happy that I take my HeidiBug to them. I tried to make an appointment for my dying dog a few weeks back and had no luck. I called early in the morning thinking they would be able to get him in to euthanize him. He had been in about a year ago for a hard and bloating stomach and they thought he was constipated. They recommend a few other emergency vets which I had no luck getting him in. I called them back since they had been my vet since 2017. I was very upset and concerned for my dog. I did say ONE bad word to the young office manager, due to her lack of compassion. I just had another dog in a couple of days before to get her teeth cleaned and they were supposed to do a follow up call to see how she was doing and I never received the call. I finally got him into Gig Harbor vet and he had a large mass in his stomach that had attached itself to his organs. They did euthanize him. read more

Used to be a good vet. Ever since they changed their policy to them coming to your car for check-ins instead of you going inside due to COVID, they have never failed to show up late. I always call 5 mins before my appointment to let them know I'm there and they wouldn't come to my car until about 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Kind of annoying but not really a huge deal. Last visit they didn't come out until 30 minutes past my appointment. Today they didn't come out for AN HOUR. My appointment was at 4 and they didn't come to my car until 5. I had to call 3 times. Never once got an apology nor did they try to fix the situation. They acted like it was totally acceptable to show up an hour past my appointment. read more

I can't say Thank you enough to Dr. Lathrop and Horse Cart Vet. They got us in on Xmas Eve, even as a new patient. My dog was miserable, on 3 legs, thanks to a cracked toenail with the quick exposed. From the front desk ( Jennifer), to the Vet Tech(s) to Dr. Lathrop everything was first rate. They took time to get to know and reassure "Mike", clipped the foot, xrayed it, did a thorough all over exam including checking every limb to make sure there were no other injuries. "Mike trusted the them and so do I! The bill was more than reasonable.. they did not even charge me an emergency call. I plan to switch my dogs' care to this amazing team even though they are over an hour from us. Merry Christmas!! I'm so happy to have found this amazing facility. read more

I love this Vet Clinic. My dog was seen by Dr. Bauman. She is straight forward and compassionate. My dog had couple of infected teeth. They were booked out a couple weeks but she and their teeth Dr. managed to get him in the next morning. I am so grateful. I have used a number of vets throughout my life, and Horse Cart is by far the best I've ever had the pleasure of using. Their staff are personable, and handle my dogs like they're family, exactly as you'd want them handled. The vets themselves offer a wide variety of solutions to a number of different problems that fit our financial situations and our dog's situations. Dr. Deb Thomas is the vet we use most frequently, because she is the sweetest vet we've ever used. Last year, our old doberman girl was diagnosed with heart failure, and Dr. Thomas called me to check in on a regular basis and was thoughtful and insightful in her suggestions and also provided me a number of avenues towards care that I was able to research and decide on. No pressure to spend the most money, no heavy-handed decision pushing. Just a clear lay out of the options, and allowed me to make the best decision for our family, with no judgement. My dog succumbed to heart failure later last year and Dr. Thomas checked in on us about a week later to offer her condolences and provide emotional support. Dr. Lathrop, and crew are awesome. He solved an issue with my dog's broken nail bed, that another vet couldn't, and did it for less $$.

I normally do not take time to give reviews however in this situation I feel compelled to notify other pet owners to NOT take their pet to this office . I brought my beloved dog in , he was examined xrayed and I was only given information that led to ultimately his need to be euthanized by another veterinarian clinic. I had to call to get any sort of help, My calls were not returned I was charged 65.00 for medicine that was only to help the 24.00 medicine absorb. The lack of compassion by the Veterinarian Dr. Thomas was something I have never experienced in my 30 years of having pets. This hospital is wonderful. We unfortunately had to put down our beloved golden, and everyone was very supportive in our decision. Dr. Lathrop, Dr. Jolly and Dr. Thomas are amazing Veterinarians and they all took very good care of our dog while he was alive. The vet techs are incredible and were all very lovely to work with and they are very gentle with all of our animals. I cannot stress enough who lovely this hospital is and you can really tell they care not only about the animals that gone through those doors but they care about the families as well. I did not have a good experience at Horse Cart!! I took my dog in for several issues she had been having for nearly a yr. The assistant came in and was GREAT. She asked questions and listened to my answers with out interrupting me. She gathered her info and left the room, I waited for at least 30 minutes before the vet came in. He hardly examined my dog and asked 1 or 2 questions. He took some samples and disappeared behind the door. I could hear him talking to his staff in the next room while I waited for him to look at the samples he took under the microscope. About 15 mins later he finally returned told me his results then started on his opinion that my dog was sick because of her diet. I explained that I didn't think it was the case, he told me to put her on a rabbit or venison diet. I told him I would be eating that kind of food if I could afford it, I was not going to feed it to my dog. After a long discussion of him trying to convince me to change the dogs food and putting her and a series of medications he left the room. His assistant came back and brought the subject up of my giving up custody of my dog because her illness seem to be chronic and costly. I agreed to it because I want what is best for the dog and I don't have the money or time to take care of her the way she needed. I asked if I would have to pay for her medication and the assistant told me NO. I thanked her for being so understanding and went to the front desk to pay for the office visit. The receptionist told me the cost and I explained to her I was told that I didn't need to pay for the medication because I decided to give the dog up. She asked the vet and he told her I DID have to pay for it. I was upset already to have to give the dog up now I'm being told I have to pay for all her meds too. The office was busy and full of people and I also had my granddaughter who was upset the dog wasn't coming home so I went ahead and paid the 170.00 bill. What a joke. Is this how you treat people who truly care about their pets enough to give them up so they can get the care they need. I will NEVER take another animal to this place again. read more

This place was amazing when it was Dr.Jolly and Dr. Thomas, unfortunately that is no longer the case. The new veterinarian has very little experience or knowledge and clearly is in it for the money. I have been using Horse Cart for just shy of 10 years and have 4 dogs and a cat; they see all of my animals on a regular basis, some even every 2-3 months. My 9 year old dog needed to have a large lump removed that was beginning to cause her discomfort as well as some smaller lumps and a teeth cleaning. The new vet, Dr.lathrup, assured me he could remove the lump, no problem and that my dog was medically clear for surgery. I received a call during surgery, the lump was not where he believed it should have been (under the skin) he requested to do exploratory surgery to try and locate it in her abdomen, I agreed. I then received a second call, it was not in her abdomen... it was located in her muscle layers and he could not remove the lump. When I went to pick her up from surgery I got my bill which was much higher than the estimate as it now included the exploratory surgery but the big lump (the main reason she was getting surgery in the first place) was not removed and the teeth cleaning had not been preformed. I looked passed my concerns with the bill as I just wanted to bring my dog home. They brought her out, her face body, and paws were so swollen... she could not even open her eyes. When I asked if it was normal for her to look like this I was told "oh I just thought that was her face". The vet tech went back and told the dr, she returned with Benadryl, she pushed a few doses with no changes. She kept going back to talk to the dr. And was just told to keep waiting. Finally after multiple doses of Benadryl and a steroid shot the dr finally decided to come see for himself. He told me they were closing and to take her home, if she gets worse I will need to take her to the emergency vet. We were sent away with my dog still in anaphylactic shock, and the best he could say is if it worsens drive to tacoma. Now in the interim of waiting for the rounds of Benadryl to take effect, the vet tech enthusiastically wanted to show me pictures of my dogs insides as it was "so cool" and "nothing we've ever seen before!" I guess in his schooling he never experienced a tumor in the muscle layers. Dr.lathrup informed me that the only way this could be removed would be if they completely removed her sidewall and that section of muscle, which would not be ethical. So it was his recommendation we do not seek treatment from any other source, even a specialist as it would be catastrophic to my dogs quality of life. I left their office with a pit in my stomach. During the following days, it was radio silence from Horse Cart although I was told I would be receiving a follow up call to check on my dog with her allergic reaction and to schedule a follow up visit. To this day I have heard not one word from Horse Cart or Dr.lathrup, the surgery was in May of 2019. I since have received a second opinion on my dogs large lump from the new facility I have transferred my pups to and amazingly it is possible to remove such a lump from such a area without removing her entire sidewall. (They actually can spread the two muscle layers and pull the lump out then put the muscle layers back together). Today we had that surgery done, everything went well. Horse Cart charged me over $1000 to do nothing but use my dog as a lab rat and provide me with incorrect information. I find it to be extremely unethical that this vet is cutting open pets with little to no experience and he does not know his limits in his practice at the cost and price of someones beloved pets. Words for thought: please do not take your family member to this clinic for surgery without a second opinion. read more

Love this place, prices are good, staff is super friendly and our animals have always been treated very well. We had to put a cat down this past march and the staff at Horse Cart was very sympathetic to us and even sent a card a week later giving their condolences. Will take all of our furbabies here as long as we're in the area! read more
