The still from which goodness flows...

Finally was able to visit this distillery and so happy I did. I love this gin and I enjoyed learning about their processes. After the tour we had our tastings, and learned a few new recipes for a nice gin drink, which I enjoyed sharing at a party I was at a few weeks later. Great product, nice people, and a welcome to the area!

New aurora gin!

I'm so glad Nippitaty was able to upgrade their distillery and land it right on Spruill ave in North Charleston. Between breweries and distilleries you could make an entire day of visiting just the ones in the Park Circle area. Nippitaty has a great tasting room where they're putting together delicious cocktails using their products and sampling the bottles before you make a purchase. Nippitaty focuses on gin but I've had their vodka too and everything they do is organic. I really do think they have a different flavor profile than comparable products and their specialty gin releases are my favorite. This year I stocked up on the Aurora which is the purple one made with butterfly pea and changes colors to pink in acid. Now that fall is here you'll find me reaching into the cabinet for my Everything Nice which is a cinnamon apple flavored gin. It's always best to support them by stopping in to buy it locally and you might meet the people who make it, but you can always check your local ABC store as well. On certain days you'll find live music and food trucks here too... check it out.

Grand opening at their new location, Nippitaty continues the high quality spirits. We had the Tom Collins and vodka English mojito, both were amazing. They offer free samples available to sample their product.

What a cool distillery! Small place but awesome tasty gin. Great staff. Free tasting. Had to buy a cocktail and a bottle.

Cocktails never miss. Specials are always good. The south side is amazing and it's the best gin and tonic I've ever had. Ethan rocks!

Boyfriend and I decided to check out this little gem yesterday since I'm always driving past it. Let me tell you!!! This place is like no other. Great drinks and even better staff, a definite new favorite spot. Looking forward to going back soon!

This is such a great addition to the Park Circle area! They made me a gin convert! The owner was super friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to take a tour and learn more about how they make their gin. Afterwards, I had the Tom Collins, which was really great. The inside is very simple and not fussy at all. Definitely gives off down to Earth neighborhood joint vibes. You go there for the drinks and friendly staff more than a fancy experience. They used to do a deal with the Junction down the street that if you were waiting for a table at brunch for the Junction, you could walk to Nippitaty and get a discount on drinks while you wait. Overall, it's a great spot for solid drinks in the Park Circle area, and you feel even better about drinking there when you meet the owners and see that they seem like genuinely good people.

This is an absolute unknown gem of a cocktail place. Best in town. Certainly best in Park Circle. The gym is some of the best thing I've ever had. it's going to South Carolina Laver pallet. So I'm a hard-core Jen snob may find it offensive. but I love it

Great local gin distillery in North Charleston. If you are a gin lover or not, stop by for a great tasting of this gin. You will appreciate the flavor and effort put forth into this product. My favorite cocktail was the Collins, it was simple with lemon, a little sweetness and very freshening. Take time to discover what's local and home made. Thank you Traxler for your time and hospitality.

I loved discovering that this organic gin is being made locally. Here we have a "New Wave Style" gin that allows juniper to take a back seat to citrus, cardamom, and cucumber. I love gin that is juniper forward, and I love this gin also. We were offered a tour and a tasting. Our favorite cocktail was the Collins. The space is industrial but the owner/host was great. Thank you Traxler.

Pink 75 and cucumber mojito with Aurora added

Quaint looking building from the outside with a intimate tasting room. They offered their gin to taste upon arrival. We both decided on the Aurora gin which has a hint of mint and a citrus backend. We decided on going with a Pink 75 and cucumber mojito. Definitely killer place for craft cocktails!

The distillery itself is absolutely gorgeous, with a rustic and charming feel, plenty of parking, and a layout that makes it the perfect place to host an event. Even though all the vendors and some food trucks were unable to make it because of the snow, I still had the chance to enjoy a delicious lobster roll and creamy lobster mac and cheese that were incredible. The flavored moonshine was a real highlight and so much fun to try, and the strawberry lemonade was perfectly refreshing. I loved the cute little photo opp signs and all the fun swag. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the whole visit a warm and enjoyable experience. Scotty C, this would be the perfect spot to host a Yelp event or any special gathering for that matter! I am already planning to come back for a tour next time. The distillery itself is just stunning and there is so much to explore. Everything from the beautiful setting to the delicious drinks and food, to the friendly staff, makes Firefly Distillery a must-visit destination.

My mother and I showed up at 12:15 pm for a fun, intentional afternoon out only to discover the gates closed and a plethora of cars coming in and turning around (like we did). I went online and there was no update, no indication as they why they apparently cancelled the event. It had simply disappeared from the page. I had been looking forward to learning more about the distillery but now I will never plan on an event at this location again, and honestly, not interested in wasting time coming for any other reason. Have the professionalism to at least update the event cancellation information. In the short time we were there, at least 20 cars came in and turned around. This had real impact on people.

The event popped up in January and I booked immediately, wanting to have a pocket Valentine's Day surprise. We arrived at our appointed time of 2pm, last available, and the gravel parking lot had plenty of spaces for us. I bet at night it can get packed, they have a local-bar vibe. We went in and followed the signs to the back. There is table seating as well as bar seating, and a nice dark wood funky vibe. Classic rock was playing not too loudly, and it seemed like they were running a staff meeting in the back so we couldn't do a tour. No problem, maybe next time. Our bartender welcomed us and offered table or bar seating, and of course we chose bar. There were several beer taps in the wall, with interesting-sounding names and descriptions that will have to be further explored at a future visit. We were here first and foremost for the tasting and pairing. Our guy gave us the list of the pairings, which was opposite order from the order they were served which was opposite the direction they were intended to be consumed. I enjoyed the chaos and we started with the house gin, featuring lavender and doing an incredibly herbaceous dance with the floral white chocolate. Nice pairing. Hubby is not a gin drinker and found it very floral and astringent. I bought a bottle. The next was the house spiced rum with a pineapple chocolate that was far superior to any Captain or Admiral. Spicy and smooth, a lovely slow sipping rum, or mix it up in a tiki drink or daiquiri. We picked up a bottle. Next, the bourbon. Hubs was not thrilled with their bourbon. He found it had a very acetone hit and while it was not objectionable, it would not be his choice. He is a bourbon connoisseur. I am not. I don't care for bourbon, but this was far smoother, less woody than expected. The dark chocolate would match with anything, really. Last, the rye whiskey. If I like anything less than bourbon, it's rye. But this one was surpringly drinkable, and I could see myself drinking it again. Hubby again picked up that acetone note that put him off the bourbon too. I don't know enough to define it. But tastes vary. We had fun and he wants to do more like this, so that's a W for the event, thanks for making it a fun Valentine's Day surprise! They sold me two bottles and I really like that gin so that's their W. The rest is for consideration. Gotta give em the full 5 stars. Keep your nose to the grindstone, Piggies, you've got a good thing going!

Hardscoop Distellery has a physical location on Clements Ferry Rd., but their ice cream is sold at liquor stores and Harris Teeter. I recently attended a tasting, where I tried the ice cream and learned more about it- and I've since become a fan and customer. Not only is Hardscoop made locally, but they also use local products. The price is very reasonable for the quality of ingredients as well as the alcohol content. A container of Hardscoop is cheaper than one fancy cocktail, and you can eat the whole container in your pajamas while binge-watching Netflix on the couch, with no judgement. Win win. Hardscoop regularly sells vanilla, chocolate, and coffee ice creams, but also offers seasonal flavors like peach sorbet. I tried each flavor, and the chocolate is hands-down my favorite. These ice creams are 16 proof, except the peach sorbet which is 21 proof. Needless to say, it packs a punch, so keep it away from the kiddos (or the lightweights). I can't wait to try some of the seasonal flavors. Rumor has it there will be a pumpkin spice flavor at the end of September, too.

The winery has a large property with plenty of space to explore, including what appears to be a small farm with chickens and pigs. On a warm day, the outdoor seating areas with games would likely make for a lovely experience. However, when it came to the wine tasting, the samples were served in plastic cups, which some may actually prefer. But for us, it took away from the overall experience. And most importantly, the wines themselves just didn't impress our palates. We tried a variety of their offerings, but nothing really stood out or compelled us to purchase a bottle to take home. It's a shame, because the setting is really quite nice. But at the end of the day, the wine is the most important factor, and this winery missed the mark for us on that front. If you're in the area and want to spend some time outdoors in a charming environment, it could still be worth a visit. But I wouldn't go out of your way, especially if you're a serious wine enthusiast.
