This is actually for the food truck in Pukalani. My friend suggested we get food at veg out because it's one of her favorite places. She got the muffaletta sandwich which was large and it looked really yummy. They make their own ciabatta buns. She says it's her favorite, she has it all the time. I opted for the falafel wrap and was not disappointed. It was a nice sized portion, cut in half and served with a tahini sauce for dipping or pouring into the sandwich. It was quite delicious and I ate it all. I will definitely eat here again now that I know how good it is. They have a wide selection of food on their menu, and it's all meat free.

This place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but it is extremely delicious. Definitely one of the best vegetarian / vegan spots in Maui. I originally had gone to Maui Kombucha across the street and while the food tastes very healthy, it honestly was not as tasty nor does it have as many options as Veg Out. People rave about the pesto with artichoke pizza here, and while it's good, it was too cheesy and heavy for me. Not that it's bad, I actually surprisingly liked it, but again, just too cheesy. Their margarita pizza was delicious. I was so surprised how good it tastes. They even got the pizza crust down right. I would highly recommend getting that one. I also ordered a lot of other things like a rueben sandwich and tofu tacos. Also really good. I came here on my last date and got food to go before returning my return car to hop on a plane back to California. I brought all the food with me on the place, and was pleasantly enjoying it at the airport and on my flight. I would highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Get your vegetarian fix at Veg Out! Impressed with small establishment set up. Counter service for ordering, few tables and chairs to eat in or you could take out. I had the Cheese Burrito served with house made salsa and guacamole, tasteful red beans with jalapeños on top and a portion of green salad. It was tasteful and the portion was filling. My husband had the Thai curry which was not very flavorful but filling. Service was quick, we waited a few minutes and our food was brought to our table. This is located in the Aloha Aina center right off the highway with other small establishments.

This place is such a wonderful hidden gem. My bf is vegetarian. We drove the road to Hana and realized we were pretty close to Veg Out. Let me also mention because he's vegetarian and a really good cook he's really picky about his food. I always just prepare myself for him saying he didn't like it or wishes he could cook for us. Well, he LOVED the food at Veg Out! He got the eggplant lasagna and it was really delicious. I got the tofu pad thai which was actually also very good. He enjoyed his food so much he ordered a boca burger to go (also delicious). He took the chocolate vegan cake and an oatmeal cookie to go too. The place is quaint but just the perfect size. The cook (owner) was a very cool lady who aims to please her customers. I really can't say enough. If it wasn't on the other end of the island we would've gone again!

Heaven for vegetarian. So many food options and food is so yummy. I had vegan pizza (had tahini sauce on the side) and my husband had burrito. Really good service as well.

It was luck that brought us here, definitely serendipity. Great service. The person at the cash was very friendly made great suggestions, and he also set expectations for when the food would be ready, which is great! One word of caution though. Stay away from the curry dishes. Not very flavorful. Experienced buyers remorse after. But the sandwich and the salad dressing were amazing!! Made up for it 2 folds.

    Beyond Steak Burger

LONG STRAIGHT LIGHT BROWN HAIR IN BURGER. This spot was recommended as an alternate Veggie option instead of driving into town to eat in Paia. I got the Beyond Steak Burger already cut, and was happy with the size and ingredients for the price 10.95. Everyone had on masks because of COVID-19 and was polite. Get home, start eating and 3 bites in get a random strand of hair stuck in my teeth, pull it out and almost puke. Look in the container and another strand of hair same color under the bun, but shorter. Gave the rest to the cats.... SMH. Not even CLOSE to my hair. Needless to say wouldn't recommend. Update 7/29/2020: The business has contacted me and said they would issue a refund.

It's an unassuming place close to the strip mall in Haiku. I stopped here for lunch after watching the sunrise at Haleakala National Park and biking down from the summit. I had Pad Thai with tofu -- you can't expect it to be authentic but it's a simple, good meal with rice noodles and veggies. I would recommend this place to vegans and vegetarians.

The inside seating has no romantic ambiance, better suited for lunch or breakfast. We had a lot of attention from two servers who attended to our culinary needs more than adequately. The vintage style lighting is perfect, in many cases they are staying with the warmth of incandescent lamps but the LED's that are in service are not too harsh and blend in. The warm garlic bread with caramelized onion was outstanding and we were served another round after devouring the first. The tempered butter really provided emphasis for the consumption. Our three course prix fixe menu started with soup or salad. Both were wonderful. The soup was full of kale but the flavors of the soup were absorbed by said kale and it worked well. The salad had fresh spring greens and the dressing was a light rice vinegar sesame that really complimented the greens without overpowering them. The Mahi Curry over jasmine rice came with roasted vegetables. The vegetables had a slight hint of char that was perfect, a rare attempt at this in restaurants in my experience. The curry was not overly spicy and slightly sweet, a good version. The fish was very good, ever so slightly overcooked for my preference. The glazed salmon was pretty awesome. The fish was cooked absolutely perfect. The glaze was not overly sweet and had a bit of soy sauce flavor to it. The roasted veggies on the side were great. The matcha pot de crème was rich and addictive. It was presented with fresh berries on top and was a delight. Lilikoi chia seed dragonfruit pudding with coconut was very different for me. Definitely what I would call an "Adult" dessert. Not one bit sugary and every bite interesting. Note to self: take it easy on the bread at the beginning of the meal and you won't get so stuffed.

We were sitting next to a large table, which seemed to believe they should command our servers attention. At every moment this reduce dthe overall experience. FYI, this is a small dog friendly restaurant. Two patrons had dogs on one side of the restaurant. They were well behaved, but I don't really want to eat with other people's pets and a fine dining situation. If you're lucky to go when they're not totally full, you should be able to have a very good experience.

Nuka was exceptional. Authentically Japanese, the restaurant is beautifully yet serenely decorated, the staff are welcoming and well versed in the menu and flavors, and pricing is competitive for island restaurants. In fact when you know the healthy ingredients are the best available, locally grown/caught/raised and cooked to perfection it takes it up a notch. We arrived just as they opened for lunch at 11.30am and luckily managed to be seated straight away. I've read that dinner is much harder to get a table and there is a long wait so arrive accordingly ;) Parking is available in the car park next door beside the gym, free and self parking. So, what did we order?......... Grapefruit lychee spritzer - we chose the mocktail version but you can make it a cocktail too. Sooo citrusy and thirst quenching. Not sweet, zingy. Very refreshing on a hot Maui day Miso - earthy, salty, brothy, umami, steaming hot in a bowl to start off your extravaganza of a meal Shio koji cabbage - finely shredded with sesame and house milled bran and seasoning, like an elegant Japanese coleslaw, I loved it! Nasu Miso eggplant - slightly sweet because of the miso, I liked the taste but it wasn't a texture I'm used to eating, which I found a lot in Japan, eg mochi. But I can't fault the dish because of that, the miso umami was richly broiled and it was a popular dish House Nuka pickles - crunchy, fresh and sprinkled with sesame (daikon radish, carrot and cucumber), a good palate cleanser and a nice texture to complement the eggplant above. Not vinegary, just fresh Saba Nigiri - two pieces of moreish mackerel sushi, melt in the mouth with so much flavor, decent sized nigiri too Shiso Country sushi roll - on the specials list, and it was amazingly special! Ahi, habanero masago, orange masago, shaved shiso leaf, ponzu, so many flavours and textures combined into a party in the mouth, with a slight heat build as you ate it. A favourite Miso Butterfish - OMG it looked so amazing and was another popular dish, for a good reason, it is delicious. Melt in the mouth, flaky, savory cod, a nice sized serving, and the miso sauce is sooo good with the buttery fish Lilikoi ice cream - hubby only had room for one generous creamy scoop served with chocolate wafers and decorated with fresh mint. Perfect end to a delightful meal We both felt that this is definitely one of the best restaurants on island, culturally and gastronomically, pricewise and food presentation, authenticity and awareness of local produce....it all adds up to an outstanding dining experience. We will most definitely be returning even though we have to drive an hour and half to get there! "Gochisousama deshita"

As most reviews state, Nuka had a LONG wait time and a line when we arrived even though we came fairly late that I thought most people wouldn't be out eating at that time anymore. However, once we got seated, our order was taken very quickly and the food also came out very fast! We took our server's recommendations on what to order and tried one of the specials they were offering that night, the sushi platter, and a specialty roll. I felt quantity could've been better for the price, but then again, I don't know what to expect for sushi prices in Hawaii. The quality was good though and fish tasted fresh. We enjoyed all our dishes, and I wish we would've ordered more because I didn't feel we had enough food once everything came out. I definitely can see Nuka being a local favorite though and am glad we tried it!

This tastes like a combination between a curry and a breakfast burrito. The spices make it warming and flavorful while the butternut squash and coconut add creaminess and sweetness. The portion is generous and can be shared between 1-2 people. - vegetable curry bowl (8/10): carrot, cauliflower, and peas in a Tamil curry with a side of rice. This is a hearty and comforting meal. The flavors are similar to the butternut squash curry but this one is slightly less sweet. I personally liked the butternut squash one better but both are very tasty. - vegan crepe (8/10): buckwheat crepe filled with a lentil and tomato stew with sides of salad and hummus. Upon entering the restaurant, we enjoyed hearing upbeat music and hubby and I were warmly greeted by an employee named Josh. Hubby informed the employee about his but allergy and the employee said the restaurant was but free except the peanut sauce in one of the menu items. After reviewing the menu, I decided to try their Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl with nozzarella sticks and hubby ordered their pulled pork fries. In addition to our food, I ordered a Hawaiian sunset to drink which is their version of an Arnold Palmer and hubby ordered a lemonade. As we waited for our food to be ready, we noticed an area with non-food items for sale including glass cup, a shirt, a graphic similar to the on in the restaurant sitting area, and silverware. The nozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and served with a side of marinara sauce. My Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl was full and filling and I was shocked when I saw it not only contained full baby carrots. The pulled pork fries had the perfect balance of tenderness through the well seasoned pulled pork served on top of crunchy French fries. Since we at inside the restaurant, we appreciated Josh regularly checking in to ask how we were enjoying our meal as well as providing suggestions for other places in the area with vegan or plant based food options. We enjoyed the food, conversation and good vibes with Josh so much that we returned the next day. During our second visit, I ordered a chicken gyro and a crème brûlée which hubby ordered the BRB burger with fries, a side on onion rings, and a slice of avocado toast. Considering we were crunched for time, we took our food to go and similar to our first visit, the food was phenomenal. The chicken gyro was flavorful with several sauces and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and the sauces Josh provided were creamy. Hubby's mind was blown away by the presentation of the avo toastie (he said this avocado toast was the best her ever had) and despite not being a big eater of sweets, he thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée which was soft and sweet. Given Josh's positive energy as well as creative and delicious food, if you are vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious, I suggest you walk, not run to Earth Aloha Eats.
