i feel bad writing this review because i enjoy the staff but.... i've been a long-time supporter of mt and have enjoyed their jewelry and the shopping experience until... i purchased the sword (to pieces that clcik together" and looks like it's piercing through. handle on one side and blade on other. i was told if i lose one part of the piercing i could simply buy the missing piece. it was a bold-faced lie. over a thousand dollars, just gone. i purchased a black diamond hoop. a thousand dollars. just fell out one day. just gone. i purchased a five thousand dollar earring. they told me i could exchange the earring back once the healing had commenced. why did they charge me $500 for an earring back i was told they would exchange? wth am i going to do with this lame earring back? regarding the same earring. once i was changing something from it and ended up breaking the back of the earring and offered me another but the gold was not my choice and i had to go on my way with something i spent a lot of money on but just had to eat sh*t. not to mention some of the other questionable things that occurred over the last several years. i won't get into it anymore as i'm tired of typing. the business has lost it's empathy for their clients and does not inform you of practical information related to the purchase of your jewelry. "get it in writing" as one says. i dont know if i will ever return. it's been upsetting as i've spent a lot of money here but i think my love affair with this business is over. read more

I've been pierced here and have purchased jewelry here on multiple occasions. The staff is very friendly and open to spending the time stying your ear stack based on what you are excited about. There's lots of jewelry to select from and I suggest seeing things in person as some are smaller than you might suspect. The piercing rooms are clean and the staff is very good about being transparent about each step of the sanitizing and piercing process. Do not get pierced here!!! The jewelry is pretty, but for the love of God just go get your ears or whatever pierced somewhere else. Out of 6, I had to remove 4 piercings. First they will argue with you, that they won't/can't or whatever pierce you where you would like. Then you will most likely get an earring in a random place and it will be EXTREMELY crooked... Like having earrings on an angle is not fun, and very hard to put in and out. Sometimes it will just be so bad, that it will just keep getting infected even a year later (yeah I removed that one too) Sometimes the placement will be so weird, that it just won't work with the jewelry you envisioned at all. Sloppy, unprofessional and just useless. Find a good piercing place at any professional tattoo place in NYC, just AVOID Maria Tash at all cost. read more

While I truly love the aesthetic of Maria Tash jewelry, the quality has been consistently disappointing. Over the last 4-5 years, I've purchased five pieces--and only one has *not* required repairs. One or two of them have even broken *twice*. By contrast, none of the jewelry I own from other brands (in a similar price range) has ever needed repair. For example, I bought a necklace around 2020 that broke on two separate occasions, each time in a different spot. Meanwhile, I own two necklaces from a similarly priced competitor that remain completely intact. Now, I rarely wear the Maria Tash necklace because I'm afraid it will break again. I also purchased a pair of seamless diamond white gold hoops in late 2021 for $600. Within six months, one earring needed repair because it would no longer click closed. Then, in September 2025, one fell out of my ear entirely and was lost. A few days later when I removed the other earring to take a photo for lost and found, that one broke as well. For context, I've only taken off these earrings a handful of times since buying them--out of fear that frequent handling would cause damage. Unfortunately, that's not the end of it. I also purchased two individual studs on separate occasions. While removing one from my nostril, the diamond fell out and had to be sent in for repair. Though it was reset, the post is now crooked and won't thread properly into the backing. At this point, I'm just waiting for it to fall out on its own and disappear too. I had really been wanting a helix piercing but was on the fence because the last time that I went for it, it got infected and I had to take it out, but I was in NYC for Thanksgiving and we were walking by Maria Tash, so I thought why not! Jorge helped me pick out a fabulous marquis hoop for my helix piercing and I decided to throw in an invisible set diamond stud for a 4th lobe piercing. I enjoyed my experience so much that I went back to visit Jorge when I was in NYC in February for work and we added a conch and tragus piercing to my ear party. I had two different piercing specialists and they were both great. The piercing studios were super clean and they made sure I was at ease before beginning the process. Took my five year old to get her ears pierced. She and me left completely happy. Of course it hurts because it is needle piercing one ear at a time but its hygienic, efficient, highest bedside manner and my daughter trusted them and they prepared us sufficiently for the best outcome. We are now 3-weeks post visit and her ears are healing perfectly and she is so happy. My biggest advice is to parents, make sure you prepare your little ones to understand it is indeed painful like a shot so they have expectations set. Loved my experience at Maria Tash! Everyone I interacted with was very helpful and professional, the piercing studio upstairs was extremely clean, all components were in hygienic surgical wrapping. Great care was taken during the piercing. One con is that the price of the jewelry is high and feels excessive for what is, holy profit. Absolutely terrible customer service. for my wife's birthday, we scheduled an appointment. We arrive and they look pretty busy, no big deal. We stand there and wait while multiple employees walk by. No one acknowledges us. A seat opens up, so we sit down to wait until someone is free. Then after 10 minutes, some other customers walk in and are immediately greeted and one of the employees that had walked by us, greeted them and immediately started working with them. Then another group of people walk in and they are greeted and an employee starts helping them. All the while, no one even acknowledges that we exist. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see my wife's face go from excitement to disappointment. Extremely rude. read more

I was very excited to visit Maria Tash during my visit to NY due to their beautiful jewelry but honestly very disappointed the in store experience. First off, I made a reservation but the store was so hectic. Everyone was busy that there was no one to check in with or getting people in an organized queue to get attended too. I stated that I had made an appointment but the store kept on getting packed in with walk-ins and I had to wait an extra 20-30 mins for someone to help me. The decor was more like a dentist office than a fine jewelry piercing store. Grey carpet, white paint and some stools to wait on for the piercing. The whole decor was did not match the luxurious jewelry that they sold. Lastly, I was a bit surprised the cost of the piercing was not included with purchase of jewelry when one is paying a several hundreds of dollars, or even thousands for a piece of jewelry. I've been to other fine jewelry piercing shops and the cost of service is included with purchase. Lastly, on a good note, Ashely my piercer was very nice and explained the whole process pretty well. The piercing process was pretty smooth and painless. I got the one piece of Tash jewelry I had wanted, but not going back anymore. read more

Lee is the sweetest angel ever! I was running about 30 min late for my appointment (on a Saturday). I called ahead to give them a heads up and they were super accommodating. Lee helped me as soon as I arrived and I never felt rushed as we were perusing through my options. The other girls were super friendly and helpful and I love how everyone styles their jewelry. Real life inspo in front of you as you decide for yourself. The piercer was efficient and nice as well. He had a calm presence and I barely felt the needle through my cartilage. I've been eyeing a piece at Maria Tash for years but live in LA. Hopefully their LA store will be open in the next few months. Otherwise, I don't mind flying back to NYC and visiting this location. I ordered two diamond screw in studs for my Tragus, one for each ear. The day that I received them I came home from work so excited to put in my new earrings. Being a former body piercer I knew how to put them in though they were so tiny it took my makeup mirror to get them in. The first one no problem looks great but the second one I put it in and as soon as I got it in the diamond fell out so I immediately emailed them, mind you this is the same day it was delivered. They told me to take pictures and return it for a new piece of jewelry, then I receive an email saying it was worn and they would not replace it, only fix it. I have one that so far so good the other the diamond fell out so you would think a company would know that if I email you the same day I received it that there is a problem. Now they are saying the post is bent and there is skin on the post so they won't replace it after spending over 1000$ on 2 earrings for my Tragus so don't waste your money. These people don't honor their product and now my only choice not to lose my money is to let them repair it and pray for the best but I have to wait 8 weeks to get it back. They may be good body piercers but I would NOT buy their diamond jewlery! read more

I ordered online plain invisible set studs for my earlobes and the post length didn't work, so I began the process to have them returned since there is no exchange policy. I have had to do this in the past and didn't have issues - specifically trying on a product and returning it for improper fit to which I was refunded - so I wasn't worried about anything even though this was my biggest order yet of $480. From here I received the worst customer service imaginable without any effort to work with me on a resolution. I received an email (Cherry Zeliang) saying that a stud had been extensively worn with pictures describing "significant build up", however this is completely fabricated on their end. The thing is, of the two studs I only tried on one for a few seconds to see if it would fit, and there's no way build up would have occurred in this way (especially being a healed earlobe hole) which was my first red flag. My next concern was that they were immediately denying a refund on two separate studs while claiming only one did not pass the subjective inspection. I replied to the email with follow up questions as the policy doesn't state anything about trying products on one time for fit or if this was being treated as a final sale items, and verification of the photos sent being what I mailed since there was no debris on them before being mailed back. My questions were ignored and I continued to get regurgitated information from the first email saying they will not refund me all in vague language. I asked multiple times about where the "extensive use and build up" was coming from other than a few pictures since it's literally not possible, which was also ignored. More insulting is that they wanted me to confirm my address multiple times to charge me through PayPal for return shipping in order to send them back! Not only is that super weird, but what am I supposed to do with earrings that don't fit? I denied this in writing via email, and had to inform my bank of the situation incase they try making an unauthorized transaction to my account. Now I'm going to have to contact my bank in order to get my money back as well since they have now gone radio silent. Maria Tash will NOT refund you if you try anything on - even if it's a second or you ensure the product is sterilized before mailing back. They'd probably claim fingerprints count as prolonged use! In all seriousness though, at their price points it's 100% not worth the gamble or quality. read more

I sent back earrings that were over 3700.00 the min I opened the package (ordered online) I knew they weren't worth the money. I repacked them, sent back same day. The following day I received a email they were not accepting them back. Blood on earrings, they sent me pix,doctored photos! I have spent thousands in the store and online. For a luxury body piercing/jewelry shop, they need better organization when it comes to customers. I imagine they're losing a lot of business from all the people who leave due to the chaos of having no checkin/line system. It was sad to me bc I watched an Asian woman and daughter be overlooked by a white customer service rep who focused on other white customers who arrived after them. 12/17 UPDATE: it seems they may have started a check-in/line system now. I stopped by today to ask for Rob to re-pierce my tash helix since his pics look amazing. A girl came up to me and asked if I had an appt and said she'd add me to the list. Rob did such an amazing job that I'm looking forward to coming back in a month for another one. He assured me that I shouldn't feel bad asking for it to be re-pierced and that they want me (the customer) to be happy in the end. I also have to say Lee (I think he's the manager) is definitely the highlight of Maria Tash (asides from Rob). He's professional, honest, understanding, and seems to be the most genuine person on the floor. He was kind enough to allow the re-piercing fee to be waived for the same reason of wanting the customer to be happy. I initially got my ear curated and pierced at a local shop in Chicago. Took a year for them to heal and I didn't remove my jewelry for three years because I invested in some really great pieces. When I was ready to Upgrade my pieces, I was vying for a Maria Tash styled ear. When abroad, I visited the Ireland location and it was a a wonderful experience- had an appointment to curate my current piercings by a very attentive staff. I did not go through with purchasing and getting them installed in the store and later on ordered the exact ones (sizing and all) that were recommended to me in during that appointment. I've never had issues like I've had with these earrings. The posts are odd sizes- too long and narrow for my piercings so on top of spending 1.5k, I also had to order backings from their site because you can't use their studs in any other brand's threaded backings. I've also never had threaded studs fall out before, but two of the Maria Tash studs have fallen out within a month or two of getting them installed. when changing to the right fitting backing, the stud fell out within two days. The hoop I ordered came to me with a faulty hinge. The issues I've experienced could go on and on. TL;DR: Don't buy from Maria Tash. Maria Tash jewelry is the most expensive garbage I've ever purchased. read more

I have to wait 1 1/2 hour to sterilized a new diamond earring I bought on Maria Tash website. This is such a blatant lie. I have 4 piercings from this location and it never took 1hr30mins to sterilize jewelry. I even had a custom jewelry shipped to store and once it arrived it didn't take 1hr30mins. Like most New Yorkers, I work six days a week, I have two jobs. I get to the store at 6:30pm and she conviniently states it takes 1hr30mins to sterilize which will be 8pm, closing time. Don't bother buying jewelry from Maria Tash. I have been loyal to her jewelry spending over $1,200 for three of my jewelry and I got receipts. Bro, I am so pissed and I am not gonna argue bec that is what she wants. To then say Latinas are ghetto, illegals, or whatever other xenophobic word they come up with. Not for new piercings! This review is not of the staff but of the piercing service. I originally gave MT 5 stars after having a wonderful experience getting a conch piercing. I stand by that. But a few months after having it done, the piercing became irritated and inflamed. A few days later it just fell out! I went to a dedicated piercing shop and was told that my original (very expensive) Maria Tash jewelry was the wrong length and gage for a new conch piercing. And I wasn't the first one they'd seen who had issues. None of this was mentioned to me when I went in. TL;dr Even though the jewelry looks great, don't use it for your initial piercing. Best designs, poorest quality pieces. Really sad but I won't be buying anything more from this brand. I've bought multiple pieces over the years directly from the Maria Tash store and also retailers. I've had 4 separate incidents with 4 different pieces of jewelry. 1. Purchased a diamond stud from a retailer - around $550 - it fell out a few months later due to poor construction 2. Hoop earring broke - I paid maybe $250 - they offered me a discount on a new piece.. 3. That new piece fell out this weekend!! 4. Purchased a diamond stud/chain combo and but the backing would not stay on the post, too loose. I called customer service then went into the store and showed the earring to an associate. She made me talk to a piercer because she didn't believe it was defective. Piercer said yes, defective. Go back out and had to leave earring for around 4 weeks to get fixed. They ended up adding a ridge to the post so the back would stay. So frustrating, save your money, people! read more

I came in a few days ago while on vacation in NY with a few piercings and jewelry pieces in mind and I had a great experience working with Sebastian downstairs and Ashley upstairs. Only a few ppl are allowed inside at once and in addition to showing and advising me on the jewelry, Sebastian was nice enough to keep my husband outside updated on when he could join me. In about an hour and a half I had viewed the 4-5 pieces I was interested in (be prepared for potential out of stock items), had a quick consult with Ashley on how the hidden tash rook and contraconch piercings would work with my ears (e.g. the hidden tash rook had to be angled not vertical), made my purchase (recommend thinking about your tip ahead of time), waited in line and then had the piercings done. Everyone's ears are different, but afterward I felt nothing all day! Thanks, Ashley! On a side note, if you are a side sleeper, I highly recommend the Coyuchi Serenity pillow. It's an organic latex pillow with ear divots cut out so you can sleep on your side without putting pressure on your new piercings. read more

I'd been eyeing two pairs of earrings from Maria Tash for years. I knew what I was getting myself into price-wise. I finally decided to bite the bullet and I'm happy with my pieces. They are very beautiful. And I appreciate the patience of the employee who helped me pick out my pieces and let me look at a variety of sizes. But be warned that you will get charged with hidden fees to have a piercer put jewelery in a pre-existing piercing. This fee was not communicated to me and if I had known I would have never had the piercer put them in. I can't believe I was charged $60 to put in 4 regular lobe earrings ($15/piercing). I would be more fine with it if the jewelry went through an autoclave for proper sterilization... but the piercer just spritzed them with a cleaner. read more

Horrible Repair Customer Service I received a Demi Apsara Invisible Set Diamond Threaded Stud Earring. (*Currently $3,055) as a GIFT. I no longer interact with the giver. The earring's threads are stripped, and the earring doesn't catch and falls out. I contacted Maria Tash customer service for a repair. I told them that I'd pay for the repair. NO DICE!!! Unless and until I can confirm where and when and by whom the piece was purchased, I'm STUCK with a broken earring. (*Again over $3,000.00 USD) What gives? As long as it is genuine, which they can confirm upon receipt, AND I'M PAYING FOR THE REPAIR what is the point of demanding all of this research and information??? He did an awesome job pulling pieces for me to see and sharing ideas he had. We went with a lotus and it looks absolutely beautiful.
