It was suggested that I get a second opinion and when I called Dr Marchetto, she saw me the very same day. After an extremely thorough exam (probably the most thorough exam I had ever had on my eyes and I have been dependent upon glasses and contacts for over 40 years), I was diagnosed with cataracts - cataracts that needed to be addressed fairly quickly. To say that I was SHOCKED would be an under statement. After having a COMPLETE meltdown (after all, these are my EYES and you only get one set of eyes), Dr Marchetto and her awesome staff calmly and methodically walked me through two months of preparation and severe anxiety leading up to my cataract surgery and recovery (surgery was performed by OCB in Plymouth). I am happy to report that I had successful surgery on both my eyes, and have pretty close to 20/20 vision even as a high myopia patient! Not to sound dramatic, but I hate to think what would have happened had I not stumbled upon this practice. I feel like they literally saved my eyesight for me. I brought back a pair of glasses because they seemed wonky and the gentleman fixed them while I waited, they were improved but still wonky. I figured maybe it was me, maybe I wasn't giving my eyes a break while viewing a screen when I was supposed to so I kept using them. At my next eye appointment (I go somewhere else for medical reasons) I asked them to check and see if the glasses matched the prescription and they said they were way off, that because of astigmatism it's important that they be centered correctly. So, I called and asked for the owner to talk about the error in the glasses. She did not return my call for about a week and when she did she seemed really defensive saying that it is not possible that the glasses left there with a flaw. Then said that they had to special order the frames because I wanted old frames which I was very appreciative of and thanked her again for. She then said that it had been a year since I got the glasses to which I replied I think it's been 9 months but thinking, who cares, I wasn't asking her for anything. I was calling to let her know that the person working on the glasses may need some more training on centering glasses. And to order new glasses with the new prescription I just received (that I did Not expect free at this point but was hoping for a discount due to driving cross-eyed-ish for 9 months). She finally snapped "you'll need to bring those in." Obviously. I don't think I'll ever go back there, she obviously cares more about not being wrong than she cares about her customers.

I had an eye exam there in 2012 (new prescription and frames), 2016 (not enough change in my prescription so the doctor said my old glasses were fine), and 2022 (new glasses). I appreciate that the optometrist doesn't recommend buying new glasses when you don't need them. I also was not shamed for letting 10 years pass between eye exams. It was not an intentional wait, just didn't become a priority since my old glasses held up all this time and only recently did I start to get headaches which is usually my signal my prescription needs updating. Doctor was also reassuring that my optic nerves looked great. (I always ask because there's a disease that runs in my family that the first signs of can be optic nerve damage.) Pleasant surprise, my insurance covered the exam - no co-pay! I have Atnea which in my experience doesn't cover much.

Justine helped me pick out a pair of lovely glasses that I'm very happy with. From my first call to make the intial appointment with Dr Floridia, through my visit with Dr Floridia, to picking up my new glasses, I dealt with Justine the whole way through. I am so happy I found Dr Floridia and such a helpful and caring receptionist as Justine, I know I am in good hands.
