I'd been in to pick up a few products before, but finally booked a facial last week. I called ahead to book my appointment. I wanted them to assess what my skin needed, so I gave them my budget and told them to do whatever they thought was best in that price range. My esthetician, Rose, was amazing and did a great job clearly explaining what she was doing. She answered all of my questions in a helpful way and I learned that she has 14+ years of experience. She said that this is her favorite place she's worked because everyone here is passionate about skin and they get all of the new gadgets. She hydrated my skin, did a mini chemical peel (one with no downtime), microbladed my face (gets rid of all dead skin/hair/helps you be glowy), and did laser genesis to stimulate collagen and kill bacteria (potential acne). My face was super glowy after and my skin felt tight the following day. The products that she used were top of the line (IS Clinical, Babor, etc), so the price of the facial truly is worth the quality of product that they're giving you. She has one facial studio and one microblading studio - both next to each other. She uses Skinceutical products (which if you're not familiar, are highly-recommended and effective products). I've heard the brand mentioned multiple times from all the celebrity estheticians I follow on Instagram and had been wanting to try them. Julie kept my facial simple by washing it, doing extractions, using a steam machine, using this awesome light tool that zaps bacteria on your face, this awesome gel moisturizer that she said would hydrate my skin much better than my current moisturizer, retinol she had recommended for me (it was an evening appointment so she got my face "ready for bed" - yay!), and more. She also sent me home with a few Skinceutical samples that I'm excited to try. Super excited to go back and use the new products she's recommended for me. If you've never gotten a facial before, I HIGHLY recommend going at least once, because the products you might be using in your daily life could be worsening your skin without you realizing it. Dr. Shipchandler completely botched my facial paralysis Botox. I had brain surgery for a facial…read morenerve tumor removed by Dr. Jennifer Kim at U of M three and a half years ago and had been seeing her for facial nerve Botox ever since. Botox was used every 3-4 months to weaken the dominant side of my face so it didn't pull so strongly on the paralyzed side and to help with synkinesis. I just moved to Indiana and was referred to Dr. Shipchandler. BIG MISTAKE. A week and a half after he painfully administered Botox (I had black bruises at the injection sites, which I've never had before) the dominate side is now so paralyzed it's weaker than my paralyzed side. Completely botched. It's bad enough I'll look like this for my sister's wedding this week, but even worse than I'll be disfigured for the next 3-5 months! And his only answer was "sometimes Botox settles like this in the face and I'll have to wait 3-5 months for it to correct itself." Respectfully, bullshit. I've been seeing Dr. Kim for 3.5 years and never had a reaction like this. And no apology from him. I will NEVER be returning and strongly urge anyone else to make the 5-hour drive North to Dr. Kim. And I asked for a refund for the $300 visit and no response. Note: the weak side in the photo is usually my strong side, and the strong side in the photo is my paralysis side.
