Had an appointment yesterday. Got there early not a single patient there. Somehow was seen 20 minutes late. Had the "pleasure" of meeting Elizabeth Redman and she was rude, abrupt, rushed through the screening so quickly I couldn't tell what was blurry and what wasn't. Told me I needed a prescription for glasses but I guess it was up to me to figure out why. DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN !! Clearly she doesn't want to work at all.. as the one patient clearly put her over the edge! I'm going to have to get a second opinion now to understand what I need for a simple eye check up. read more

Not only are they rude, they don't care to even curb their attitudes or condescending tones. I was told the coupon I received could not be used IF I had insurance.. see attached! . Absolutely terrible attitude when providing even the most basic services. Had missed a single after-hours phone call the DAY before my appointment, and was lectured the following morning that they had actually been trying to reach me for *days* to confirm my insurance. To be clear: I don't mind that this store doesn't accept the most common insurance plan offered by MassHealth - it's frustrating, but things happen! But it is immensely frustrating to be blamed for *your* employees' lack of communication on top of finding out I would need to scramble to make a new appt. If zero was an option they would definitely deserve it. My prescription was done wrong twice and the girl who helped me said in a condescending tone "thats hard to believe they are checked over by three people before going out". This was after the doctor did my exam over and checked my new glasses and said this was not the prescription she wrote. The staff was very unhelpful at trying to get the prescription right. They just kept telling me to give them time even though I was getting headaches and had blurry vision with them on. I called multiple times to talk to the doctor and they kept hanging up on me. My husband and I had an appointment at your Pembroke, MA location on Tuesday, April 2nd. I have to say that it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. The optometrist, Elizabeth Redman, was horrible. She never introduced herself, she did not explain ANYTHING, the visit was rushed and less than comprehensive and she had zero bedside manner. We chose Visionworks in Pembroke as we like to support local businesses, but you can rest assured that we will never go back to this location again. Additionally, we will be posting a negative review for other consumers to view. Honestly, the entire staff could use some customer service training. We were not greeted in a welcoming manner, then the entire experience just went downhill from there. I have been in healthcare for many years and as you know, word of mouth is your best advertisement and with a provider like Elizabeth Redman you will sadly lose business. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have been back 4 times to get my contact prescription correct. I've had splitting headaches and blurry vision and they are so unhelpful trying to get it right. I don't like Vision Work at all the manager named Karen was very rude, she asked my very rude do you have a appointment and I told her no, it didn't say online that you had to have a appointment to look at glasses. She told me don't touch, more that 10 parts of glasses at a time because she, can't be doing all of that cleaning. She also said very rude no more than 25 people in the the store at a time and there was only 5 people in the store at the time and they were all white. So I think she has a problem with black people, which is very sad in 2021. This is a horrible manager for Vision Work, so I went to Pearl Vision to get my glasses and they were wonderful and so nice to me. I will never go to Vision Works again and anyone I know I will tell them not to go to the Vision Works in Pembroke Massachusetts because the manager is so rude. read more

Amazing service provided by Karen. I can no longer wear contacts everyday and I'm not too happy about it. Karen helped me find everyday glasses and sunglasses that actually look good on me. The glasses I currently wear, I learned, are too big for my face. No wonder I look like a freak! Now not to say that I am suddenly a model with the frames Karen helped me with but I am much more comfortable with the way I look in glasses. Karen patiently helped me select frames. She made suggestions and most importantly, told me the truth. Too big for my face, too small, not a good color, etc. I found frames for my everyday glasses. Karen suggested a frame for my sunglasses. Looking at them, I thought, "no way!". They were nothing that I would have ever picked and they didn't have shaded lenses. I tried on and it was a no go. Karen then changed out the lenses to a sunglasses lense. I tried on and perfect!, I love them. Karen saw the vision and she was spot on. I brought my son there for his eyeglasses. I have a VSP plan through work, and the glasses my teenage son wanted were about $15.00! They had a massive selection, and the person we worked with was very helpful in directing us to the frames that would be covered by my plan. The glasses were ordered and came in when they said they would, and my son has been very happy with them. Start to finish we had a very positive experience. I had not planned on starting the day with broken glasses (the arm snapped off). Long story short, it's August in New England and the duct tape wasn't cutting it. After a full day of wearing crooked, wobbly glasses I basically walked into this branch of Visionworks saying "Take my money." Several phone calls were made earlier in the day (questions about insurance and logistics), one of which was to ask specifically if an appointment would be needed. The answer was "No". I walked up to the counter and was greeted by an awkward, older lady. I explained that my glasses were broken and I needed them replaced. She asked me "Did you purchase them here?" I answered, "No". At this point, the next step would have been to explain my options. But INSTEAD this woman goes on to tell me not once, but TWO times that if I had purchased them there, I would have had a one year warrantee and they would have replaced them at no charge. I ask you, what is the point of that? Rub some salt in the wound because what I really love doing with my very limited free time is replacing broken glasses and also paying too much money to have them replaced. Let's take ten minutes to reflect on what my life COULD have been if I'd only purchased my glasses at Visionworks and ALSO made sure that my glasses were broken three months earlier (instead of today) so that I could still be covered by their don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it warrantee. I responded that I'd already owned the glasses for over a year, so..... (Insert blank stare and awkward silence) At this point I was irritated, but still wanting someone to just take my money and fix my life. But no. She wants a current prescription. How current? A year. Sucks for me that I've owned these glasses for about 16 months. Now I need an eye exam even though I've had NO change in my vision and if my glasses hadn't been broken I wouldn't be in for another two years, at least. Busted Librarian then tells me that the schedule is full and same for tomorrow...lets see, okay Tuesday. Wait, what happened to 'we take walk-ins' - no appointment necessary, just come on over??? "Oh, that's for when we have time available." "So you mean I DO need an appointment?" "No." I told her I had to make a phone call in an effort to leave (and also not be arrested for throat punching) and she then asks me if I want to take a business card so I have their contact information. Let me say this: I would rather pay twice as much at one of Visionworks competitors than ever set foot in that place again. Ordered a duplicate set of my exact frames on eBay for $48 and Pearle Vision has graciously agreed to swap the lenses out for me. Imagine that. read more

I visited this Visionworks about a year ago for an eye exam and ended up purchasing a pair of glasses. I won't get into the slow service and ridiculous attempt to get me to buy more than I wanted or could afford. Thankfully I was advised by a friend to be sure to get a copy of my prescription. Recently I decided to check out some online options for more affordable glasses. Simple enough as I entered all the numbers on my prescription, however low and behold there is nothing written for PD. So I call asking for that information. First the woman insists that it is written on my prescription, I assure her it is not. I was then put on hold for a good five minutes and then disconnected. I call back and put on hold again. She finally comes back and in a condescending tone tells me it must be written right there. I describe the prescription I am looking at and she says that's not theirs. O really? I read the top down and explain that it was signed by Dr. X. "Oh she was just a fill in Dr., she doesn't work here anymore, our Dr always puts the PD on the prescription." So I ask if she has a copy of my prescription and was told no. I know my PD was taken that day and not written down on my prescription. Massachusetts law states that they must give you your PD, not all states require this. Buyer beware of Visionworks. read more
