If you're set out to spend more than Php 250 on a hair cut, and are looking for the best value for…read moremoney and premium service here in the Parañaque/Bicutan area, give Genesis Super Salon a try. At Php 350 for a cut, and not just any cut, but a "creative" cut, as we were told, it's way pricier than the many (many! Have no idea why so abundant, really) salons here in Better Living Subdivision. You get a shampoo, and you are treated with a quick back massage. Their stylist is really talented, and confidently snips away to reveal the said "creative" cut you were promised. If you're a guy, you'll get a super clean finish for those shaved bits along the sideburns and nape that a person with an obsessive-compulsive disorder would approve! If you have companions, they also have a mini snack bar with some snacks and beverages to keep them occupied. If you're in for some mani-pedi pampering, this place has those newer/sturdier kinds of gel nailpolish, too!

I have to admit that I would never get my hair done at Genesis Super Salon for one reason and one…read morereason alone: it's too expensive for my taste. But my wife and two adult daughters have gone there on several occasions and they believe that spending P1,000 for having their hair styled and dyed is a pretty decent deal. As a husband and father, who am I to deny them their little guilty pleasures? From what I gather, the place is owned by a Korean married to a Filipina. This branch along Dona Soledad Avenue is one of a few. A friend of mine told me that all things Korean have become the fad now, from their boy and girl bands to telenovelas to fashion. Every now and then, that Gangnam Style song comes back to haunt me. Genesis supposedly employs the latest techniques in hair styling. I have to agree that when the women in my life go there, they come out looking better with the latest hair styles. I'm told that a few men go there to get their hair done. I doubt if I will ever be a client of theirs. Any salon that charges more than P100 is not for this old dude. Fact is, I still prefer a good, old-fashioned barber. My wife and daughters give Genesis their two thumbs up, so I can only agree that for the ladies, it's an excellent choice, high prices notwithstanding. As they like to say, you get what you pay for.
