Got a piercing redone here that I'd originally gotten a year prior at a generic piercing shop and had to remove. I don't remember the piercer's name but he is good at his craft! He evaluated my ear to make sure it would be eligible to re-pierce without growing a keloid. The process was a tad painful as expected but it came out perfect. Five months later when the piercing was hinting at infection, I returned and another amazing piercer nursed it and tea tree oiled it and it's been wonderful since. I got a piercing from this dude when I was in HS because it was one of the few places you could get facial piercings as a minor, as long as you had parental consent. Wanted spider bites. Guy charged my mom $300. I was new to the piercing seen but obviously after getting more piercings and tattoos elsewhere, I realized this guy took advantage of my poor mom because of the fact he could tell we didn't know any better. he even took a photo to post to instagram--think he decided against it because he knew it might bring to light how severely he overcharged. read more

I went here with my cousin a couple years ago during covid and both of us got an infection and lumps that grew at the place of the piercing The man gave us the piercing. This was my sixth piercing so I know very well how to take care of it so it heals correctly and does not get infected. I had to take off my piercing because it would throb and bleed randomly. Even to this day - it still hurts. I have insomnia and the lumps make it worse because sometimes when I accidentally roll on top of it, I wake up. It also itches and stings randomly. The lumps also have grown since I took out my piercings while ago. I am waiting to schedule a surgical procedure to remove them I have never had any problems with other piercings. I'm back... and I brought a friend. Together we monopolized Sam for an hour and a half bc we love piercings and Sam knows every piercing under the sun, or so it would seem. We deliberated super casually and always pretty quickly, really within minutes of what I "need" lol. So it was decided I need a tiny piercing above my second lobe running parallel to my Tragus- that we'd pierce too. Sam Dotted the area and I said YES. Hell YES- like someone said FREE ice cream or fried chicken. Seriously. Sam has been curating my ear (so far) piercings since March and if it were some area just more painful and arduous to heel than other sites or other people. My industrial and conch have pretty much healed. The only remaining are the double frontal helixes that are still healing. But I'm cleared to hav another piecing on the opposite ear. YES!!! Sam is a genius and I love every idea he's had for me and basically heeded ALL his suggestions. He did the same for my friend who was quickly falling down the rabbit hole of titanium adorable jewelry that just wouldn't stop blinding us from the display case. Sam changed my industrial, inserted the cutest diamond in my 2nd lobe, and of course the 2 newest piercings with their own jewelry. Plus my friend's 5 new pieces. I got a finger tattoo here and he didn't wrap it then it completely fell off during the helping process I came back and he redid it wrapping it the second time. The stem still disappeared. I did it again somewhere else and it's been staying fine. I also got a rib one which is already fading and I got it less then a year ago. I had been wanting to get more piercings in my ears for YEARS, but I am a nervous germphobe who hadn't been pierced in decades. Sam put me and my friends at ease. He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and meticulous when it comes to cleanliness and sanitizing. He gave us plenty of pointers about care, optimal piercing styles based on location, the healing process, etc. And the SELECTION! My only bit of advice is to have a sketch or firm idea of what you want (or check out what he has in advance). I looked for a while to find a good place to get my nipples pierced and finally found this one, with good prices and good reviews- so I decided to finally get it done. Walked in about two weeks ago to get my septum piercing, and had a great experience with Sam. I researched and looked at photos before I choosing NYC Ink. I've gotten a good number of piercings over the years, but I was so nervous about getting a septum piercing because it can be hard to find the "sweet spot" for it. Good lord, the process of getting my septum pierced was so uncomfortable, but Sam finished so quickly. He gave me tissues to wipe my tears lmao, cleaning instructions, and told me to come back if anything's wrong with the piercing. I really like the placement and fit of the jewelry--the circular barbell peeks out just enough. I was so dazed, I forgot to tip him. I came back a few days later to tip, and he was so nice about it. He even checked my septum piercing's healing progress. I'm definitely coming back when I want to get more piercings! read more

I came here to get my second earlobe piercings about 6 years ago. I believe Sam was the one who did them - I honestly can't remember. What I do remember was that the right ear got infected and I had to remove it and let it heal. I returned a few years later for a tattoo and I saw Sam there, told them about my experience and didn't even question it - just told me to sit right down and they re-pierced my closed earlobe because they wanted me to be happy with what I paid for. I went for a lip piercing a few weeks ago and got my labret, which they carefully placed considering my plans for a hoop change. Told me to come back if any issues came up. Super quick, clean, and easy. Only taking off 1 star because I had to ask about cleaning and maintenance and what to expect instead of Sam telling me off the bat as standard practice. Overpriced, got snake eyes done here. Was charged $110 Piercing was lopsided, didn't use forceps to hold my tongue , which could've contributed to it being lopsided. Didn't have mouthwash to rinse my tongue before piercing. And didn't have a bar big enough to account for swelling. 6 hours after having it pierced my tongue has swelled and is now uncomfortable and painful , because of the bar being way too small. The balls on the ends of my bar are now halfway in my tongue. I've had a snake eyes done before at another shop and was a dream compared to this place. read more

Getting my piercings done here was such a good choice! I stumbled across this page on Yelp last year when I first moved to New York and wanted to get two mid cartilage piercings. It was such a great experience and so clean. Everything is sterile and they do emphasize how important cleanliness is when it comes to piercings. The place itself is a small store in NYU territory and I definitely underestimated it! After that first piercing experience there, I went back weeks later to get it checked. Everyone is so nice. Then, a couple months later, I went back to change the piercings to hoops. Also pleasant! Today, I went back with my sister and a friend and we all got piercings! I got a fun new helix, my sister got her mid cartilage and a helix, and our friend stuck to another lobe piercing. We all walked out so happy. Definitely a favorite for me!
