Got the bug in me one day to get a simple tattoo that I really wanted. Nothing big or complicated. I called Electric Lotus and was told that they had walk in availability that day. I headed over and met with Joe from PA. I showed him a Picture of what I was interested in and then he worked up a couple of sketches. I decided on a specific one and he drew it up in a few minutes. It looked like exactly what I wanted and I said we could proceed. The process did not take very long. It was a small tattoo and all black. It came out perfectly. I have lately been thinking about another tattoo. That would be a little more complicated. But I needed some artistic input to make it right. Called Electric Lotus again and spoke to Jae. He didn't have time for a walking that day but told me to arrange a time with him for a no cost consultation. I got a little busy for the next few weeks. And couldn't make it to him but I plan to very shortly. Overall, my experience was excellent with both the tattoo that I received and the service that Jae was going to provide me for the consult. I can't wait for the holidays to be over. So I could have my consultation and get my ink. I've seen Jae's work and it is wonderful. I got a perfect cover-up tattoo from Jae Connor at Electric Lotus Tattoo in Brooklyn in 2018. I was totally lost at how to get my ex's name (I know, I know) covered-up from my forearm (it was wrapped around). I gave Jae a few ideas (flowers? leaves?) & he went with it & created a beautiful flower with leaves that wrapped around my forearm. He had such great ideas about how to make it all blend seamlessly. It was so beautiful when it was done - people are shocked to hear it is a coverup! It has also aged very well. Jae is also a great guy - totally puts you at ease & is easy to talk to. I was so excited to come here! Their work on Instagram looks awesome. I had a consult with Jae, I had emailed him a photo of an idea I had in mind and only a week after he was able to fit me in. Now, it's an hour before my appointment and he calls me that he's running behind, so I kindly came in an hour later. No problem, I am an artist and I work in the service industry too so I know shit happens! I arrived a few minutes early in hopes that I could start to fill out paperwork and whatnot before the one-hour-later-appointment, but another lady came in and he tattooed her while I sat there and waited, for about 40 minutes by the time he cleaned and reprepped his station for me. I'm a very patient person, but I was pretty turned off by this because I did have an appointment and was kind enough to change it last minute. Finally, I get my tattoo... Attached is the photo I emailed him upon consultation which was used as a reference, as well as a photo of the tattoo he gave me 3 weeks healed. I have no words, look for yourself.... I am so embarrassed for this shop to allow me to leave with this on my arm.... I'm very upset that Jae did not tell me during the consultation that this work was beyond his ability! Very unprofessional. Everyone should know their boundaries, it is not shameful... Fortunately, I have an appointment to get this thing removed in a few weeks. read more

I regret ever getting a tattoo from this place. When I visited in 2002, I went with my then-boyfriend, a Boonton resident, to go get tattoos. The place looked ok - clean everything, tattoo samples in the corner, nice owner/tat artist. Being the difficult person I am, I had to "design" my own tattoo. What did I settle on? The character of my last name in Chinese. Now for tattoo artists that probably AT LEAST once a day tattoo some random Chinese symbol on someone who's NOT Chinese, you'd think it would be ok. I wrote it out in Chinese and we had to give it a few tries before we got a copy that I was pleased with. Jae did the whole copy it onto my skin deal and started the job. He was very professional and very considerate. I got it done on my ankle and I guess I must've stopped breathing to try and block out the pain because he stopped and he asked me if I wanted a second. Phew! I don't know where the mistake came from (especially since we had looked it over before he prepped the image on my ankle), but I didn't realize until AFTER the scabbing was done and you could finally see the tattoo that he managed to connect lines that WEREN'T supposed to be connected and DIDN'T connect lines that WERE supposed to be connected. So now I have this tattoo on my ankle which in theory represents my last name in Chinese, but show any of my Chinese friends and I get a chuckle outta them. Please, get your tattoo somewhere else. Not worth the money or the possibility that YOURS could get screwed up as well. read more

My husband has gotten two tattoos from Jae, both are fantastic. On both occasions, we went in with a concept and Jae created a custom design based on what we said. My husband is a huge wuss, but Jae worked really quickly and gave him breaks to eat and what not. I would recommend talking to their tattoo artists and getting a custom piece. Also- I got my nose pierced there and they were clean and efficient. They even gave me directions on cleaning it to take home with me. I would go back and have recommended it to friends. read more

Electric Lotus is my favorite tattoo studio in New York City. I've gotten work done at a number of solid studios around the city but since my first appointment at Electric Lotus, I haven't ventured anywhere else. Jae and Anthony are both amazing artists and I have a killer time sitting with either of them. Jae, the owner of the studio, has tattooed me four times and I can easily say that out of my 16 tattoos Jae's work is my favorite. I am always impressed by his ability to translate abstract ideas into art and by his versatility at tattooing diverse styles and designs. My own tattoos are all in black and grey, which Jae has executed perfectly, but I have both watched him tattoo others and seen his healed designs, and can attest to the incredible quality of his work in color as well. He has an intuitive sense of color scheme and application, resulting in beautiful, timeless tattoos that make a statement and endure. Jae works fast and with precision. Each of my tattoos has healed well and remain looking fresh and crisp. As for the experience of visiting Electric Lotus, I absolutely love coming here. Walking in, Jae and co. are warm, welcoming, and attentive. Despite the high popularity of the shop, appointments start on time and once they do you have the artists' full attention. Jae and Anthony are both great about making sure you are completely satisfied with their rendering of your design and the tattoo placement before getting to work on your body--unlike at other tattoo studios I've visited where I felt rushed and as though something was lost in translation. Everyone at Electric Lotus is a consummate professional who truly cares about the integrity of their work and the joy of their clients. Also, the shop itself is beautiful. The walls are hung with all sorts of gorgeous artworks and Jae has a terrific floor-to-ceiling bookshelf full of art books and references. It is always a pleasure to chat with Jae and Anthony while they work as they are both kind and fascinating human beings. All in all, I just love being here and working with these dudes and recommend them to everyone I know who expresses interest in tattoos or compliments mine. Been waiting a while to give this review, let me start by saying that this shop looks amazing! Jay has been in the game for 30 years and every design is amazing. I showed Jay a picture of a tattoo I wanted and asked him to tweak it a bit with planets and I was estates with the design he gave. It was my second tattoo so I was a bit shaky but he made me feel very comfortable and got the job done in 2 hours. The one on the left side of my chest took 2 hours just so you understand how quick he got it done. It is a bit pricey but you're paying for great quality that last! read more

Jae, the owner, has done quite a bit of work for me from cover ups to brand new tattoos. I've had nothing but positive experiences with him and the shop, and the work has been absolutely amazing. They are always very professional and take a vested interest in the work they are doing for you. Anthony is the other tattooer and while I've never gotten work from him, I saw first hand a large piece he did on a woman's leg that came out looking incredible. I got a tattoo about 3.5 years ago. I went in and concepted with Jae and a week later had it done on my left calf. I got another tattoo from Jae 5 days ago from Jae. Emailed him pics and the concept about 2 weeks prior. Went in loved yet again what he created and had it done on my other calf. The place is very clean, the machines, floor, chairs, etc all very clean. He has a knack for creating a piece that captures exactly what you want. He asks are you ok during the whole tattoo to make sure you are comfortable (as can be LOL) during it. Before you leave you get aftercare instructions and can call or contact him/electric lotus at any time (via phone, facebook, their website). On a friends recommendation we went into Electric Lotus and immediately felt a great energy! I decided to get my 4th tat done there. Anthony was available.... he was friendly, professional and confident. Even though I was just getting a simple wrist tat in black, I was still concerned with placement. He spoke to me with respect and understanding. LOVE the tat! While I was with Anthony my boyfriend decided to get his first tat! He said that he too, felt the good energy!
