Has to be one of the best kept secrets in Natchitoches with food is amazing the quantity of food is unreal the pricing is super reasonable and the service is second to none , we just happened upon this place but we will be back very often !!!

We were here 3 months ago it was absolutely excellent. Great service. In fact we hope to stop for lunch today again. We are having the Enchiladas special for lunch.

Probably the most subtastic Mexican restaurant I've been to in a while. While their menu was fairly extensive, the prices seemed to be about 15% higher than what I'm used to for this type of restaurant. That would be ok if the food was better than average. First, I wasn't impressed with their salsa. It was very soupy with very little spice. I overlooked it because I was excited to try the Chorizo tacos. First, there was only one single corn tortilla on each taco. Typically, there are two. The Chorizo was very greasy and it soaked through the tortilla. There was no onion or cilantro, again is what I was expecting. I have definitely had much better than this place. I left unimpressed and disappointed. Lastly, not sure why you name a Mexican restaurant, "Nicky's". Not very Mexican to me.

    Happy plate with three meats.

We stopped here as we were traveling home from Texas. We got off the interstate in hopes of finding something that wasn't fast food. When we saw the sign for Nicky's, we figured we'd give it a try. We were pleased with our choice! My older son got the happy plate with three meats and enjoyed it. My husband got the combination plate. He said the tamale wasn't outstanding, but the rest was quite tasty. My younger son and I got the quesadilla al carbon, his with chicken, mine with steak. Delicious! The tortilla was crispy, the meat well seasoned, and a half order is plenty unless you have a huge appetite. Also, we got a large queso to start - it was a HUGE bowl of queso. We were quite pleased with our meal. A bit more expensive than fast food, but a whole lot better. We'll stop in again when we're traveling!

Food was awesome! I got the carne asada, despite being overcooked the flavor of everything was on point. Definitely worth a stop.

Natchitoches, LA was the next town coming up and I started checking Yelp reviews in the area. El Patio, which had solid reviews, looked like an easy off and on from the Interstate plus there was a gas station in close proximity. It was perfect place for us to stop, stretch our legs and get a bite to eat. When we walked in the decor of the restaurant was a feast for the eyes. The chairs and tables were painted with bright colors and designs. It looks like Fiesta Time all the time. Victor, our server greeted us and took our drink orders. No margaritas, but a big glass of unsweetened iced tea was in order. A hot basket of chips and a small carafe of salsa was dropped off at our table. The salsa was good, but too mild for our tastes. The tortilla chips were very good. I decided on the #1 Lunch Special which included a Chille Relleno and a crispy beef taco. Both platters were accompanied with refried beans and rice. Wow, what a quick turnaround from the kitchen! Victor was back in a flash with our lunch entrees. Both of our lunch entrees were very enjoyable and spiced nicely. We both had happy tummies by the time we left El Patio and headed towards New Orleans. Next time we're in the area, we'll make a point of stopping in and try something new on the menu.

We got a basic taco salad and sopapillas order, with chips and salsa Togo. Got to the vehicle and checked the order. Salad looks good. Chips and salsa; a small helping, but they look good. Then we open up the sopapillas. There's the three sopapillas but then added items that weren't on the menu; assumed chocolate sauce, sprinkles and whipped cream. The menu says a tortilla that's deep fried topped with honey, butter and cinnamon. So it should be that simple. But with a dye allergy and staying away from certain things it was a bad surprise. So I went back in and asked/complained and told to wait for the manager or chef not sure who he was to get off his cell phone call. He came over and said that's how it comes. If I said to put the items on the side then they would've done that but since I didn't ask it was pointed as my fault. Then I asked if they can fix it and they said no. I left mad. My husband went back in. They talked it over, same guy that helped me; finally agreed they will fix it this one time but next time we need to ask. ( How do you ask about extra ingredients that aren't even on the menu? ) The food was decent eating it. We 100% would've been back for a dinner party in a couple weeks if their service was better. But we're going to take our time and money elsewhere, especially becauseof food allergies. I hope their attitudes get better in the future and they learn their menu instead of making the PAYING customer mad. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. So to end this review. I am sure there is better places to eat. Go to them. Go somewhere where they care you are spending your money, even if it's just for a $5 item or making it yourself and don't treat you like they are doing you the favor. Eating out is a treat not a must.

Upon being seated, guests are presented with a simple yet genuinely authentic menu. The flavors remain consistently exceptional, a quality I believe is essential for any restaurant hoping to thrive in Alexandria. Caro's is far from the typical, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant where meals are hastily assembled from a hot line and served with an inflated price tag. Instead, each dish reflects care, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Complementing the cuisine, the staff and atmosphere provide an added layer of warmth and charm. The establishment also features a small shop offering imported goods, further enhancing the overall experience. I strive for honesty and objectivity in my reviews, and I rarely award a full five stars. However, Caro's is an exception. This assessment is not based on a handful of visits but on years of consistently outstanding dining experiences. If I were to choose a single word to describe Caro's, it would be authentic. This restaurant exemplifies what true, heartfelt Mexican cuisine should be.
