Favorite sushi place in Gilroy, I've been coming here since I moved to the area 2 years ago. I always go for the Mango Mania roll and the Philly roll with a side salad and I'm never disappointed. The staff is friendly and the service is pretty dang fast. I like to sit at the bar and chat with the bartender or watch the game. Great, welcoming atmosphere. Always happy when I leave. read more

I love Ninja. The service is ALWAYS great and the sushi is very fresh. Although it's the only sushi place in Gilroy, I would say it's some of the best sushi I've eaten.My son is 9 and he enjoy's it as well. Try the Ocean salad, it's our favorite. read more

This place has some of the best sushi I have had in my life, and I have eaten a lot of sushi. The waitresses are cute. And the chefs are friendly. I am biased because I used to work there, but it's still delicious sushi. The only thing I'm not too keen on is the bar area has big screen TVs, but the blaring noise is avoidable if you sit on the other side of the restaurant. Try the 1st street roll. read more

The Sushi here is good, not great. Good presentation on all rolls, descent size and prices. The service could be below average at times but it does get busy. We like sitting in the bar area, its modern and the whole entire restaurant is clean. I give it an overall rating of Average. Try it and you decide. Of all of the Sushi places I have been, this is the least authentic. Between excessive use of sauce (to hide what?) and the pieces of fish that are badly cut (way to big for a bite) added to the western bar feeling... Not a good experience. People are nice though. But will still not come back. read more

Their sushi is decently priced and tastes good. Their hamachi Kama is my family's favorite thing that order. Service can be a little better. I ordered some rolls and hamachi Kama for pick up, but they had give us hamachi Maki instead. They said another 10 minutes but We had to wait another 20 minutes with a crying toddler waiting in the car. They didn't do anything else to resolve the issue. This place is ok, by that I mean it is far better than the Omikase place. You won't feel bad about spending time and money here. I like this place because I can actually have a moment to think to work out things instead of finding things that are wrong with the food. The staff, around after lunchtime when I go, are very friendly and they let me park in the take out slot when it's raining - much appreciated. Usually there's only one server but they seem to be able to handle things just fine -- in fact they seem to know the menu inside out. Again, I'd like to emphasize that it isn't like the other sushi places where things falls apart even with two servers. I only order the traditional fare because I think the people making the sushi should get that right first before going to town on the other stuff. Here are some suggested improvements 1) Shrimp Temnpura -- larger sauce bowl, one that will fit the entire shrimp or gyoza, in Japan, they use the soup bowl for that. 2)Shisho leaves for the sashimi platter, sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. Maybe you should inform whoever is ordering first. I like it and really appreciate when it's there. 3) Sashimi cuts - mostly irregular cuts, jagged with thick and thin translucent portions. You need clean, regular cuts. If the pieces of fish you have won't allow for it, then you should put more pieces on the plate. 4)When you serve Gindara or Escolar,as you refer to it, it is incumbent upon the restaurant to inform the diner of it's unpleasant side effects. read more

not too shabby. this review is for pickup. Came in on a Friday night and the place was packed. It has a bit of a nightlife-ish ambience, i wouldn't be so against coming here and sitting at the bar to grab a drink or two while enjoying some sushi. It piques my interest to see how good the drinks are. Large tv's broadcasting your favorite sport or tv shows don the walls of the dimly lit interior. I ordered some of their specialty rolls and they definitely cured my hankering. I wasn't in the mood for authentic Japanese so Ninja Sushi definitely fit the bill. read more

This place is really good.. now i can get great sushi and go to the outlets all at once.. service was moderate (-1 star).. the rolls were good.. fish was fresh and the rolls were tight and didn't fall apart.. prices were decent at 10$ a roll for 6 pieces.. i say that about average.. and no desserts! read more

About as good as you're going to get in Gilroy, I think. Food is decent. They have a bar for the local loud drunks, always great fun. And they play two kinds of music, country AND western. Gots da foo'ball on da TV too, don't want to miss out on da foo'baw. Service is OK, it's not call it terrible, it's OK. Considering it's in a common building with Weinerschnizel (5 bellyaches for 5 dollars!) and in the parking lot of Mi Pueblo Supermercado, it's surprisingly good. If I want to eat some sushi (which you can order at the bar) and get a bit of a buzz on and watch me some sportz, this place is actually full of win. read more

So it's now 1:45pm and we got seated at 12:35pm I ordered a drink. Didn't get it till 1:30pm. Our waiter I had to track down by the kitchen and she blamed the bartender for saying she was busy but she clearly wasn't and was just talking. I Still have yet to receive food which is a simple order and it's not even busy in here. That is why I am typing this review during all of this. I've been going to ninja sushi for a couple years it's always been good. Me and my bf drove down from SJ this weekend because we like ninja so much. Ive only had this one instance where I ordered takeout and was not 100% happy with my roll. I called and the manager(I wish I remembered her name) and she was on top of it. I was blown away by the incredible customer service. She took care of everything and comped the takeout meal. I Will definitely still be continuing to come back to ninja sushi! And hopefully someone from the business sees this and thanks that manager from last Saturday night(2/22) for me! read more

I was visiting Gilroy from out of town and was pleasantly surprised when we found Ninja. We both got two bento boxes to go. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the teriyaki beef was tender. The sushi rolls: tuna & veggie were thoughtfully prepared with a lot of attention to detail!!! read more

Not the most attentive service at times, but the quality of the ingredients and the freshness of the fish is really all that I care about. I have been here four times and can finally say that the quality has been consistent every time I have been. It is great having a nice sushi restaurant just down the street from me in Gilroy. My sister and I stopped by Gilroy and found this restaurant. The food was great with a good serving size. I absolutely loved the salad dressing since it was a type of peanut sauce that I don't find very often, but this type of dressing is my favorite. I was also impressed by the lunch prices for the bento boxes, considering the portions and that they didn't charge extra for sashimi like most Japanese places I've been to. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was that our waiter didn't really check on us, but he was still very friendly and hospitable when he did come around. read more

I'm out in GIlroy working as a therapist with some kids that seriosuly need it. I found this little spot close by and it's been great for lunch. The sushi was really fresh, the waitresses are adorable, and it's becoming my theraputic sanctuary. Quick note: the Garlic City Roll is fantastic. I hear this place goes off at night as well. I have never had a bad experience here. Ninja Sushi has great food, great service and an easy location to get to. They have a great separation for their bar and restaurant. The selection of rolls are themed to the area. They have unique flavors that are great on the pallet. The prices are decent as well. read more

Stupid me for continuing to go here, and we will try Sushi Omakase again for this reason, I'll just equip my children with earplugs before we go and take a Xanax. The owner leaves a lot to be desired. He is angry about his competitor, the colors of a new supermarket that he shares in the shopping center and doesn't even greet the customers when they walk in. He has taken great strides to improve the atomoshpere of the restaurant while letting the quality and value of the food fall to the wayside. Mood lighting, 80's neon accent lights and a waterfall faucet does not improve my experience. Dude, get you're a$$ off the barstool, fake a smile and say 'thanks for coming!' That aside, I'll get to the food. Terrible service tonight. I ordered my beef teriyucky medium rare. It came out well-done and tasted like the fish they just fried my husbands order on. That was a turn off because I hate salmon and that's what it tasted like. It was tough and chewy. No, I didn't send it back because it simply throws off the dynamic of the meal, if it was my kids meal that was bad then that would be a different story...mama bear thing I guess. Tempura was soggy and batter was too heavy, so much so that as my daughter was eating her shrimp, it just slipped out from the batter onto the floor. My husband however, loved his salmon. I must admit, it was a nice piece of fish and I'm glad that we were at least 1-3. Beer wasn't as cold as it usually is and service was spotty. The restaurant wasn't busy but they acted like it was, regardless, we were extremely disappointed and wont be coming back nor will we be recommending it again. read more

We had dinner here on Saturday night. The food was great, came out quick. It was really fresh. The reason for the 3 stars was this. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, which was fine, they were busy and it was worth the wait. My thing was, we got our food and it was time for our waitress to "clock out", we were reminded several times that she needed to leave. The bartender kindly took over our table, because she could tell we clearly were not ready to be done, AND STILL were reminded to "hurry up because our server needed to leave" (by another server). The food was great the drinks were great, our bartender Breanna was great. The servers need some more training on etiquette. I don't know if we will go back? Maybe if we know shift times and changes so we won't have to rush. read more
