I moved to Brownsburg about a year ago and have had the toughest time finding a new salon. I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment at Em Studio Salon and I'm so glad I did! Let me start off by saying Stacy and Kaylee are amazing!! I came in for a simple trim and was given what felt like a full spa treatment. Their shampoo space is so relaxing. It's a dim room with spa music playing and it was such a relaxing experience! You even get a head/neck massage with your shampoo/conditioner. I didn't want to cut my hair too short (even though it probably needed it haha), but Stacy was so respectful of that and she kept the length of my hair, all while making it healthy & giving it some texture! My mother-in-law and daughter had a date today and went in for cuts and color. They had the most wonderful time! My daughter is six years old and has never had her hair colored before. My mother-in-law is from out of town and thought this would be a nice treat for them. It surely was. They were taken care of the entire time and made to feel relaxed and pampered. This is a super cute salon located in Brownsburg, IN. I just recently started going here but I really enjoy it. The salon has a cute little shop front where you can buy candles and soaps and stuff, kinda like a bath and body but fancier. And then theres the little waiting room area to sit and wait. So Sam my stylist just does a great job. We figure out what we want to do with my hair which usually isnt much and then we got back to the shampoo area. We shampoo up and then for $5 more you can have a longer head massage which I totally reccomend. And then head back up to the chair to do the cut, and dried up. This is a no tip salon which was different from what I was used to. For my cut it is only $35 bucks, for my cut and color was only $120 I believe. For me this is a lot closer to where I live versus driving all the way up to Carmel, in. Definately reccomend if you live close and want a good affordable cut and color. read more

PROS: + The stylists and the staff are super friendly + The stylists are excellent at what they do + The stylists don't try to shove their products down your throat like some places I've been to + the atmosphere of this place is very chic and cute + the haircuts are excellent, the color services are superb - not streaky or stripey like some places CONS: - very, very, very expensive (but the stylists do not accept tips) - some stylists don't really listen to exactly what you want. Both me and a few friends / family who have been here agree on this! - regardless of hair type, all stylists try to style it the same way, which can be frustrating for people with thick, course, hair or naturally curly hair - although they do an excellent job, it does take FOREVER when you're here - never have any promotions or good deals to get the best bang for your buck. Overall, if you're willing to pay the price and trust the stylist with your hair, you'd love this place! If however, you like a little more say so in your hair, and don't feel like dropping $200 on it, I'd recommend finding a different salon. read more

I gave the salon another chance and so disappointed. I have worked hard to get my hair blonde, it's a process that took me months. I told the beautician to not darken my roots to cover my grey. I said I prefer a high lift on my roots which blends in with the blonde. The beautician never said she was going to not honor my request or that it could not be done. I knew she was going in with some low lights. what I am left with is so upsetting. I don't know what to do, I hate it! I wish I never had gone in there let alone paid 200 dollars. How Can I get rid of these dark roots and brown hair? Should I try a high lift though it works on natural hair not colored, color oops, or bleach around my face where it bothers me the most, and it's always going to have the mark where the dark brown color was added. I don't recommend this place because this was the second experience I had here where what I came in asking for was completely ignored. read more

I honestly wanted to give a better review, because my hairdresser was very nice and she took a lot of time and effort to help me. However, it was pricey. I don't get my haircut often so I was willing to pay more for a good cut and color. But the price was NOT even close to worth what I got out of it. The truth is I hate my haircut so much! I have curly hair and she used a hair thinning tool before I could even catch what she was doing. All my curls are hacked up and frizzy now! And the under layer she cut SO short my hair looks SO bad in a pony tail. It's long on the sides of the pony tail and short in the middle. We bought over $200 worth of suggested products and they are ok at best... The oi moisturizer/ oil smells horrific. Once it was in my hair I had to smell it all day. And it did NOTHING for my hair. The curly hair products are ok... the shampoo and conditioner for colored hair are very very average for how expensive they are. They SWORE by the Oi oil and it is OK at best... I really only use it when I straighten my hair. I expressed how I have dandruff and she said it's product build up and to just use that shampoo and conditioner. It is soo much worse! At first she tried to sell me products for moisture until I reminded her I needed a color protection shampoo like she'd suggested hours before. We spent over $400 and I could just cry. I'm sure they do ok with other hair, but they messed my curls up terribly. My hair looks good straightened. But I can't wear it naturally. Very sad. read more

She listens to what you want, doesn't talk to you about anything you don't want to talk about, and is sweet as she can be! Everyone there is fun, polite, professional, and you know your getting a high-end experience. I started going to this salon a few months back. It is a good experience. My stylist is newer and has done a good job. I won't say it is the best haircut and color ever but it is good. Much of this is on me to articulate specific shade and tones on color. The rates are very reasonable. The salon is nice, welcoming and staff are very helpful. The notification system to make sure I remember an appointment is awesome The products sold are really good and the stylist is well educated about products recommended. Big deal is they don't accept tips - instead they encourage referrals. I think they have been in business several years and have a robust clientele. Yesterday Alex bravely cut my 18 month old son's hair. I say bravely because my kid thought she was trying to KILL him. But through some gummy snacks and some force of will, we did it. And it is cuuuuuuuute! Have you ever tried to cut an angry honey badger's hair? Because she has and she did a fantastic job. It's evenly cut, adorable, and stylish. I honestly don't know how she did it. And THEN - and then. She did a beautiful and fun dye job on my other littlest. She was in for mermaid hair and mermaid hair she got. The salon itself is great. I have spent a TON of money here without any issues. I had a box color in my hair, red that my stylist who was AWESOME was working with as she told me it would be a process to get it out to add the more softer tones of carmel to my hair. Which was fine in February I spent over $200 for a Balayage that I didnt like not because of the stylist because I dont like my hair dark on top and I have very curly hair, the colors were beautiful then went back in March and we ended up doing highlights on top to help with the darkness AGAIN turned out great she knew just what I wanted and I AM the customer who is paying. I went in on 6-1 for cut and touch up and was told I didnt have an appointment it would be 7/1/21, which I went every 6 weeks or so to keep up with the cut and that would have put me out 12 weeks. There was a stylist there that had a client no show and was able to get me in and said she would speak to the girl that does my hair as she was there that day and could refer to the card where she documents the color she uses. I am not sure what she did, I walked out with a great haircut BUT I was completely a WHOLE lighter shade of blonde on top and I have dark hair. It looked so clumpy like someone threw pain on top of my head and in some areas I was even told it looked like a shade of Green. I felt so bad and the salon was so busy I called the very next day when they opened and spoke to the front desk manager who took my information and communicated it with my stylist and Elisha the co-owner. I got a call back that day 6-2, and was told to come in the next day that Elisha would be taking care of me. She agreed the color looked awful and put a few foils on top of my head I mean a few and put toner on the rest of my hair. I was very specific that I wanted my hair as close to it was when I walked in to the salon on 6-1 as I have spent over $400 getting it there I showed her pics that she already had that I emailed to her of what my hair looked like and was very specific that that I didnt want it dark to come as close as she could to what I had. When it was all said and done, Elisha asked how I liked it, I cried I was so frustrated after all the money and time wasted to walk out AGAIN with something I didnt want and had been working on and paid alot of money for. Her response was you can call next week I need to talk to your stylist. I went home so upset I called back up there and asked to speak to Elisha who called me back and I told her I wasnt happy how were they going to fix this as I havent ever had an issue like this and was going on vacation. I was in shock to see how an owner of a business spoke to her paying client. I never once yelled screamed I just didnt like what she had did and it seemed like she took it personal and told me that I was the worst and most difficult client she had ever worked with in her 20+ years and that I dont know what I want as I repeated myself so many times and that I was no longer allowed in the salon and hung up. I never got a chance to say a word. I called back up there asking for all my money to be returned as I had spent alot of money getting to where my hair was to be back to this basic dark color that I had to start over. So if I repeated myself its because its my hair I left there already once with my hair looking awful and had to go to work and Elisha had never styled my hair she did the least she could do and didnt listen to what I wanted she seen the before pics she did what she wanted to get me out of there. I am appalled and humiliated at how she treated me as I had been going there for my hair and eyebrows. I am in shock that I was treated the way I did by the owner the things she said were WRONG and it shows she didnt care she wanted me in and out of there. My hair looked stringy after she did it and when its dry you can hardly tell I have any color at all in it. I spent way to much money to be starting over. I sent them an email with this exact same information to both Elisha and the other owner so they both know how they made another woman feel. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone beware I would never speak to Elisha the way she spoke to me she doesnt care she cares about making money and that is all she said how nice of a person she was and hung up. Ridiculous. Elisha should feel ashamed of how she spoke to me and what happened she should feel bad she seen what the other stylist did to my dark hair it looked AWFUL. read more

I had to find a new stylist when I moved to Brownsburg. After spending a lot of money and time at places that were either so-so or downright terrible, I made an appointment at em Studio Salon. I was super impressed by everyone working there - this is a friendly and professional staff. I have gotten great service from both Sasha and Kylie. This is a no-tipping salon, which I was not used to, but they ask you to refer your friends and family. My only complaint is that it can be difficult booking an appointment because they fill up so quickly. It can sometimes be a month or more before I can get in, but that does not stop me from coming back. read more

The mark of a GREAT stylist is when you leave the salon and DON'T have to go home and re-style your hair. I left with my hair styled better than what I would be able to do on an average day, yes, but didn't want to restyle it. Sasha did a wonderful job. Let me start from the beginning. The ambiance of the salon is great. Chic but not too girly, plenty of product, including nail and male hair product, and local designed jewelry. LOVE IT! Sasha greeted me and shook my hand. Very warm greeting. I sat down at her chair and she went over what I wanted out of my visit. She told me exactly what she was going to do, and what solutions she could provide as far as volumizing and helping with my bangs and length. We went to wash my hair called the "wash house". The lights were dim and the feeling was very relaxing. I even got a head massage when she was conditioning. I almost fell asleep! It was AWESOME! Sasha was energetic and pleasant during the entire hair cut, keeping the conversation up the entire time. We talked about work, my wedding, hair, etc. The conversation never lulled! It was a great match. After we were done, she showed me the products, but there wasn't any pressure to buy, and she helped me schedule my next appointment. OH! Hello. On my last visit, I was asked to pay $155.00 by Elisha to lowlight a few strands of my bangs, just a couple of foils at the most. A very small area on the crown of my head. I part my hair in the middle, I am trying to describe an area less than 1/2 inch deep and wide in the very front of my face where it cannot be missed when looking at me. I simply wanted her to add color back to restore my natural color on those strands to the bleached strands that are stubbornly yellow than the rest of my hair and do not blend with my natural grey even after I paid to have a toner to reduce the yellow with no change. I was shocked, to say the least at the amount that she was asking for especially since I had paid to try and get it fixed with the toner with no result. When I respectfully questioned why I was being excessively overcharged she became unreasonable and told me to leave and said quote, " you have caused us problems and we can't have you here anymore." Shocked and disappointed in Elisha's unprofessional behavior, I left. I thought that I was a great client spending money for "master-level" services, which honestly, I never received. I kept thinking that grey-blending was going to get to a stable and consistent color and style and it never did. Evidently, I was going to be a work-in-progress indefinitely. I have spent a lot of money on services and haircare products at EM Studio trying to get my hair to a consistent color and style since last summer to no avail. I have been very patient and kind when dealing with Elisha's lack of caring to be consistent. Honestly, during my last appointment with her, I sat in that salon from 5-5:30ish p.m. to nearly 9:00 p.m. to get a partial highlight touch-up and a quick trim (not even a professional haircut) spending $250.00 for the services alone and another $100.00 on products. I hate to bring this to light, but Elisha left shampoo in my hair and didn't even bother to take care enough to thoroughly rinse my hair before blow-drying. I didn't bring it to her attention because I wanted to help her save face. After that sloppy treatment, I requested to have Nicole from that time on as she was the first person to successfully cut and color my hair with a good result. Beware, they charge an extra $50.00 to have an intern (who is unfamiliar with the products) blow-dry your hair after color services. How is this okay? Why do they not care enough to check their work and color to make sure that it is correct? Did this just happen to me, or does this happen with regularity? A few years ago I moved to the west side and realized I had no idea where to get my hair cut. I finally had a steady full time job so I was ready to find a nice salon to make my go to place for a haircut. I didn't have a ton of girl friends that lived near me so I didn't know who to ask for a recommendation. I stumbled upon E M through an internet search and decided to give them a shot, I am so glad I did! The place is very nice inside and everyone has always been very friendly. I have never had problems getting an appointment at a time that works for me despite my sometimes strange schedule. The price is very fair as well! I have always like what they do with my hair and the massage and shampoo are nice touches. You can tell they want you to be happy when you leave as they do not accept tips but work primarily in encouraging referrals. I have used a couple of different stylists and always left satisfied. Now if only more of my friends moved out near me I would send more people there! Just went here again recently and it was another great experience. Bri is awesome. I moved the Brownsburg a dozen years ago and never found a salon I liked until I finally tried EM Salon. The staff are friendly and greet you as soon as you come in the door. They also have some unique gifts and I've purchased a few over the past couple years. I've always had Sasha as my stylist and she does a great job. She listens to what you want and offers input. I appreciate her expertise and always leave happy with the result. The reason I didn't give the salon 5 stars - last week I had a last minute event so called and was unable to find time with Sasha. They did have an opening with someone else. For the first time I didn't come away happy. This person never checked my color before finishing me up. You can hardly see that anything was done. She did offer to redo it, but I didn't have time to get it redone before the party. Anyway, I am pretty disappointed,especially because I spent $130. I do take part of the responsibility and from now on I will insist they check the color rather than just depend on the timer. As for Sasha and the salon - da bomb! read more
