Highly recommend Jemin's work! I had a premium experience at Black Fish Tattoo with their artist Jemin. The artist designed the most stunning custom butterfly I have ever seen. Considering the level of work-- I felt the price was SO affordable, and I have been all over the city, getting tatted since 2016. Beyond that, the service was way above the norm. I have incredibly sensitive skin, but Jemin was very careful and patient with me, and continued to check up on how I was doing throughout the session. Both the artist and receptionist were so nice and kept offering me water. The studio is also very clean, quiet, and spacious. Another cool thing is Jemin offered a complimentary touch-up appointment, as long as its within the span of a year. I don't usually see that at shops, especially with tattoos this detailed. I visited Black Fish Tattoo a month ago when my friend and I visited New York for my birthday. We were only in the city for a day, and I really wanted to get something as a remembrance piece for my dad who passed away 4 years ago. I showed him a picture from my dad's first drivers license in the 80's and he was able to replicate the "A" from my dad's signature perfectly. I sent a request to Blackfish over Yelp and received a message back promptly to get in touch with Senia who is known to do great work in nature and script. It was nice that they recommended an artist based on what we were looking for. Senia helped to design something for me and made revisions based on my feedback. Our booking was straight forward-and efficient-good communication from the artist on IG, we originally booked with-made a deposit and we were set-sent our design and looked forward to the day. The artist is a bit of a celebrity so he was traipsing around the world doing his thang (we found out day of) no big-we were having a good day so we didn't freak out-my friend flew from another state so we would have been heartbroken if we were cancelled. Bless her heart, Jemin took us in-she was sweet, redesigned our vision before our eyes and then masterfully tortured us with tiny needles-but not for too long-and created works of art we are proud to have imbedded onto our bodies for ever! I got my tattoo (see attached picture) from David Shin of Black Fish Tattoo and it was a GREAT experience. David was very attentive before, during and after the session to make sure that I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. He did multiple printouts of the design to make sure the size and placement were just right. I never felt pressured or rushed at any point and appreciated feeling so relaxed throughout the entire experience. During the session, he would check in to see if I needed to stretch of grab water or take a break at any point. Afterwards he sent me some pictures of the tattoo right after it was complete but before the Saniderm was applied.
