I got a piercing from this dude when I was in HS because it was one of the few places you could get facial piercings as a minor, as long as you had parental consent. Wanted spider bites. Guy charged my mom $300. Got a piercing redone here that I'd originally gotten a year prior at a generic piercing shop and had to remove. I don't remember the piercer's name but he is good at his craft! He evaluated my ear to make sure it would be eligible to re-pierce without growing a keloid. The process was a tad painful as expected but it came out perfect. Five months later when the piercing was hinting at infection, I returned and another amazing piercer nursed it and tea tree oiled it and it's been wonderful since. I went here with my cousin a couple years ago during covid and both of us got an infection and lumps that grew at the place of the piercing The man gave us the piercing. This was my sixth piercing so I know very well how to take care of it so it heals correctly and does not get infected. I had to take off my piercing because it would throb and bleed randomly. Even to this day - it still hurts. I have insomnia and the lumps make it worse because sometimes when I accidentally roll on top of it, I wake up. It also itches and stings randomly. I'm back... and I brought a friend. Together we monopolized Sam for an hour and a half bc we love piercings and Sam knows every piercing under the sun, or so it would seem. We deliberated super casually and always pretty quickly, really within minutes of what I "need" lol. So it was decided I need a tiny piercing above my second lobe running parallel to my Tragus- that we'd pierce too. Sam Dotted the area and I said YES. I got a finger tattoo here and he didn't wrap it then it completely fell off during the helping process I came back and he redid it wrapping it the second time. The stem still disappeared. I did it again somewhere else and it's been staying fine. I also got a rib one which is already fading and I got it less then a year ago. Walked in about two weeks ago to get my septum piercing, and had a great experience with Sam. I researched and looked at photos before I choosing NYC Ink. I've gotten a good number of piercings over the years, but I was so nervous about getting a septum piercing because it can be hard to find the "sweet spot" for it. Good lord, the process of getting my septum pierced was so uncomfortable, but Sam finished so quickly. He gave me tissues to wipe my tears lmao, cleaning instructions, and told me to come back if anything's wrong with the piercing. I really like the placement and fit of the jewelry--the circular barbell peeks out just enough. I was so dazed, I forgot to tip him. I came back a few days later to tip, and he was so nice about it. I came here to get my second earlobe piercings about 6 years ago. I believe Sam was the one who did them - I honestly can't remember. What I do remember was that the right ear got infected and I had to remove it and let it heal. I returned a few years later for a tattoo and I saw Sam there, told them about my experience and didn't even question it - just told me to sit right down and they re-pierced my closed earlobe because they wanted me to be happy with what I paid for. I went for a lip piercing a few weeks ago and got my labret, which they carefully placed considering my plans for a hoop change. Told me to come back if any issues came up. Super quick, clean, and easy. Only taking off 1 star because I had to ask about cleaning and maintenance and what to expect instead of Sam telling me off the bat as standard practice. Overpriced, got snake eyes done here. Was charged $110 Piercing was lopsided, didn't use forceps to hold my tongue , which could've contributed to it being lopsided. Didn't have mouthwash to rinse my tongue before piercing. And didn't have a bar big enough to account for swelling. 6 hours after having it pierced my tongue has swelled and is now uncomfortable and painful , because of the bar being way too small. The balls on the ends of my bar are now halfway in my tongue. I've had a snake eyes done before at another shop and was a dream compared to this place. read more

Getting my piercings done here was such a good choice! I stumbled across this page on Yelp last year when I first moved to New York and wanted to get two mid cartilage piercings. It was such a great experience and so clean. Everything is sterile and they do emphasize how important cleanliness is when it comes to piercings. The place itself is a small store in NYU territory and I definitely underestimated it! After that first piercing experience there, I went back weeks later to get it checked. Everyone is so nice. Then, a couple months later, I went back to change the piercings to hoops. Also pleasant! Today, I went back with my sister and a friend and we all got piercings! I came here for a medusa piercing this past Saturday, which in total came out to $142. Despite the procedure alone costing $75, I didn't mind paying the price, as I knew the jewelry quality is good and I was also paying for a certain level of "professionalism". Sam (the piercer) charges people before he pierces them, which that in itself is sketchy, considering every single place I've been to before takes payment after the piercing is done. When I sat down and he put a dot on the area where I was going to get pierced, he told me to look in the mirror and to see if I was okay with the placement. I liked the placement, but I just simply asked him if he can pierce me towards the bottom of the dot, in which he said okay. When I sat down back onto the chair, I went to further explain where I wanted the piercing placed, as I have already been charged for the piercing and I wanted to ensure that I was getting the piercing in the placement I wanted. After about four seconds of me briefly clarifying where I wanted the piercing, he rudely cuts me off saying "I don't need your help, so don't help me", and then a couple seconds later goes to pierce me. After he was finished with the piercing, he cleaned up the area and then walked away to speak to other customers while I was still getting up from the chair and picking up my bag. He gave no sort of explanation on how to deal with the aftercare of the piercing or anything. I have been to this piercing place once before a couple of weeks back with a group of friends, and I was relatively satisfied with the service, so to receive this kind of treatment the second time around caught me off guard. It was unnecessary and I have every right to speak on how I want a piercing done on my body, especially if I was being respectful and had already paid for the services. And to top it all off, it's three days into me having the piercing and I can already tell it was pierced significantly crooked. If it wasn't for the fact that the main place I go to for piercings goes by appointment and were booked for weeks in advance (True Expression in Elmhurst, Queens, Paul is a great piercer!), I wouldn't have even considered going back to this place, even with my first experience here being decent. Don't charge people beforehand and then provide them with poor service, I'm sure if I would've turned down the piercing and requested a refund of my money, he would've made an issue out of it, so I at least hoped that I would get a nice piercing out of it and then just simply never return to this place again, but nope. I really paid $142 for a slanted piercing and some unwarranted attitude. Update: Refund was given. read more

Couldn't Have Felt Safer! I am a big baby and the thought of piercing my body sends shivers down my spine. Sam is amazing and was super friendly yet professional. He made me feel safe which is super important to me because as I previously mentioned, I am a yuge baby. The process was quick and he answered all my questions. I got my nose pierced about a month ago and Sam did an amazing job. Last night, I accidently ripped it out after a shower and the hole closed overnight. Inaccurate review of moderate pricing ($$). I went in to see about getting my ear lobes pierced, not cartilage, and was told the cheapest gold earrings they had for piercing were $120 each (since I knew I would have to keep them in and didn't want titanium), and another $35 to pierce each ear. So for a grand total of $300 I could get my ears pierced. No thank you. Update: Just for comparison, another shop a few blocks away with similar rating and moderate pricing indication offered 14k gold options, safe for new piercings, at $40 a pair (plus the fee for piercing each ear). As the owner said in his response below (although a little condescending because clearly I don't understand that gold is not cheap) they do have stainless steel and titanium options if that is your jam, that would NOT cost you $300. read more
