I've been wanting to get a tragus piercing but after hearing some horror stories, I knew I had to do research before getting it done and Nine Moons Piercing kept coming up on my searches. After selecting the jewelry, I'm in the room with Elaine and everything was explained to me thoroughly. There was such a joyful warmth in how Elaine spoke that it completely relaxed me. I got my forward helix and conch pierced with Nine Moons last month in October. I came in 15 minutes early and was greeted by Naomi. She really calmed my nerves and helped me pick out and style a few pieces and also picked similar options with different price ranges. I really enjoyed my experience with Naomi because was so welcoming, professional, and really took the time to go over options. After picking the jewelry, Starr was ready for me. The room is very clean and private- and the bed you lay down on is large and comfy :). She mapped out a few locations for the forward helix and conch based on the placement and anatomy and she took pictures on her phone since I had a hard time seeing it in the mirror. If Naomi didn't calm me down already, Starr is really the most gentle and friendly piercer I've met. Incredibly patient. And I would like to believe that her swift skills in piercing made the experience pain-free. I also did my downsizing with Starr and it was a breeze. All in all, I wish I got all my piercings done at Nine Moon- this place is a gem. Super, super, super amicable, warm, and approachable staff that know what they're talking about and put their hands to where their mouths are. I came here for some help on an irritated piercing and was pretty nervous about not being able to do much about it after looking through the price ranges very briefly. You make a reservation and if you're tardy by some time they charge you their deposit fee $40+ dollars. Luckily, we came in early and were greeted very warmly by the staff here and after explaining the situation, were asked to wait. I loved the atmosphere of the shop: spotless, classy, sophisticated, and with a large selection of high-end jewelry for you to ooh, ahh, and oggle as you please. Shortly after, I then picked out some jewelry, and then was promptly taken to the back by a staff member. They tried finagling the hole for some time to save my 8 year old piercing, all while trying to ease my anxiety and talk me through the pain of the irritated piercing. After no avail, we decided to give up and let the piercing retire so the spot can heal again. With all that said and done, I was not charged because they understood the trauma of retiring and letting go of an irritated piercing. I was recommended to return 2 months after if I wanted to get it redone again. If I do decide to reinvigorate the spot I'll definitely be back. They are so bubbly and relatable here that I know I'll be well taken care of. Amazing place for new holes if you have a pretty penny and a hankering for change in your near future. read more

I had such a great experience at Nine Moons Piercing! I spoke with Starr before my appointment, and when I came in, she and the other ladies were all so sweet and personable!! I've had back dermals for over 10 years, and I thought I needed to have them removed for an upcoming MRI. I found Nine Moons after doing a lot of research, they seemed like the most educated, sanitary, and responsive studio- they ended up being all of that and more. Starr could have just removed my dermals, no questions asked, but instead, she took the time to listen to my concerns. She explained that dermals usually don't need to be removed for MRIs (I had no idea) and recommended I push for the tech to try a magnet wand first. Because of her honesty and care, I was able to keep my dermals and still get my MRI done! I made an appointment for piercing troubleshooting back in April with Johnny Pearce. After getting a piercing in St Marks (lol), I knew I needed to see a member of the Association of Professional Piercers. I initially went to the old/wrong address and ran around the block to the correct door. I was a few minutes late but the two people at the front desk were forgiving and understanding. Johnny was extremely kind, reassuring, and offered me options to address my piercing issue. I really appreciated the fact that Johnny sat down with me for teachable moments because I left that appointment with so much peace of mind. I ultimately returned at a later date to have my piercing (which wasn't even performed in studio) removed, which was done at no cost (still left a tip). I am not ready for a new piercing yet after my St Marks fiasco but when I AM ready, Nine Moons is def the place I'd go to in the future. read more

I took my eight-year-old to get her ears pierced by Sophie, and it was the easiest possible experience. Everyone who works there is so kind and made the whole experience feel easy and not scary at all. The actual ear piercing process was clean and quick and Sophie did a great job explaining everything to my daughter and making it all seem like it was going to be great -- which it was! My daughter says "5 stars! It barely hurt, and didn't hurt at all after!" One note -- the gold jewelry itself is pretty pricey -- I didn't expect it to be hugely different than the titanium, so I let her pick, but it definitely was. We came here the other day for a nose piercing for my husband. The salon is very impressive. Clean, knowledgeable staff, variety of gold jewelry. I was very impressed with them piercing their clients with gold jewelry, as no piercing salon does that in our hometown. Price wise, they are slightly more expensive than a typical tattoo/piercing salon. However, it's worth it if you're getting quality work done with quality jewelry. They scheduled my husband for a follow up, to monitor the healing of his piercing. Again, 10/10 professionalism. Let me start off by saying this: my first visit to this business was about two years ago, when I received my nose piercing. I was a very pleasant experience however, today's visit left me feeling annoyed and upset. I booked an appointment in early June to get my nose ring changed - not re-pierced. There was no option on their website for me to input my COVID-19 status (vaccinated or reminder to have negative test results prior to the visit). I arrived early for my appointment as I drove all the way from NJ. I was then told that I wouldn't be seen unless I was vaccinated or had proof of a negative COVID-19 reading. I understand their protocol - which I accept but I was upset that no one bothered to look into my reservation ahead of time to inform me that their website had been updated to reflect this information. I wasted time, gas and toll money. My frustration is not with their work or services - but with their business and administrative practices. If you have a client a 2pm, look at your calendar ahead of time to see what your client needs to ensure you have the proper utensils or whatever you need to service the client. It's called customer service. Because of this experience, I will not be returning. read more

Update: the nose piercing healed like a dream! I also got my conch pierced by Johnny yesterday. I originally came in for a rook piercing, but the stylists(Naomi and Marlena) warned me that it would be a rough healing process (and as long as I was fine with that, they would pierce me). I was like...hmm, maybe not. They were able to look at the shape of my ear and suggest a couple of piercings that would look good, so I went with the conch. I was TERRIFIED because it was my first cartilage piercing, but everybody was so nice and reassuring haha. Johnny is fantastic. He took so much care with piercing placement, making sure it would look good from all angles. I got a PA piercing here a couple years ago. Johnny Pierce made it as easy as it could be. He was quick and I'm very pleased with it.

I have had my dermals for roughly three years (which is a lifetime for a "temporary" piercing). One of them finally began to reject (I knew the time would come eventually) and I was on the hunt for a place to go during my lunch hour to get it properly removed. I stumbled upon Nine Moons thanks to the trusty Yelp app and used the request an appointment feature. Starr got back to me within two hours and suggested I use the website to book an appointment with her. The website was easy to navigate and I was able to score an appointment for the following day with a $5 deposit. The shop is located within Sacred Tattoos on the second floor. It's a huge loft space overlooking Broadway and it's absolutely beautiful inside. Very industrial-looking but still awesome. The lady at the front desk was very nice and told me to have a seat since I was a little early. Naomi (who runs the front desk for Nine Moons) came over and checked out my piercing and gave me a quote for the removal. I LOVED that! It's better than lying down, having a piercing removed, then being told how much you'll wind up paying. The cost wasn't bad (might be considered expensive by others but you get what you paid for) and considering this meant a pro was taking it out with the proper tools? I was okay with that. Starr came over a few minutes later, introduced herself, took one look at my dermal and said, "yep, we need to remove that". I followed her to her room where piercings take place and she explained the aftercare then had my lay down and in two seconds and one pinch later the piercing was out. It pinched but I wouldn't say it actually hurt. She also offered to give me back the jewelry. I was literally in the shop for 20 mins tops from start to finish. Great service! I also asked Starr about a helix piercing with my tiny ears and she explained where she could do it. The original placement would most likely reject due to the limited real estate I have to offer. I love that she's honest, pleasant, and so so sweet. I can't wait to return after the summer for a piercing this time! No fun in letting a piercing heal when you want to swim and be out in the sun. read more

Came back to this place for my second lobe piercing and Casey was amazing! She took the time to explain the procedure, what to expect, aftercare etc... and while I was nervous (don't do well with needles), Casey made me feel relax and comfortable, true professional! This is my go to spot for piercing and I've already recommended to a couple friends. The jewelry is expensive but you are paying for quality and given my ears are sensitive - I'd rather spend more to ensure my ears don't fall off lol Side note: i was the last appointment of the day before they close (6:30, I arrived at 6:25) and not once did I feel rushed.
