We found this awesome food truck place on yelp. The name Nirvana seemed interesting. We called the food truck. Jason the owner asked as to park across the street. Free parking for the kahei village shops. A lot of food trucks here. For every tastebud and flair. From Hawaiian to Japanese, to açaí bowls and smoothies. The free range roosters are everywhere. I'm GF and vegan, this was my Go-To spot after researching options in the area. I asked questions and received very positive assistance from the staff. I want to give them 5 stars bc what I ate was great, but also felt my portion of food was smaller than the guests I was eating with. Yes, they ordered from other places in the complex, my tray just could have been fuller. We joked I didn't get adult portions, I got the lunch special or the kids size. If you visit, ask about adding side for a larger portion. read more

We were craving something different on the island after several days of pizza, pasta, etc. Being vegetarian we came upon all these food trucks in Kihei and loved the prior reviews of Nirvana. My wife and I split the masala dosa and the dosa plate. The dosas were piping hot and light. The sambhar was rich and flavorful and complemented the dosas nicely. We only wish the potatos in the dosas were spicier but that's a personal preference. We'll definitely be back here on our next trip to Maui. read more

Being from the Bay area samosas are a dime a dozen this place is spectacular, both the vegetable and beef samosas are the best I've ever had. The sauce for dipping is fruity and wonderful. I'm going to say it. I'm an Indian that lives in Maui. When I saw that this place had dosas I got really excited. First I'll start with the good stuff and then I will express my disappointment. Flavor, texture and chutney are delicious no doubt. If you want an Indian treat this will do the trick. So it's a quality tasting Dosa but it has a big BUT for me as an Indian who cherishes Dosas like americans do fried chicken or Donuts. What is with the size? I feel like this is a "Hawaiian Dosa" where everything is in smaller portions for the same money or more expensive. And it really doesn't take that much effort or batter to make a slightly larger dosa that would WOW everyone. So that's my complaint, every dosa i've ever had in my life was larger than life. I go here and its miniature. Let's not skimp. Dosa's are supposed to have that HUGE wow factor and I just feel like it would have made the biggest difference in my experience. Flavor is great. Authentic dosa experience is lacking. I'm sure most of you don't know the difference but I would respect it more if it was that giant dosa you get at the Indian Sweets & Spices that is bigger than your face. I haven't had Indian food since going to a wedding this summer so it was great to find an Indian food truck right in the heart of Kihei! Ordered the two combos - North Indian one that came with choice of 2 out of 3 curries, naan or lemon rice, or half naan half lemon rice.. we got the chicken curry (yummmmy), navratan korma (great but I wish the veggies such as broccoli and cauliflower were cut into smaller pieces) with half naan and half rice. - South Indian one that came with masala dosa, coconut chutney, sambhar, and lemon rice They make the food to order so it took sometime to prepare (maybe 25-30 minutes) but it was sooooooooo worth the wait! DELICIOUS and you can tell it was freshly made! Their food is wayyyyy better than a lot of Indian restaurants in Philadelphia haha I wish I'd come with more time on my hands to really sit and enjoy the food.. unfortunately had a flight in a couple of hours so had to rush. Today, I had the curry combo with palak paneer ( fabulous) and vegetable korma (also fabulous). Plus a fabulous mango lassi! So, so great! Thank This is such a great find! Delicious food and lovely people making it. I stopped by this sweet little food truck just to see the menu, and couldn't resist ordering samosa. We went here on our drive back from Hana. So flavorful, so fresh, so delish! They were out of most of the food around 5pm when we arrived. We got the chicken curry and korma curry. Stopped here to get our fix of Indian food and it was really good! They are open 12-7 everyday except Sundays and Mondays. The guy who owns the place moved to HI about 10 years ago and has been doing this a long time now! We got 2 plates - the dosa plate that came with lemon rice and chutney and the chicken curry plate that came with lemon rice and a small raita/ chickpea salad. The dosa was actually pretty good. Even though we had our meal to go, the dosa stayed crispy. The potato filling was mild but flavorful. I didn't care for the chutney, it tasted okay but had a weird neon color to it lol. The lemon rice was not traditional South Indian lemon rice, but tasted good. Ragz liked his chicken curry and finished the whole thing. The raita was okay - made understandably with American yogurt instead of Indian sour yogurt, so didn't taste that awesome. The chickpea salad lacked citrus but was okay otherwise. Overall a solid meal in Maui, where desi food options are far and few in between. We might even come back while we are here! read more

I have been meaning to go to this food truck for awhile and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Been craving a particular dish, masala dosa, and it was awesome. The chutney and sambar to go with the dosa were also delicious. This is the only place on Maui that I know that serves Dosas, part of South Indian cuisine. I also ordered vegetable Samosa and it was to die for and went well with the mint chutney I chose. The samosa was the best I have ever had (and I have a lot over the years). I also ordered a mango lassi and it was great, the cook did a flair on it I never had, not sure of flavor, thought maybe cardamom. The menu includes both South and North Indian food. Not a review for the food but the availability. We took a trip driving 40 minutes just to eat here..it says open until 7 pm and we reached here at 5.45 pm but they were closed. We learned from another local that they usually do this nearly everyday as they have sold enough for the day or run out. read more
