C.C., a previous reviewer, is right on the money with her comments. According to the posts here, Kendrick is the "go to" tour guide. Our group was not led by him but I'll refrain from naming ours. There's no need to embarrass them. However, I'm not certain Kendrick is the answer to enjoying this experience.
Here's the deal... You meet and begin your tour at The Blake Street Vault, walk over to The Celtic Tavern, then Double Daughter's Salotto and end up at Union Station. There's also a stop outside The Oxford Hotel.
First, there's nothing the least bit scary about this tour. My wife appreciated the historical aspects of the stories and I found a few to be interesting - a few.
Vault: It's a bar with a basement that includes two very small, blocked-off tunnel entrances. There also a vault. You may enter both. No biggie. (Note: "Tunnels" seemed to be emphasized. I thought we'd experience a few. Nope.)
Celtic - A bar with a finished downstairs where, at least on a Friday night, you can wrestle with other patrons for overpriced drinks at the bar. Our group was relegated to a side-room area near the bathrooms. A server stopped by and then disappeared. I think maybe six of our group of twenty obtained a drink. The story from our tour guide focused primarily on where the bar USED TO BE and its hauntings. As an aside, he did mention that one spirit may have followed in the move to their current location.
Double Sister's - Interesting story delivered outside, in the cold, because the bar was too noisy. I didn't see anyone from our group imbibing but a couple people grabbed a slice of pizza next door and ate them while shivering outside, not due to the stories but due to increasing winds and dropping temperatures.
The Oxford - Very cool hotel. Some interesting facts. The tour guide delivers his tales on a metal bench in front of The Oxford while we dodged LoDo visitors on the sidewalk.
Union Station - At least we're indoors. I thought we were supposed to visit four bars but I could have misunderstood. Also, I would have bailed earlier if my wife would have let me. Enter Union Station, head to empty benches in the back and be regaled with more fascinating stories. Learning about Cheeseman Park being a burial ground was the most interesting history imparted over the course of the evening.
Summary - Plenty of time is spent sitting around in not-so-Interesting bars. The history and stories, for some, might be worthwhile. You'll be standing around outside a lot. Consider the weather and how you dress (it's Colorado, think layers). As long as you Uber, Lyft or cab it to the tour and back home, get a little ripped beforehand. Being inebriated can only help with this experience. And while you'll have the opportunity to maintain your buzz at the bars, you'll be competing with lots of other patrons and you'll pay LoDo prices for the privilege of your mind being altered, though highly recommended (pun intended).
