I'm finally happy with a new haircut! I went to Pure Concepts for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. They got me in the week of with Paige and she did a great job. Although she was very quiet, she was very focused and allowed me to have a relaxing experience. The receptionist was also very friendly. I was offered some infused water when I checked in and only waited for about 2 minutes. I just wanted a haircut so I started off by showing Paige two different pictures on my phone of something I was considering. I could tell she combined the two photos in her head before cutting my hair, and she only saw the photos for a couple seconds! Every haircut includes a wash, hot towel around your neck, scalp massage, hand/arm massage, and a neck and shoulder massage. You can opt out of anything, but I enjoyed the relaxation of it all. Also, the pricing is very competitive with other salons in the area, if not cheaper. After cutting, drying, and layering my hair she offered to straighten or curl my hair. She never seemed in a rush and made me feel great. I just wish she would have told me which products she was using in my hair, during the hand massage, and for the neck massage. She even sprayed something in my hair before drying it so now I'm curious what all she used and what they did. But I guess I could have asked. Over time she has become in-tune with my style but can always add a little twist I don't expect that makes my hair better than I could have imagined. My color was great, but my haircut for my short hair was $61 dollars and that is WITH a color service. That is honestly just way too high in general, let alone with another service. They were nice and everything looked great at the end, but I have to wait over 25 min to get seated in my chair and the person who was doing my hair couldn't even wash the color out and shampoo me on time because he went to go get coffee. It just seemed silly that I was paying extra for a nice stylist and he couldn't even wash out my own hair because of something else he has to do. Been so many places to get my hair done but I don't think I'll be back to this one. Overall great place and results but I feel like my experience with customer service was not worth what I payed for a day at a salon. read more

I've been coming to Pure Concept salon for the past year, and I really can't say enough good things about it. The salon is really modern and stylish, yet very welcoming. The staff is super friendly and professional. I've been getting my hair cut and highlighted by Erin. She's always very thorough and makes sure that we are on the same page with my color choices. She's very sweet but not pushy. The star of this salon is the shampooing. I'm a sucker for a good scalp massage, and you get a 20 minute scalp, neck, and hand massage while reclined with hot towels around your face- heavenly. I'd come just for that. The review I wish I had read before I went to get my hair done. I have recently relocated from out of state and was scared to death to find someone to do my hair. I had put it off for 2 months and could wait no longer. I've always loved and used Aveda hair products so my thought was I couldn't go wrong with an Aveda salon. I called to make my appointment and found whomever I spoke with at the desk to be a bit unfriendly and seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. I requested a brow and lip wax which never happened when I made my appointment, but I did not receive those services. The day before my appointment I was called and asked if I could move it back 15 minutes, which was fine but again the call felt rushed and unfriendly. I arrived at my appointment early as always and waited patiently. My appointment was at 1:15 and I had another appointment at 6:30 same evening. Which in my experience left me plenty of time to have my hair done and make it to my next appointment. I met my stylist, Sara, from the beginning I could tell she felt uncomfortable and overwhelms by my hair. Mind you my hair is a little thick but it straight and blonde, there is nothing too complicated about it. She proceeded to ask what I wanted to have done and I explained I needed to be brightened up. I explained that my previous stylist had always used foil highlights. I even showed her pictures of how I wanted my hair to look. She kept asking me questions which made me more and more uncomfortable. I'm not a hairstylist I have no idea about the mechanism of coloring hair. She then went and got hair color swatches and started holding it up to my hair which made me even more uncomfortable. The next thing I know she goes over to a co-worker, who I believe is one of the owners and starts talking to her about what should do with my hair. Which I could plainly hear and freaked me out even more. At this point, I thought about leaving, but I didn't want to be rude and I wanted to give her a chance. This all took about 20 mins, she then mixed her color and started foiling. 4 and a 1/2 hours later she was done foiling my hair, with some assistance from a colleague. I mentioned to her I needed to leave around 6 to make my 6:30 appointment which seemed to put her over the edge in terms of being stressed out. She washed me out and brought me back to my chair and I immediately knew my hair was going to be orange. Because of how long it took her to foil my hair there was no time for a cut, and she even had to ask a co-worker to help dry my hair. When they were done drying it, it was orange. She kept mentioning to me that she knew I wasn't going to like it but since I had to leave that I would need to rebook an appointment to come back for her to fix it as well as cut it. It felt like somehow the fact it took her 4 1/2 hours to foil my hair was now my fault. I should mention that when I checked it as a new client I was asked to complete a short form with information about myself, on that form it asked if I would like to be contacted after my appointment, I indicated I would like to be contacted. I was really hoping someone would reach out so I could explain my disappointment and see what we could do about fixing it without hurting anyone's feelings. It is now over a week later and I have yet to receive any form of communication. I reached out to another local salon and explain to them what had happened with my hair. I could not have had a more different experience. The woman who answered the phone took time to talk to me about what happened, what I was looking to have fixed what level of experience stylist I want to be placed with. I was able to get in that day and have my hair fixed. I have found a new salon here in town that values me as a customer and was able to address all of my concerns within a 2 and a 1/2 hour window. They now have a customer for life. I really wish things had been different with pure concepts because I do love Aveda so much. But the lack of interests in booking my appointment, to realize I needed someone with a higher level of skill and confidence, as well as a stylist who did not know how to do my hair, set me and Sara up for an orange fail. I hope this experience has helped her become a better stylist. read more

Still new to the area, so I did some research on hair salons and finally settled on Pure Concepts. The price is much more than I am used to, but it's comparable to other salons around the area. They were able to fit me in on the day I called. Since I am new, they assigned me to Erin. She was friendly and discussed with me before starting. I am not super picky about my hair and I think my hair is easy to manage, so I really wanted nothing more than chopping 8 inches off to get ready for the hotter weather. She did a fine job and I was serviced pretty quickly. I was most surprised by the hand and arm massage that came during the hair washing step. I didn't expect it at all, while I appreciated it, I didn't like the fact that my hands was all oily from the lotion. I also distinctively remember that I checked off the box that allow them to follow up with me in a few days to see how I like my haircut, but I never got a call from them. I have been going to Pure Concepts for over five years. Sara is my hairdresser. She is one of the best hairdresser's that I have ever worked with. My 16 and 14 year old daughters are also clients of Sara and love her. I have thick curly longhair and many hairdressers that I have gone to in the past get overwhelmed by my hair. One time I was charged extra because my hair was "too thick" at a previous salon. No one can style my hair like Sara does. It always looks perfect. I go every month for hair color/touch up and cut. Furthermore, I really enjoy the complimentary services they provide. These include hand and neck message with aromatherapy. We also get lipstick application at the end. The staff is so very courteous, accommodating and friendly. My schedule can sometimes be very tight and they always work hard to get me in.
