(ALLISON) Haven't gotten a haircut in about 4 years. Being a mom it's hard to find time away from your kids.. I finally made an appointment expecting somewhat nice results considering how nice the inside is, how it's a salon and not great clips and the price. Well, it's day two and I'm still upset. Coming home realizing there's obvious huge random chunks of unchopped hair. I cut it immediately because it made me cringe. I'm still finding unevenness that I will fix myself because I'm no longer trusting anyone especially no one here. I asked for layers and I'm so grateful she DID NOT LISTEN TO ME :) because I can't imagine how disgusting it would've been if probably be better shaving my head bald. I asked for bangs and she cut about 20 hairs to make the beautiful waterfall bangs I asked for. Her name is ALLISON. She seems to have no experience or common sense at all? I have no education in hair and I know when something is CLEARLY WRONG. I'm not confrontational and thought maybe I was just seeing everything wrong but I came home and it was indeed worse than I could imagine. She insisted on curling my hair too now I know why it's harder to see how shitty of a hairstylist you are when your hair is curly! Absolutely horrible. If she works here I would not trust ANYONE here. Please no one deserves this. Especially a mom who does nothing for herself. Do yourself a favor. Heartbroken. read more

I went to Angie for a haircut based off a recommendation. She was so sweet and personable! She made sure that my cut was exactly as I wanted it to be even though I was her last cut of the day and it meant making a few tweaks after she had done the cut. Definitely recommend her! Sarah is the best! Sarah got my to blonde safely and keeps my fine hair healthy. I have learned, as I got older, that there are certain things you just need to pay full price for. Your hair is one of them!! It is expensive- but I have never left not loving my hair or my experience. I also love that they have continued education for their stylists and apprenticeships for new stylists. I think this keeps them accountable to their work and therefore give you, the customer, a better outcome and experience. The interior decoration and overall design of this salon is fantastic. I came in as a walk-in and was able to get my eyebrows waxed. When I sat down in the chair and leaned back, the lady that was going to wax my eye brows slammed the sink down right onto my neck. I have been in pain ever since I left. Plus she left my eyebrows a little to short but they are much more neat than when I arrived. She peeled off the wax really slowly. With more time and practice she will do great. She said she is working as an apprentice and got the job because her cousin went to school with the owner I think it was. Hopefully she will get more practice. What a beautiful salon! I've been here a handful of times now and have been lucky to have Audra D. work on my hair. I don't hop around to too many salons, but this one in particular has stood out with its cleanliness, snazzy artwork, hardwood floors and all around trendiness. So far I've gotten a trim and highlights when I've visited and I've been very pleased each time. The only struggle I have coming here is the temptation to stop at the Starbucks before walking in. It's literally RIGHT next door, so, well ... you know how it is with Starbucks temptations. Would definitely recommend this salon if you're seeking a place in Carmel. I would have enjoyed my appointment more if my hair stylist hadn't felt the need to pry about my life. I was just there to get my hair done, and the first question I'm met with, three seconds after sitting in the chair, was: "Where do you work?" That eventually turned into: "What do you do?" I responded and was immediately met with a follow-up question: "So, do you work a regular work week, or how does thst work?" I genuinely felt interrogated, let alone that I gave palatable answers to every question, as opposed to answering honestly. Maybe not everyone wants to talk about their work. That doesn't mean the stylist should act more and more invasively, in an attempt to figure out the customer. Also, the question: "Do you intend to grow this out, or...?" really implies that I need to grow my hair out. But what if I don't want to? The question needs to be worded: "What's your goal, as far as length goes?" This is just part of working in a tip-based profession. That said, my hair was styled very professionally, and I'll return. read more

Her head massage is amazing and almost put me to sleep, it also got rid of the headache I had coming on. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. I scheduled an appointment online that gave me their "upfront pricing" that they advertise and post on their site. As soon as I get to the salon and sit in the chair my stylist says there's a 30 percent up charge!!! Saying that she requires the use of some creme and a toner. I preceded to say if that is required then it should be posted online and in the quote I was sent. Then she said those were priced out on their "a la carte menu"....well if it is "a la carte" then why is it required? Her response was "I don't know I don't make the prices". THIS SALON IS A HUGE BAIT AND SWITCH. My advice is to make sure you call ahead and confirm 1000x the price before they try to swindle more money out of you when you're already in the chair. My stylist (I wish I could remember her name) was very cheerful and understanding of my budget and gave very informative suggestions. Today was my first visit to this salon and I'm extremely happy with my experience! The atmosphere is very upscale which can sometimes be intimidating, however, the receptionists were very welcoming and offered a beverage upon check-in. Gina was very nice and professional. Brought in my 11 year old for a hair cut, showed the stylist pictures. Did not cut hair as short as we had asked. Daughter said it was ok and we walked out. (Hair cut was $45, plus tip) Daughter cried in the car that this wasn't what she asked for. I called the salon back immediately and explained that as an 11 year old she felt a little embarrassed telling an adult she didn't like what they had done, and could they please fix it? The receptionist was very nice and said to come back in. Just before we came back the owner called me and told me we would be charged for a new hair cut, when her first one was literally 2 hrs prior. I tried to explain to her that at 11 this is kind of new territory and a learning moment, but for the sake of good customer service and retention, please at least fix her hair so she's happy. I don't think I should have to pay over $100 for a simple 11 year olds hair cut. She refused. I was livid. Will not be coming back again. read more

I am very disappointed with this salon. I asked for a natural-looking balayage, but after two attempts, I am left feeling frustrated and disappointed. I have been getting my hair balayaged for several years, but let the last one grow out several inches. I wanted the blonde to be brightened and brought up around my face and around the crown of my head. Instead of hand painting areas around my crown, the stylist put VERY stripy highlights all over my head. There was nothing natural looking about it, and there was a large disconnect between my previous balayage and the new highlights. Upset with the result, I called the next morning and asked to see another stylist. I was told by the manager that I had to see the same stylist despite my vocal hesitation. A week and a half later, I went in for my redo with the same stylist. Although she was kind, I feel like she wouldn't listen to me and just did her own thing. I even tried showing her pictures to further describe how I wanted a blended balayage. While she toned down the highlights a bit, she "corrected" her work by merely adding in a bleached strip on the the front (top only) part of my hair. No blending, just a big strip of blonde. (See pictures.) Needless to say, do not go to this salon if you are looking for a true balayage. Not unless you want to be out $300 and look like Rogue from X Men. read more

First off, the salon is gorgeous! Everything looked completely brand new. Love the cabinets where the stylist can put your things away so they aren't sitting on the floor. But most important, the cut and color by Sarah was AMAZING. She really took time to understand what I wanted even if I wasn't completely clear on my idea. What's that you say? You have anxiety about getting your hair did?? Not here you won't! Right from the very beginning- when I walked in the front door, I was greeted with smiles from the lovelies at the front desk and my stylist, Gina, was right there waiting for me to arrive! They offered to take my coat and asked if I'd like a beverage (they offer wine and I believe champagne, so obviously I said yes, please!) Sitting in the chair, Gina and I chatted about what I'd like to do that day - my main concern was just getting it back to a healthy state (after years of self-induced torture with lots of flat iron use, this color, that color - it was a hot head mess!) Anyway, we talked it out, she reassured me my lovely locks were gonna be ok and she got to work. Everything from the scalp massage at the bowl, to the scent of the amazing products they use - I think I fell asleep! I was in absolute salon heaven! Then time for some snipping here and a snip snip there. Her concentration could not be broken, but she still engaged in conversation (and I'm a talker!)! She explained each product she was using in my hair and did a quick dry. After all was said and done, I wish I could've lathered, rinsed and repeated my whole experience. I had a poor experience at this salon. My stylist was Jordan. She is incredibly unprofessional. She started off by not even introducing herself to me. Then when consulting about my hair color, her knowledge on color choices was quite poor. Her lack of experience was evident. She tried to convince me to go another way with no logical explanation. Proceeding with the coloring process she continued to have an unfriendly attitude. In addition, she gave me attitude when asking her for first aid supplies as I hurt myself prior to coming into the salon. With her working in customer service she should've known how to properly talk to customers. Furthermore my blow out for my hair came out terrible with little effort put in. I could've done a better job myself at home. Her knowledge, skills and attitude were a big turn off to this salon. read more

This was my first time at this salon. I had been delaying getting my haircut bc i am new to the area. I had waited long enough, so found this salon on yelp to have good reviews. The salon is very trendy and modern. As soon as i checked in, they got me a drink - Diet Coke. They had set me up with Sara, a senior stylist for my needs. She was very professional. She listened to what i wanted and gave me a very nice hair cut/style. She also did an excellent job with my eyebrows. I'm always a bit nervous to get my hair cut with new people, but she did ease my nerves. At the end, i was happy with my cut. She did push product a bit and i was a little pressured to buy. Alright, so after years of crying as soon as I would leave a salon ( thanks for the bowl cuts you jerks) I have finally found some one who loves my curls almost as much as I do! Brooke is an AMAZING stylist! So amazing that I even let her cut my hair!:) first time I saw Brooke I was apprehensive from years of bad cuts on my curls, after stressing my concerns, I left her chair with probably the best damn haircut I have ever had!! So after she had me addicted to her curly head "dry" cuts, she and a fellow stylist opened Nicole Bryan salon, and here I am every 6 weeks, almost three years later, a truly devoted fan. The new salon is simple put, a wonderful combination of modern elegance and comfortable beauty. Natural light floods the design floor which is awesome especially when you are getting a colour. The shampoo area is in the back where it is a little darker which makes it really nice to close your eyes while getting your scalp massaged. The receptionists are always super friendly as are the other stylists, the decor is impeccable and to top it off they sell Davines! 'nuff said! I just cannot say too many great things about this salon! Its awesome, but really, I guess that's how I roll... :) read more

I went here my first time and will not be coming back. I got a haircut and wanted my hair to go back to my original (or close to my original) Brunette hair color (so I asked for her to take out as much blonde in my hair as possible). My stylist was nice but did not listen to what I wanted at all. I even showed her a picture of what I would like. My haircut was normal and came out like expected; however, my hair was blonder than ever before. There were even a few strands that turned a greyish color because it was so light. I was so mad I just paid and left. The worst part was it was 200 dollars!! The most I have ever spent on my hair. Long story short, I got another appointment (free of charge) with another stylist to fix my hair. Even though it's fixed, my hair color has seemed to fade faster than it ever has. I've been off the review train for a bit, but had to jump back on. I had the best experience here earlier this week. Let me start by saying I'm beyond picky when it comes to my precious curly hair. No one, and I mean no one, in my 27 years has been able to really cut and style my hair. For some reason, naturally curly hair freaks out most stylists. Ashley was a dream. Being a curly girl herself, she knew exactly how to treat my locks. After an extensive (dry!) cut, she treated me to a scalp massage and thorough education on the best products and styling practices for my hair. Incredibly educational! I left with hair curlier than I'd ever seen it. It still feels so soft, shiny and uber curly. She did a fabulous job, was so informative and you could tell she loves her job. On top of that, the actual salon is gorgeous and clean. The ladies at the desk are friendly and polite. More expensive? Definitely. But, you get what you pay for. I will absolutely continue seeing Ashley when I need my hairs did! read more

The service was nice as was the atmosphere but the pricing and servicing fees are deceptive and way off. I went in for a deep conditioning service which shows a menu price of $15+. After the treatment, she asked how I wanted my hair styled and I replied, I am going home and going to sleep, so not much effort. It was a 7:30 appointment which I was serviced for at 8. My hair was blown dried and waved for maybe 20 mins of effort. At checkout my bill was $50 for a deep conditioning treatment which has a menu list price at $15. Evidently I was charged a $30 styling fee which I refuted based on my schedule appointment service and 9:00 finish time. The treatment was "expensive and good quality" was the only response the front desk provided whe I pointed out the service fees still dos not add up. I pointed at the pricing menu which showed $15+ and was told that this service is an add on; no where does it says this on the website and they don't have printed brochures. I paid the fee but was extremely dissatisfied with the response which is not supported in printed text on the website. Additionally my stylish did not return to the front to explain any of the charges. My husband purchase a gift card for me as a Mother's Day gift and based on this experience I will not return or recommend. read more

I specifically chose Nicole Bryan because of Ashley Z. I swear she is a curl GENIUS. Ashley is very knowledgable on curly hair, she's friendly, so cute, and will give you the exact style you request. She takes her time to perfect the curls. She's an Advanced Deva Curl Specialist, so she definitely knows what she's doing!!
