I've gotten several piercings from Cassi (helix, conch, several lobe) and each experience was great. All of my piercings have healed well and I am sure that is because Cassi is a superb piercer (not to mention renowned and that she teaches other piercers) who uses quality materials. She is patient, not pushy or judgmental, and has an amazing eye for ear designs. The jewelry is gorgeous and some pieces can be pricey but they are upfront about that and when I needed to, worked within my budget without judgment. The studio is clean, quiet, and private b/c of their by-appointment-only policy. Others I know have been pierced by the shop's other piercers and similarly have had great experiences. I can't wait to finish getting all the ear piercings I envision and using Cassi's ear design services. Terrible experience. My ears bled for 5 days and I'm not on blood thinners and didn't take anything that would make me bleed. The studio was not willing to even refund the price of the piercing and said take them out and in a couple months comeback in and get them pierced again (why would I come back??). Just by the photos you can tell this is not normal. I literally bled for five days straight till I took out the piercings. And it definitely wasn't me because now six months later I got them pierced again at a different place and have had no complications whatsoever. They were literally so rude to me and threatening after I tried to get my money back from my card after the trauma they caused to my ears. I literally had to sleep with a towel under me because the blood wouldn't stop. Also they are way overpriced but that's beside the point. read more

I pierced my conch and navel with Cassie on 4/24, it was great as always. Back story: It's funny that I often find myself booking with Cassie around my bday, she has pierced my navel 3 times (I removed it 2 times, patience is not my virtue), she also pierced my double helix last year and one of my nostril piercings over 8 years ago. When she opened her private studio I immediately fell in love with the location and the decor. It is beautifully designed with great attention to detail. Regarding the actual piercing, it is always quick and easy and she is very informative. Great experience. I found this place thru online recommendations. Nice place, clean and friendly. I had some questions before so I actually had emailed them and they answered my questions and didn't make me feel like a nuisance. It's all by appointment only and they mean it. That door is locked! The person who pierced me make sure I had all the information I needed, assisted with picking out pieces and walked me thru the piercing process. Was a different process than other places, where I felt like they couldn't get me out of there fast enough before someone else was already in the chair. In the end, not the cheapest place. I had a great experience with Cassie! I've been pierced at all of the high-end studios in NYC (Nine Moons, True Expressions, Red Baron kinda) so I know my stuff. I also have more than 30 piercings. Things I loved about Cassie: 1. She sells a range of jewelry so not everything is super pricey, BUT there are beautiful pricey pieces (and I would have gotten a gorgeous diamond piece for my forward helix if I hadn't been getting 3 other piercings done today). 2. Her studio is by appointment only. No walk-ins. This makes the studio calm and quiet. Lovely. 3. She is friendly and honest about what looks good, and doesn't drive a hard sell on expensive jewelry. When I told her I loved the diamond piece but couldn't afford it today, she didn't mention it again. (Thank you.) 4. All of the jewelry is gold with genuine gemstones (diamonds only, no CZs). Beautiful! I got 4 piercings today: forward helix, 2 helix piercings, and a high conch. Cassie was efficient and professional, but also friendly and outgoing. It turns out we had a very odd thing in common that made us both laugh (not appropriate for Yelp). I also really appreciated that Cassie had a little form that I initialed that served as proof that the jewelry was sterilized before it was inserted. None of the other studios I've been to have offered me this, and while I trust them, this little bit of reassurance was greatly appreciated. Do not go to this studio. The prices are extremely high for faulty jewelry and you will receive inconsistent messaging from the staff. I got a piercing and was ensured it was a quality piece, only for it to break within a month of installation. When I explained the situation over the phone to the studio, I was promised a full refund and for the piece to be fixed. Once arriving back at the studio (which is quite a distance from where I live) I was told that this was no longer the case. After reaching out via email, I was told ANOTHER different price variation (that was increasingly more expensive) than what I was told in the store. A friend of mine who is also heavily pierced recommended Cassi to me when she was still at her old job, and I've since followed her to her beautiful new private piercing studio. It's tastefully decorated, with really beautiful art, plants, and mirrors adorning the walls. The overall vibe is super soothing, which is exactly what you want when someone is about to stick a needle through your flesh and put gold in it. About the piercings themselves: no matter how many times we've been through this, Cassi explains exactly what she's doing to prep me first. She is very patient and kind, so don't worry if you're nervous--she's a pro, she can handle it. She moves quickly and efficiently (the first time I saw her, I got three piercings in the same day and it was over before I could really think about it). And she is SUPER helpful and responsive when it comes to panicked post-piercing/healing inquiries. Listen to whatever she tells you to do to help your piercing heal properly. Trust me on this. I had irritation bumps on my helix piercing and as soon as I had her change out the jewelry from a hoop (which I stubbornly wanted) to a stud (which she recommended and I ignored), it was gone within two weeks. I had my daith pierced by Cassi back in 2018 before she started So Gold but I wanted to wait for it to fully heal before I leave a review. That said - Cassi is the best! She is a great piercer, very skilful (it was over in a second and I felt no pain!) and most importantly, the piercing healed BEAUTIFULLY. The piercing itself wasn't expensive but jewellery was. I look at it as a total package and I still think it is worth it. This was my first time at So Gold Studios. I had an appointment with Taylor for a Jewelry Change/Browse. I had my conch pierced in November by a different piercer, and came here to replace the jewelry I had in and do a downsize. She explained to me what was in my ear before and what she was changing about it. She made sure that I understood all the terms she was using and was fully with her. She also made it a point not to push any particular pieces on me, but was very good at recommending me ones that I might. I felt very comfortable throughout the entire experience.
