While picking out jewelry the gentleman gave me great advice. Judina did my piercing and she was absolutely a delight. She instantly noticed that I possibly already had them pierced. She attempted to see if the holes were open before piercing (which on was). She could've ignored it and still charged me but only charged me for a jewelry change and a new piercing. EDIT -less than 23 minutes after notifying corporate of this experience, we received a refund and an apology. I am sorry I recommend this place, the customer service is abysmal. My daughter received a total of 3 piercings and I received one piercing - paid north of $700. The first time one of my daughter's piercings fell out, they fixed it with no questions asked, no documentation needed. It fell out again this morning, the person who helped us EVERY SINGLE TIME, asked for an original receipt before they put the piercing back in. We didn't have the original receipt and they only had the signed waivers (seriously?!?!?). The person who rang us out each time said the person who rang us out (you) must have not sent you the original receipt and the waivers aren't enough. We showed him the receipt where they fixed it a couple weeks ago and we weren't asked for documentation then and he still refused to perform the service without payment. We paid him the $65 and he told us to take it up with corporate (we will be) and kept saying how nice he was and we shouldn't be angry. The piercer had the nerve to want a tip after this interaction. Good luck with that! Niceness + incompetence doesn't = great customer service. Stay far away from this place. read more

Get ready to pay. 4 piercing for $500.... I was excited to find a place with a wide selection of jewelry, plenty of gold options, and a staff that seemed knowledgeable. However, the prices were outrageous, which was disappointing -- but what upset me the most was the piercing experience itself. I asked for a simple lobe piercing, but as you can see from the picture, the first two piercings were placed extremely close together. On top of that, the piercer lined them up straight instead of following the natural curve of the ear, which will look very ugly if I were to add a 3rd or 4th piercing along the ear as I had planned. read more

Review for March 2024: Pleasantly unexpected! The very clean and minimalist aesthetic drew me in, but the friendly staff and chill vibes are what encouraged me to stay and look around. After chatting with the staff about jewelry options and piercing prices, I ended up doing a walk-in appointment for a lobe & conch. The staff was great about answering my jewelry & appointment questions. The piercer, Kels, was professional, kind and informative. Kels sanitized the space, verbalized each step of the process, offered me a stress ball and encouraged breath work during the piercing process. They used a needle, not piercing gun, marked the area of the ear they planned to pierce and asked whether I liked the placements or wanted to make any adjustments. This was absolutely the best piercing experience I've ever had! The 2 piercings ($50), jewelry - a $30 titanium ball stud for the lobe & $50 triple gem stud for the conch - and tax came out to just under $150. Clean space, fair pricing, good variety of jewelry options, quick service, EXCELLENT piercer and staff, and just overall good vibes. Be prepared to possibly pay a premium for the jewelry if you are set on a particular piece. Got my flat helix pierced here and the service was quick, efficient, and as painless as a piercing can be. I came to my appointment knowing which piercing I wanted and what earring I wanted it with, so that fastened the process a lot. When you enter, you have to show your ID and fill out a waiver on your phone. Afterwards, we were shown a tray of earring options. Note that despite the titanium, gold, etc., earring, the actual piercing that's going through your ear is titanium. I had Payten as my piercer who was super kind and welcoming. When we went around the back to get the piercing, she told me the pickier I am about the placement the better, but regardless she seemed to hit very close to the spot I was looking for. I was in and out in 10 minutes tops. My friend who had a scheduled appt 40 min after mine was actually admitted early, so we left the store even before her scheduled appt. This is not to say they rushed us at all, but rather were efficient with the time. I recently came here to get my earlobes pierced (had been wanting to get them done for the longest time) and had a great experience! I definitely had some nerves and anxiety, but everyone was so welcoming and made me feel very taken care of. They carefully walked through the process of getting pierced and what I could expect. The staff also allowed me to push back my appointment because I was waiting for my friend for a bit more moral support lol and were incredibly flexible. Their service is honestly top tier, they were offering everyone water and treats to all the cute pets who also popped into the store :) I definitely recommend booking an appointment if you're able, especially on the weekends. Their piercing jewelry ranged from $30 - $200+ per earring, in addition to the $50 for 2 piercings. I ended up going with a pair of pretty basic and sparkly titanium studs and I'm so happy with how they look. Huge shout out to my piercer Liv who was so meticulous and thorough with my markings. She offered me a stress ball and even though I have a mid pain tolerance, the piercings were done very quickly, basically over by the time I finished exhaling, and it felt little more than a pinch. She made sure to answer any questions I had about aftercare (I've heard horror stories about piercing infections and probably asked incredibly trivial questions) but she was so patient with me! Overall, I'm so glad I chose to come here for my piercings! I have to say, I really liked my experience here. Normally I go anywhere on Saint Mark's place to get any piercings, because it's fast, quick, and cheap. But I live near this studs location and didn't feel like going downtown, and made an impulsive decision to re-pierce my upper helix and tragus as they had closed up some years before. Connie was incredible, really sweet and made me feel comfortable the entire time. she was extremely careful because these areas had been pierced before, so we had to do it a little bit differently. Of course this place is pretty expensive, it's all over TikTok and it's aesthetically pleasing, very Instagramable. $50 for two piercings, not including jewelry. If you go to the East Village, you're getting a piercing that includes the price of jewelry, so that's why this place ended up being a lot more expensive. After taxes and before tip, it was a little bit over $125. The cheapest piercing jewelry starts at $30. The only thing that I found annoying was that I tried to call beforehand to see if they had any availability for walk-ins, and it is literally impossible to talk to anyone over the phone. They have something called a digital assistant, no option for a human being. So I got there and ended up having to wait about 25/30 minutes, but if somebody could've answered the phone, I would've known when to come without having to wait. All in all, a pleasant experience, super fun environment, but next time I will definitely save the money and just go downtown. read more

Don't believe the hype! My niece, her friend and I all had terrible experiences with Studs uptown. I selected 2 different earrings and after they were in it was obvious they were uneven. We couldn't re-pierce to fix, so we selected new earrings to hide the botch job. Requiring a swap on newly pierced and sore ears. It is a year later and my ears have not fully healed and I have lopsided lobes. My niece and her friend received a 3rd piercing and their placements were not balanced against their existing. Limiting the options they can wear. Plus the haven't healed either. My niece grew a blood clot on the back of her ear as well. I went to Studs on East 78th Street for a "snakebite" mid-helix piercing and am extremely disappointed in their customer service. When I arrived for my appointment, not one of the 3 staffers on the floor offered to help me choose my piercing jewelry, even though the store was empty. They were too engrossed in a conversation about which anti-depressants each of them was taking. When I asked for help, they seemed annoyed and inconvenienced. The piercing itself was fine, even though the artist didn't care about placement. When I asked about downsizing, she told me it's not really necessary, but that I can come back in 4-6 months if I want. I've since learned that waiting that long could jeopardize your piercing. The studs I selected don't sit well on my ear and now I'm stuck with it for 9-12 months. That's why I asked for help. I since got another piercing at Pamela Love, and while it was more expensive, the experience was night and day. The staff spent 30 minutes helping me select my jewelry and the piercer took great care making sure that the holes were it symmetrical. It was worth every penny! I'll only go back to Studs for their complimentary downsize service, but never another piercing. read more
