At the big age of 26, I decided to finally get my ears pierced. In another review, someone described Studs as Claire's but for adults. I couldn't agree more! The vibes are clean, futuristic and fun. As an anxious girly, my whole experience at Studs was not anxiety inducing at all. I booked online (super easy) and then when I got into the store, I was able to look at the jewelry and ask specific questions. The workers are very knowledge about the product and any potential allergies. Gabe did the actual piercing. You could tell he was knowledgeable and skilled about ear anatomy and was able explain the placements. He explained every step including clipping my hair back. He was very thorough with making sure the marks were aligned and to my liking. He also answered any questions, silly or not. My daughters wanted to get double piercings. I made online reservations but arrived early. Staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They took us earlier than our scheduled appointment. Sonny did our piercings (Hudson Yard location). He was so kind and meticulous, assuring that the location of the piercing was acceptable. Piercings are done with needles, not guns. It's much more sanitary and overall better for long term health of the piercing site. It was very quick and relatively painless It's pricey- you pay for the piercing and the jewelry, which adds up, but I think that's now standard at most locations. I decided I wanted a 2nd piercing in each earlobe. I chose this place at random. I booked on line. They gave choices like what body part, jewelry, etc. The charges came up. I thought I paid on line. I didn't realize you put a card on file first. I assume you're charged something if you don't show up. But after the piercing I didn't have the same credit card I wanted to use! Luckily, I had my debit card. So that was what was charged! My piercer was Berline! She was personable & explained every detail really well. In the olden days when I was young, you used peroxide on newly pierced ears. You had to have a gold hoop & turn it a few times a day. Berline explained, you leave the stud in 4 to 6 moths to ensure healing, don't touch it or turn it & if it feels uncomfortable there's a saline spray. You can book a free check up on line if there's s issue. I felt badly because tipping is on Venmo. I did it but I'm older & not used to tipping that way. After I returned home I read on the care card they gave - that the rated the piercer Good Service $20 Great Service $30 Amazing Service $40. Berline was great, skilled, nice & I so admired her style! Randomly stumbled upon this place visiting the Vessel. I had a missing helix earring for a while and thought it was perfect timing. A lot of options and very affordable. The shop is small. Only one glass case of jewelry. The associate helping me was pretty eccentric and monotone, but not rude. Just New York lol They didnt have the first earring I wanted in stock so opted for a similar one. They had a student discount which was nice -1 because I asked if I could put my new earring on myself and he said no due to "biological contaminates" Lol which literally made zero sense because they pierce people and I wasnt switching out one in my ear already. Made an appointment online and arrived 10 minutes early to complete the waiver. The shop is quite small with a small shopping area in the front and piercing rooms in the back. I asked Chris (piercer) for his input on which cartilage piercing to do based on my ear anatomy. He suggested a conch or rook piercing and I went with the conch! (I'll return in 2 months for the rook!). Chris helped me pick the earring and then got the room ready while I waited in the lobby. He was super fast and I barely felt the needle or earring go through my conch! I really hope Chris does my rook the next time I go back. This place is great! All staff are so friendly and helpful especially in choosing jewelry and going over the piercing process. Had my snakebite midi pierced by Elio and he was amazing! So experienced, gentle and was a very smooth process. He had me inhale and exhale which I loved. Wei also helped a lot in helping me decide where I want it, discussed different options and post treatment care including using saline spray few times a day. They sell it there which makes it easy! I recently had a hole done with a gun and it closed up in about a week 6 months later after I lost the earring. Studs put a new hole in the other ear with a needle. I am a total weakling when it comes to needles, but I was put at ease and had 2 more holes put in. I was very happy with my experience. I came here at 6pm on a random Sunday when the idea came into my head that I need new piercings. Because it was so late they were totally full on walk-ins. I was bummed but I understood, it was an hour before closing. As I was waiting outside of the storefront for my friend to meet me, one walk-in had a cancelation and I was able to take her slot! It was soooo nice that they accommodated me! I got two new upper ear piercings and I'm so happy with them! I almost passed out (that's a me thing) and everyone was so kind and got me water and candy to spike my blood sugar. It's almost a week later and my ears only pinch a bit (which is normal) but they are healing totally fine and I cant wait to get more!! My friend and I went to the Hudson Yards location last weekend to (finally!) get our second lobe piercings and made reservations ahead of time. The store itself is significantly smaller than what we expected / what the photos make it out to be. It's an open storefront within the Hudson Yards mall and anyone passing by can see you get your ears pierced since the doors are wide open so if you're uncomfortable by that by any means, go to the Nolita location or a different place altogether. I don't remember her name since she never introduced herself to us but our piercer was incredibly rude and sarcastic. She was helping this younger girl before us take her studs out and she was so patient and explaining everything carefully. And then when she got to her, her entire attitude changed. She asked us what we were here to do and when my friend replied we were getting our second lobe piercings, the piercer rolled her eyes and said in the MOST sarcastic tone, "How original." My friend and I looked at each other wondering if we heard correctly and my mood was immediately soured. I'm sorry we weren't there to get a tongue piercing or something? It was amazing how differently she was treating us compared the girl before us. And to be honest, it makes me wonder if we were being treated differently because we were Asian. My friend went first and the piercer thankfully used gloves and was very clean about the process... but again, she went about the whole experience so rudely. She first marked my friend's ears with a marker and asked my friend to check to make sure the location was okay. My friend was examining her ears carefully since, after all, she wants to be happy with her piercings, and the piercer just sighs impatiently and her whole body language was just screaming "hurry up." And when my friend pointed out that one side was uneven, the piercer was so exasperated but re-did it. Same experience with me. When I posted out that one side was uneven and asked her to move one side slightly higher, she was like, "well then it's gonna be really uneven" with such a tone that made me feel like what I just said was wrong. And when I was pointing out one side could be just a bit higher, she said "I don't get what you're saying." We didn't get a proper post-piercing debrief on how to take care of it--we had to ask first, which seemed very backwards. She's good at piercing but her customer service is terrible. I wanted to get a cartilage piercing at Studs next time but if it's with this girl, no thanks. read more

The Hudson Yards location is very small and limited in their products compared to the Soho location, but the workers there were very friendly. I haven't gotten my ears pierced in a while so I was quite nervous, but my piercer was very gentle and helped me relax throughout the whole process. The overall experience was great, but I was not satisfied with my overall piercing. I requested to get a constellation stacked piercing but it came out very slanted and not stacked on top of each other. I was quite sad, I hope I can get this redone.. read more

Managed to get a spot as a walk in customer as well. They offer a good selection of piercing jewelry, all great quality and relatively affordable. My piercer (I believe her name was Brittany or Brianna) was nice, made sure I liked the piercing placement, and throughly talked through the after care as well. There were barely any appointments available so I made the only appointment that would work (5:40 on a Tuesday). I arrived 10 min late due because my meeting ran late and the workers immediately turned me away. They refused to take me and didn't even try to accommodate even after I explained the situation. They had taken a walk-in in my place even though I had an appointment and they didn't. The workers kept saying they were booked for the rest of the day and couldn't take me at all even though they closed in 2 hrs. I really don't get why they made such a big fuss over 10 min. Doctors, pharmacists, etc take patients no matter if they're late. How does it make sense that an ear piercing shop can't take me? They showed no empathy even though it was obvious I was having a bad day. They completely turned me off to the whole company. Worst experience. read more
