What started as a complaint about a poorly prepared birthday cookie has now turned into an even more frustrating customer-service experience. I emailed the owner, Alex Miller, yesterday regarding my concerns and have yet to receive a response. Today, I called the store and was placed on hold for approximately 20 minutes. I eventually hung up and called back. I spoke with Ayana, who identified herself as the store manager, and was initially told she was on the phone with the owner. About 10 minutes later, I was then told that he was in a meeting and that she did not have a resolution for me. I was told that the owner would either call me or respond to my email today. The lack of communication and the conflicting information I received have made this experience incredibly frustrating and, in my opinion, very unprofessional. My original complaint was also about the condition and presentation of my order. I ordered a Biscoff Strawberry cookie as part of a birthday celebration, along with an "I Love You" tag and bow. The cookie looked nothing like the presentation advertised online. The icing was poorly done, and the outside of the box was sticky and had icing/fingerprints on it. When customers pick up a food order, the packaging should be clean and presentable--especially when it is intended as a gift. When I initially returned to the store and asked for the cookie to be remade or even placed in a clean box, I was told they could not do so and that the icing looked that way because the cookie was hot and had melted. At this point, the issue is no longer just about one cookie. It is about cleanliness, presentation, customer service, communication, and how a legitimate customer concern has been handled. I have given this location multiple opportunities to address the situation, and I still do not have a resolution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Owings Mills location and would suggest choosing another Crumbl location.
