Cool place! Great vibe and colorful. The barista was nice and apologized for the wait. I could tell a lot of regulars come here as she greeted them and asked if they wanted their usual. I like that. My husband got a cold brew which he said was really good and I got their Mahbuhay Ube Latte which I found delightful. I totally recommend this place!

Great staff, white rose is good but a tad too sweet even for me haha But the Honey lavender latte, mm yum and delicious, the perfect amt of sweetness Street parking only!

Nirvana Soul has never failed me on their spectacular service, great vibes, and excellent food. They constantly support local artists and businesses, and their environment is perfect for anything creative you want to do on your laptop. There are some outlets throughout the floor. Going on a Friday morning, it is fairly quiet. I ordered a matcha latte and chocolate chip waffle. Chocolate chip waffle is something I've wanted to try. After eating the waffle, I would recommend the golden waffle over this. This waffle is too sweet for my liking. The matcha latte has always been consistent whenever I go here. I'm glad to have matcha latte with them in many mornings.

Caffeinate in downtown San Jose at this cultural spotlight, perhaps before or after a show at the theater next door! Nirvana Soul Coffee, squeezed tightly into the hustle and bustle of this South Bay city, hosts a two story shop decorated quaintly with beautiful artwork and humble cafe furniture. This busy spot invites locals to come in and park a while as they're sipping on flavorful coffee drinks and teas and being productive with complimentary WiFi. Seating is plentiful with their tables upstairs. Parking isn't too bad but can be sparse during peak hours. With the steady churn of traffic reflective of the city, it may feel a bit hectic but Nirvana's close to the public parking garages and some street parking (payment required before 6 pm). Once you've gotten situated, check out their menu of drinks and order at the register. After placing the order, head down the hall where they'll put out the drinks for pick up. They have a few flavored drinks in addition to those classic espresso drinks. Furthermore, they have whole beans as well as swag for purchase. Check out the rack to see the freshest offerings. This time around, I ordered the honey lavender latte and it was delicious. The rich boldness from the coffee paired well with the sweetness from the honey and the fragrance from the lavender activated all the senses to keep you salivating for more. Their staff are friendly, patient, and efficient. There weren't too much interactions aside from the order and pick up for me but from what I observed during their interactions with other patrons, they seem to be extremely welcoming. Overall, Nirvana checks all the boxes for a hip coffee shop for the busy professional or student. The coffees are tasty and very palatable. The prices are comparable to other coffee shops and the quality of drinks and service are above average. The atmosphere is comfortable for meetings with friends and work. It gets a bit noisy with the music that's playing and the constant flow of customers, but if those busy sounds help you focus, then you'll find that this spot will be perfect for you! Perhaps, this may be the Nirvana you've been seeking for!

Stopped by Nirvana Soul Coffee in downtown San Jose today and really enjoyed the experience. The space has a lot of personality -- colorful, artsy, community-driven, and the kind of café that feels like more than just a coffee stop. You can tell it has a strong local identity. I ordered the iced honey lavender latte, and it was excellent. Refreshing, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, with a nice floral note from the lavender that made it feel a little different from the usual coffee shop order. I was there during an event, and the café worked surprisingly well for it. There was enough energy to feel lively, but it still felt comfortable enough to sit down, talk, and get some work done. The interior art, bright colors, and overall layout made the place feel creative and memorable. What stood out most to me was the atmosphere. Some coffee shops are functional, but Nirvana Soul feels expressive. It has character, community presence, and a setting that makes you want to stay a little longer. A great local stop for coffee, conversation, and a creative downtown San Jose vibe.

Extremely cute coffee shop located in downtown San Jose. Nirvana Soul definitely brought the vibes with the music and all the artwork. They have a loft area upstairs with a lot of seating so you can get some work done. They offer unique latte options, and I decided to go with the Dirty Banana Chai. It was fantastic, and I will definitely run it back when I am visiting San Jose!

This is my second time trying Nirvana Soul, the first was at a work event in San Francisco and I was so happy to get to visit again at this downtown San Jose location. The cafe is welcoming with art everywhere, the menu has something for everyone and a lot of fun and unique flavor offerings. They also offer pastries. I ordered the white rose latte and my husband ordered the banana chai, both iced. While we were waiting we looked at the art in the cafe and within a few minutes we were on our way. The banana chai is wonderful, I'm not a big banana person but the flavor wasn't overpowering just a good mix of spicy chai with a bright sweetness from the banana (not laffy taffy sweetness or banana smoothie overpowering flavor) I would 100% order one of these in the future for myself. The white rose latte had a much lighter flavor than the chai, but was a great balance of espresso, sweet, and floral. It wasn't too sweet though and I loved how the floral flavor came through. Another great option. So happy we stopped in!

As someone who loves coffee, I'm always looking for new places to try, so I stopped by Nirvana Coffee while I was downtown. I ordered the Mabuhay Ube Latte (espresso, milk, ube, and coconut), and it was such a treat. The flavors were incredibly well balanced--none of them overpowered the others. It had just the right amount of sweetness without being overly sweet, allowing each ingredient to complement the espresso perfectly. The atmosphere was fun, welcoming, and lighthearted, making it a great place to relax. The staff was also genuinely friendly and made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Im so glad my girlfriend and I found this spot in downtown San Jose! We ended up going with the banana chai and it was incredible. I'm usually a cold coffee person, but this tasted great as a hot drink. This drink is very rich, so if you would like to cut back on the richness, I would recommend it with oat milk instead of regular milk. I also ended up getting a chorizo con queso waffle, which was a waffle with chorizo pieces and cheese inside the waffle. Staff was patient with us and was helpful at explaining the menu. There is also a nice upstairs loft area that is perfect for studying and reading.

Super cute coffee shop with a nice lounging area upstairs. I love the artwork displayed throughout the store as well. The cashier was super nice and friendly and struck up conversation with me! I got the birthday cake iced latte and gave it a good mix but the you can only really taste the flavor in the first couple sips. The rest of the drink just tasted like regular coffee. Gave me a good amount of energy though. Would come back again to try their other cool flavors such as beet coffee!

A cool place to chill and have a latte. The staff is friendly and the place is jumping. Many peeps are milling around with a friend or two, while others are flying solo. There's an upstairs with an abundance of artwork. Support your local business is easy

I really loved the vibes of this coffee shop the second I walked in: warm, welcoming, bright, and inclusive. There's some seating on the first floor near the entrance and an upstairs area as well. We ordered the Dirty Diana (chai, espresso, milk and beet). Very tasty and I'm a sucker for pretty latte art. I love the unique options they have here, with lattes having fun ingredients ranging from beets to turmeric to ube. Yum. The store was also super kind because the barista had made an extra iced caramel latte, and they offered it to us at no charge. We accepted the offer and the latte was delicious and smooth and delightfully sweet from the caramel. We'll definitely be coming back to this coffee shop!

Nice coffee shop, with good vibes and several items to choose from. I ordered the ube coconut latte with macadamia milk and it was perfectly balanced with a bold coffee flavor and sweetness.

Ask the Community - Nirvana Soul Coffee

Do they have open open-mike comedy night?

Hello & yes! Every Friday night from 6PM-9PM in downtown San Jose :)

    Are y'all cashless?

Hello! We accept cash at our 1st Street, W Santa Clara, and Cupertino locations

How do the waffles fare overnight? I'm considering buying one to reheat and eat the next day (am not in the area, so can't come day-of).

Flavor will be there but you’ll lose some crispiness. Best to reheat in an air fryer. Also keep the box fully open when you get it so that it can cool down without steaming to help it stay crispy. Hope this helps!

Hi! Does your cafe have private/secure wifi? I am looking for a cafe to work remotely at, however I am unable to access the internet on a public network. Thanks in advance.

Hello! Our Nirvana Soul Guest wifi is open to customers without a password. Hope this helps!

Hello! Can I dine in with my pup? Do you have power outlet to charge my laptop if I decide to hangout longer?

You sure can! (Get them a pup cup while you’re here too!) We also have power outlets throughout the shop. See you soon!

Hello, I'm looking for a café to study, by any chance do you guys offer wifi?

Hello! We do offer WiFi in our cafes.

Hi! Are you accepting cash right now, or just card?

    Hello! We accept both.

Do you accept reusable cups? I am trying to reduce my waste and would love it if I could hand the baristas my cup when making the drink.

We do! Just be sure to bring your cup in already washed and clean.

Hi, do you have any vegan option on food or pastries?

Hello! We have a couple of vegan pastries, including a really good lemon blueberry muffin.

Where do you recommend parking? I'm completely lost whenever I'm in downtown but would love to check this place out!

Hi there! The city parking lots are free for the first 90 minutes. The closest one to us is on 2nd & San Carlos. Otherwise, metered parking on the streets, but it can be tough. Hope this helps!

Does this place take Apple Pay?

    Yes

Are your syrups (caramel, chocolate,etc..) dairy free?

Hi! All of our syrups are dairy free except our white chocolate syrup.

Are they doing online orders for pick up?

Hi! We’re only doing order ahead for traveler boxes. Still in-store only for drinks and food.

Do they make their own pastries?

Hi Ellvy! We get our pastries delivered fresh every morning from The French Spot.

What gluten free options do you have?

Hi! We just have a mochi cake for now. More options coming later.

Typically I like to bring my reusable glass with a stainless steel straw to places as an eco-friendly practice. Would I be allowed to have a barista use my reusable cup for my order instead of the plastic ones if I bring it?

Hi! We love that! Unfortunately, with COVID restrictions, we’re unable to fill reusable cups right now. We’ll let you know when things change.

Did they take phone orders for pick up?

Hi Melissa! No phone orders or delivery yet. We’re still doing in-store orders only.

What precautions are you taking for covid? So excited to try it!

Hi! Your safety is our priority! We’re only allowing ~6 people in store at a time, all of our baristas are wearing masks and gloves, and we have PPE shields around our entire bar. We’re also sanitizing between customers and only serving drinks in…

Can I bring my dog while picking up coffee? Would love to go on a long walk and pick up something to drink but also want to be respectful of your space.

Definitely!! It is a pet friendly place and the owners are dog lovers.

Is outdoor seating available for students?

Right outside the shop there's a few tables and chairs open to the public. However, there's a few that belong to the restaurant next door.

Are we really at a point where people are just so accustomed to average food such that mediocre eateries are terrific to them? I came across this food truck at an Off the Grid event. I actually was excited to try this food truck as the photos on their Yelp page looked good... first mistake. The photos are incredibly outdated as this truck no longer serve mac and cheese nor collard greens, which are two dishes that I enjoy. Even their main fried chicken and waffle menu has gone from about ten items down to five. Nevertheless, I decided to get a fried chicken and waffle sandwich and ordered the Spicy and I Know It. It was honestly the saddest sandwich I have ever seen. The waffle was barely the same quality as what you would get at the continental breakfast served at your local inn. The cheese was sliced processed cheese that you get at Safeway and the fried chicken was worse than what you get at KFC. The cherry on top was that the maple syrup that they gave you with the waffles was a packaged condiment like what you would get at a fast food joint. I am truly shocked at the almost perfect score of this truck. Whether I give a place a perfect or a mediocre rating, I still somewhat understand the overall rating but in the case, I am truly lost.

FOOD/MEALS: 8/10 As for their meals, I thought they were good, but not quite as memorable as the pastries. Final Thoughts: 4.20/5.0…read more Contrary to many other opinions, I personally really like brunch. It really is more for the vibes and spending time with my friends and family versus the food sometimes. For some reason, this place has always been on my list of to-go brunch places, but I've just never had the chance to go here. After our matcha run, my friend and I decided to go here for brunch. It was around a 45 minute wait today. On their Yelp, appears to be quite the quaint place to to get food and relax. Will definitely be a 4 star for me. Food: Jumbo Crab Bene with seasonal fruit: 4.0/5 This is their fresh lump crab with sliced avocado, whole grain mustard and poached eggs stacked on lightly toasted English muffins, topped with scratch made Hollandaise sauce and garnished with locally sourced microgreens. This is served with either house potatoes or seasonal fruits. The lump crab is actually fresh crab I believe. There are some pieces of the shell that were still in there. I'm honestly not even mad because that's a pretty big indicator that it's the fresh crab meat picked out. The egg is nicely poached with a runny yolk. Hollandaise sauce is quite nice and light. The Dijon mustard was quite strong for me and did overwhelm some of the other flavors on the plate. It does add a nice flavor, but occasionally, it was too much. For the English muffin, it was quite thick, so it felt kind of dry. It's noted to be slightly toasted, but its somewhat hard to tell with the mustard, crab meat, and poached egg on top, which are mainly wet items. Avocado is perfectly ripe. I'm not an avocado person, but this one did it just right for me. The fruits came with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, apples, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Very refreshing and needed after the savory foods. Philly Steak Sandwich with garlic fries: 4.0/5 This sandwich has grilled steak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms topped with provolone cheese on a toasted baguette with mayo and a light teriyaki drizzle. Will come with either a side of house salad or garlic fries. I really liked how they caramelized the onions and peppers inside of this. There's that additional sweetness from it that works well with the steak and cheese. Very tender meat. The bread also seemed kind of big and just almost dry too. Not too big of a concern given the amount of filling that they give. My friend choose the garlic fries and those were amazing. The cut is just right and the crisp on the outside is just so good. You can taste the garlic, but I could do with even more garlic to it. --------- Quality: Fresh Something I really like is that they use real crab in their jumbo crab bene. You can actually feel the tiny pieces of the shell in it, which usually means its fresh. The food did take a second to come out, but both were piping hot. My friends onions and veggies were quite caramelized, which is nice. Brings out a lot of the flavor component in the sandwich. The fries were actually so good too. I wanted the side of garli fries, but it was convenient that his came with it. Super crispy, nice size, flavor is good. May need a little more fresh garlic, but overall, really good. Price: Reasonable Prices seem reasonable for what they give. Initially, it does lean more on the expensive side, but their portion sizes are larger than your average brunch place. Prices will range from between $18 to $24, with a few outliers. Service: Very sweet workers Very nice service here. Everyone was sweet, greeted us, and checked on us. Our food did take a little longer than some others around us. For us, it was around a 25-30 minute wait after ordering our food. Even the table next to us that were seated after got their food first. The food did come out fresh, so I'm not really complaining. They did let us know and give us little updates about our wait and food though. Ambiance: Classic Brunch Spot The space is nice and looks slightly cramped inside. It was just my friend and I and they gave us a seat right in the corner next to the window. Honestly, probably the best spot for me and the person who seated us also noted that it was his favorite spot in the house. I didn't see much beyond from what was seen by the door. The space looks fairly small, but fit a decent amount of tables with walking space in between still. Always love the open kitchen. It's fun to watch what happens behind the scenes. Location/Parking: Large space It's located right on Saratoga Avenue. There is a Lucky grocery store here, so there is a lot of parking around. We really didn't have any concerns finding a space at all.

I wish I orders one of the star or favorites items. The ube chicken and waffles and the Dino banh mi dip were delicious! Any of their sauces were packed with flavor. The interior had a romantic vibe to it. They should make the service area match though. Customer service was good and they appeared pretty busy. Parking was small, but I did not have a hard time doing a spot.

The portions are generous, and every dish we ordered came out looking just as good as it tasted. From the tacos and grilled meats to the noodles, bánh mì, and chicken and waffles, everything was packed with flavor. Even the drinks tasted great, although I wish they used a little less ice since they were gone after just a few sips. The only downside was the wait. The restaurant is pretty small, so it's understandable that it gets busy, but be prepared to wait during peak hours. Once we were seated, our drinks took a really long time to come out, and that was probably the most frustrating part of the experience. The service wasn't bad, but it could definitely be more attentive, especially when the restaurant is full. Overall, the food made up for the wait, and I'd still come back. The quality, variety, and portion sizes are worth it. If they can improve the drink wait times and make the service a little more efficient, this place would easily be one of my favorites. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving Vietnamese food with plenty of options.

Went here on a whim in search of sesame balls!…read more We were staying in San Jose and were in DESPERATE NEED of sesame balls, so this bakery was nearby. It's a Banh Mi deli plus a bakery, but we were on a mission to get JUST sesame balls! They had two kinds to choose from - red bean or mung bean, and we did an 18 ct of red bean (excessive?? Possibly. But it was vacation!). I was so excited because they looked and smelled fantastic! However, I was disappointed that I didn't get much of a pull from the dough nor was there a lot of filling on the inside (it was extremely sparse). The flavor did not lack though - the sesame taste was PERFECT (heavy for a normal person, not for me though!), but I wanted more of the filling to balance that heavy sesame taste. The ladies running the shop were your true Vietnamese aunties who were gabbing it up with the regulars, and were sweet to my friend and I (who again, were on a mission for one thing!). Overall, I'd come back to try the Banh Mi and the rice-based desserts.

Meaning you place your order and pay through their QR code menu. Even though it was self-serve, the staff was friendly and they came to check in on our table a couple of times to refill our drinks. The food was fantastic! As soon as you park you can smell the smoker going and it makes your mouth water. I ordered the ribs with a side of beef and beans and Mac and cheese. The cornbread comes with the platter. Ribs were St. Louis style with the bits of cartilage at the end that I really love to chew on. Meat was delicious and fall off the bone. Bbq sauce is ok the sweet side by balances well with a few drops of hot sauce. Portions are very health. The beans were delicious and almost reminded me of chili. Mac and cheese was on point. Overall I highly recommend checking them out. Whether you are in the area or just looking for a great bbq joint in the bay, Jackie's place won't disappoint. For the vegetarians, try their jackfruit "pulled pork" bowl! Also their desserts selection is amazing. Will have to come back to try their peach cobbler and lemon pie!
