This place is tucked back in the middle of a small strip mall. My son actually told me to try it. The owner of this small joint brought pizza to his elementary school class & now my son is in love with this place. I am not a big pizza fan, but I gave in and I am glad I did! They have your typical pizza options, but I am so glad to see that they have unusual pizza's to choose from. I ordered the CMA pizza which had Alfredo sauce, chicken and mushrooms; their citrus salad; and some breadsticks. All of which were delicious! I would've given a 5 star rating, because this is our go to pizza place for the past 10 years in Provo. However, we have been here 2 times in 3 weeks and I am disappointed. The first time we went there were a few people, but not enough to make us wait over 45 minutes for our cheese pizza. There were people going in after us and leaving before we even got our pizza. We had to go remind them 3 times that we were waiting, to which they replied "sorry we got your order wrong". A cheese pizza? Doesn't seem hard. Then, the second time (tonight) we had to wait 45 minutes again for 3 slices of pizza and 1 small pizza. Same thing happened. People that came and ordered after us got their food and left before we got our pizza. So disappointed. Wonderful pizza place! I believe they claim to be from New England, and the pizza definitely reminds me of the kind I had when I lived out there. The pizza was so flavorful with its delicious cheese. The lack of beer means I'm not going to be dining in. I'm not a huge fan of take out pizza. I know the lack of beer is not an really an issue for a place catering to BYU and the majority population. I have to assume that many of the 5 star reviews are by people who don't travel more than 2-3 miles from BYU. When you factor in the entire experience, it's more of a 3.5 experience, but the pizza is so good by local standards, it's easy to round up. I've been guilty of always ordering the pre-built specials. yesterday I was with a friend that got pepperoni, sausage and jalapeno in a calzone. That sounded great -- and it was. They put tons of everything, including the jalapenos in it. With red pepper flakes, it was seriously spicy and tasty. I could get picky, and let's be honest -- I usually am, and mention the overly sweet sauces. But, the quibbles are minor enough that I won't mention it. read more

This is my favorite pizza in provo and I eat a lot of pizza. The food is great but it also has as great atmosphere. You can't spend five minutes in the place without hearing the owner nick shout out and order in his trademarked high pitched boston accent. You have to eat here atleast once when you stay in provo and maybe even once a week. I usually get the mahrgarita pizza which is only made better by the bucket loads of oil sitting on it. My other favorite is the steak and peppers calzone. Both of these items work as a great lunch combo which comes with a salad and a drink. The salads are also great here and I am pretty sure the house dressing may be laced with cocaine. It is delicious and I crave it by itself. read more

Honestly, I don't think the quality is terrible, only changed slightly in a few minor ways. But the atmosphere does feel quite dimished. The new owners were doing their kids laundry in the shop, hung on a line above us, and the whole place smelled like flowery laundry detergent instead of the normal pizzaria smells. The salad was fresh and the dressing was as good or better than nics. The pizza was not...too much cheese, the dough was heavy and seemed overworked. The pizzas are now served on tuscan style, dollar-store plates instead of the old, white food service ones. The whole place feels a little too sterile, not in a good way, but more of my moms living room sort of way. We went at 12:15 on a Tuesday and the empty lot and store should have warned us. This is my 2nd time at Nicolitalia, and they haven't let me down! The food is delicious, service is friendly, and the location is great. Here's what they do well: 1) Great food. The pizza is amazing. They have some unique signature pizzas, or you can stick to the classics. The crust isn't heavy, the sauce/cheese proportion is on point, and you can taste the quality ingredients. Don't feel limited to just pizza either. The salads and desserts are very memorable as well. 2) Service. It's a family business, and it feels like it...in a good way. They care if you're satisfied with your pizza. This ain't no Papa John's where they're just pumping out pizza all day without caring. Love is baked into each bite, and they want to make sure you've enjoyed your experience. 3) The location. The new location is great. Not out of the way, and parking usually isn't an issue. Here's what they could improve on: 1) The restaurant itself. While the location is great, I didn't love the interior. Felt very mom and pop inside (which is great), but could still use some updating. 2) Breadsticks. This one seems silly, but we got the breadsticks and garlic knots, which both tasted almost identical. Was a bit let down by these. Overall, I loved my experiences here, and will return! read more

Stop number 2 on Utah Journey 2016 took us out to find a dinner spot the night before my first marathon. I was looking to find something simple that wouldn't make me sick before my big run. Pasta came to mind. After searching on Yelp my friend and I found this place. Upon entering it smelled pretty good. Being originally from the East Coast I was a bit worried about trying the pizza. That is what my friend ordered. I ended up going with pasta with marinara sauce. They have combos here so you can get one of these combos with a main dish, a salad and a drink. All very reasonably priced. Most hover around the $8 mark. When the food came out I was quite happy with the way mine looked. The pasta and sauce were quite tasty and the hot bread that came along on the side was very good as well. It was exactly the meal I was looking for. My friend said the pizza was not very good. We both know Utah is not famous for their pizza. If you are looking for affordable Italian style food and you are in the area you might give this place a shot. read more

It's the best pizza in Provo/Orem. Eat here twice a month. But it's not comparable to good pizza in the east like NYC or Jersey. They could do so much better. They need to cook the pizza a little longer so the undercarriage of the pizza is more firm. The cheese is on the light side. Always have to order the pizza with extra cheese and always ask for it well done. About 50% of the time they listen and do this. Ahh, it was so hard to know how to rate this place. The pizza was 5 stars, no question, High quality, fresh, and a delicious non-rubbery thin crust. The fresh garlic and extra cheese on the Italian Stallion were out of this world. The wings were good too - big, meaty, and the buffalo sauce was not so overpoweringly hot as to drown out the flavor (which is one of my least favorite features of some buffalo sauces). I was disappointed that the blue cheese sauce came in a Newman's packet, but I guess that's not a huge deal. The service knocks them down a few stars. They were friendly-ish, but messed up our order and the order of the table next to us - and weren't particularly quick about it either. So we waited a strangely long time for how not busy the place was only to receive the wrong pizza. It was good and we'd been waiting long enough that we didn't feel like it was worth it to swap it out, but I think that was a fortunate outcome. The employees just didn't strike me as being particularly focused or motivated or careful, and there was a kid running around in the kitchen. I will probably return because the pizza was so good, but it may not be soon. Also, I just have to say - I hate places that give their food gimmicky names that make you feel like a fool pronouncing it.
