This place was average in my opinion - definitely a lot of food for the price, which is a plus, and they have a ton of different salsa options which is kind of fun. The nachos easily would serve 3 people and they looked very hearty. My chicken tacos were a bit too spicy for my liking (even with the "mild" salsa) but everyone else seemed pleased with their food. Be advised, I am a chicken when it comes to heat, so that is definitely swaying my opinion. There was no seating on the back patio, so we sat in the front area which was tight but we did carve out some space for our group of 7. It definitely has a fun vibe, with quirky local art on the wall and friendly staff. I would try this place again, and maybe attempt to find something with less spice. Fast, Delicious, Lots of options. Nice staff, able to answer questions about ingredients, although we had prior knowledge of what to order. Soy-free/Vegan - order naked with beans, rice & salsa. Unfortunately the wraps were not safe (soy) for some in our party, and no Daiya available. However, for a fast meal it was delicious. There are so many salsa options to try. I guess I was hoping for too much after reading reviews, but it was a huge disappointment. I guess coming from the Denver Metro area, I expected more "authentic" food. I ordered online which was nice and easy and we were able to pick it up pretty quickly. Right off the bat checking the order in the car before we pulled off, I noticed they got my burrito order wrong, but I decided it wasn't worth the rest of my family eating cold food for them to remake mine. Well, it was pretty much downhill from there, quesadillas were soggy, grease bombs that were almost inedible. My daughter said the side of black beans had a weird aftertaste, the chips were a generic bulk tortilla chip that were stale and could barely be helped with guacamole. Lastly, my burrito was an overpriced version of a microwave burrito and their "hot" sauce might as well have been ketchup. The guacamole was the only thing that was decent, but at $3.50 for about a 1/4 of a cup, I would save your money all together and keep looking for better place to eat in town. read more

Great taqueria - with lots of salsa options, and large portions of their flavorful entrees. My husband and I stopped in for dinner - and I had just a chicken quesidilla - which was plenty large enough for a dinner entree! With a side of just their regular "pico" salsa - which was very fresh! - and a drink - I was stuffed, and happy. My husband decided to mix-and-match an order of three tacos with three different meat/salsa combinations. Three soft tacos was enough to fill him up for dinner (impressive!) - and the staff was very friendly and helpful in suggesting meat/salsa combinations to try. Truthfully, when a place smells as good as Nini's, they don't need my Yelp review to help them. Honest to God, the smell literally drew us off the sidewalk and into the store. And as usual, following one's nose did not lead us wrong -- our burritos were delicious. But you know what's so great about Nini's? What places it, in my mind, above Chipotle? The choices. There are five burrito filling options (sauteed veggie through barbacoa), nine salsas, two rices, two beans, and two tortilla sizes (10-inch means no more painful burrito-baby belly!). This was bland, far-from-authentic Mexican food. I am pretty sure they use Mission tortillas out of a bag and don't bother to heat them up. I got the 3-taco order. The fish definitely tasted extremely fishy, probably frozen cod. I couldn't finish it. I also got the Barbacoa and the chicken. Zero flavor in either... They were pretty much indistinguishable from one another. I was excited to try the mango salsa, but it tasted like fruit out of a can. Another bust. The cheese dip is Velveeta style cheese, and the chips are some cheap, generic brand. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous, but the ordering process was weirdly slow. As each person orders their meal, the staff makes it in front of you. I suppose I am accustomed to placing everyone's order at the same time, taking a number, then waiting for it. The decor is adorable, the staff awesome, meat is delicate and savory. The salsas, though... They are wonderful!! We live in Texas and go out of our way to stop by Nini's whenever we can. Sitting at Nini's taqueria in Durango with some delish veggie tacos (at last a vegetarian dish not full of mushrooms!) and a sublime gratitude margarita saying thanks to my angel hero Tom from Outlaw Tours who had a truck with a gas tank - real filling pump and everything who gave me a bit when I fortuitously (accidentally) ran out in their adventure parking lot 14 miles from Mancos and 13 miles from Durango!!! This idiot city girl was trying to get an uber to the rescue but strangely there were none available - imagine - a place where good people replace the need for on call strangers! This is far from authentic Mexican food! Soggy flour tortillas. Barely spicy salsa. The chips were for sure a generic brand tortilla chip from the grocery store and they tasted stale. Don't waste your time on this tasteless food. Sorry for the harsh review. The mango salsa was super mooshy and was almost like a chunky jam. Just had lunch here today and I was really impressed. I was tired after driving 5 hours and just wanted to eat something quickly. This place is situated right next to Starbucks (good call on location there) so I was able to hit both one after another. The decor (as someone else noted) is really cute. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the prices were actually really moderate in comparison to some places I have seen. The food was really great and well portioned. I have been lucky enough to spend a portion of my summers near Durango for the past few years. This is the one "must go there" restaurant on my list every year, nay, every DAY that I'm in town! My husband and I had just arrived to Durango and were looking for a place to eat dinner, we walked around and decided to stop at Nini's! It was about 8pm and we were starving! My husband ordered a chicken quesadilla with guacamole and pico de Gallo and I ordered the nachos with black beans, sour cream, and their mango habanero salsa. The staff was very friendly and the gentleman told us about their patio out back and we decided to sit outside to enjoy the weather. He brought us our food and we were ready to dig in! My husband loved his quesadillas and he's a quesadilla connoisseur. My nachos were pretty good but I do wish they would have had more to them. They were kinda plain but that was my fault, I should have asked to have some onions, pico, to give them more flavor. The mango habanero salsa was not spicy like I figured it would be since it was under their hot selection. I definitely would have loved more of a kick but it was still good. We enjoyed our meal and the patio! As we were walking out we noticed they were cleaning and realized that they actually close at 8 pm but still served us! It was very gracious of them and we did feel really bad once we realized. If you're in Durango give them a try! read more

My sister and I went here tonight because it's eight around the corner from the theatre we were going to. We were the only 2 people ordering, and they still managed to mess up our 2 burritos. The 2 boys had to ask the same questions about 3 times. They kept forgetting what we said, "wait, did you say you wanted black beans?" "Uuuuh, did you say lime cilantro rice?" The burritos were $10 a piece, had no veggies in them, no lettuce, cabbage, pico de gallo... and by the time you get to the end, it's so soggy! We stopped in here for lunch mid-week on vacation and absolutely loved it. The service was helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious. They do their nachos the right way by spreading out the chips so every bite is exactly the same. My favorite though was their margarita. I ordered it on the rocks with salt and it was fantastic. I like this place and try to stop in when I am in Durango. Always fresh ingredients and if you are vegetarian, you can choose between black and pinto beans for your soft tacos. I prefer the chicken over the beef but that is me. Love their salsas, lots to choose from. My favorite is the chipotle. Ambiance is super casual, good for kids. read more
