We visit Nick's every time we are in town and we are lucky enough to get Linda as our waitress every single time. She is awesome and is on it. Plus, the food here is fantastic. This past visit, we ordered the following: ** Grilled Jumbo Shrimp Appetizer with arrabiata sauce - My daughter loved this and could've polished off the entire plate if we let her. It was split with her and another family member and they really enjoyed. Both preferred the shrimp as is and didn't dip it into the arrabiata sauce. I'm pretty sure we'll be ordering this for her from now one. This appetizer came with 4-5 shrimps so for $13, pretty pricey but at least it was a big hit. ** Caesar Salad - Their dressing is made in house and makes this salad stand out from your typical Caesar salads. We really enjoy it and always split the salad with the table. As a side note, I like that their croutons are on the smaller side and not the size of large sugar cubes. Makes eating the salad a bit easier. ** Chicken Fettuccini - This is always my-go Italian comfort meal. The noodles are so yummy, I'm sure they are made fresh daily. I think I've gotten this in the 4 or 5 times we've been here. It's that good. I always sprinkle red pepper flakes heavily over my pasta. Its not because it's lacking flavor, I just add a lot to every Italian dish I eat. This dish never disappoints. ** Capellini Primavera - My husband ordered this. It's angel hair pasta with broccoli, carrots, garlic tossed together in white wine sauce. They are very generous with their veggies which is very much appreciated by the hubby. This is also his favorite dish here. ** Cheese Ravioli - A family member ordered this with meat sauce but got it with a cream sauce by mistake. The gentleman who brought the food out brought out a side of meat sauce rather than remaking it but it ended up working out ok. He actually loves their meat sauce but said the dish was still pretty good. It may be more opened minded of this meatless option in the future. Adult beverages: Hubby had 2 glasses of their house cab and loved it. He doesn't often have two servings but enjoyed his first glass so much, ordered another. I had two vodka tonics and Uncle had two gin & tonics - both made very well. 2nd drink had a heavier pour but we didn't mind. ** Tiramisu - Delicious as always and our dinner is never complete here without this dessert at the table at the end of the night. We all a ordered cappuccino to enjoy with our dessert. Each cappuccino came with a small biscotti which was nice. I don't typically put sugar in the raw in my coffee but I think I would've enjoyed my cappuccino more if I had a bit of it. Thank you Nick's for being a trusted staple when we are out visiting family in the area. We always enjoy our visit with Linda....See you next time we're in town. = ). OH! As soon as we walked in we saw that they had an award displayed "Best Italian in Scottsdale of 2003". After eating here it is apparent why they haven't won another award in over 20 years. I ordered a margarita pizza which was cheesier than I expected. The entrees came out literally 5 minutes later. I had not even finished my second bite of the pizza before the entrees came out. I thought it was strange but now in retrospect maybe they were rushing us out. I had ordered the special, sea bass which came out in a lemon sauce. It was mediocre at best. The sea bass was not fresh, it looked like frozen fish and they had the nerve to charge me $45 for this dish. My boyfriend ordered the eggplant parmigiana which was in his words reminded him of baby food. The eggplant was soggy and mushy. September Had dinner there Friday night. Service was friendly and welcoming Upon seating water was quickly supplied along with bread. The bread was sad. There were a mixture of rolls. To much garlic on the small knots and all the bread was soft. I would have liked to have had some of the bread with a nice crust Chicken cacciatore was generous in portion size. The chicken was tender and the flavour excellent The chicken piccata was exceptionally tasty. The lemon sauce was just right. The steamed vegetables were fresh and not soggy. Living in North Scottsdale there is a distinct lack of good pizza places so on a recommendation of a stranger we ordered here The chicken BBQ was pretty good. The rest of the family loved the pizza crust. I found the sauce a little overwhelming The size was incredible and much larger than I expected We also ordered the nicks montebello. Having eaten at the Pinnacle Peak location since they opened, their food has always been wonderful. The other night something wasn't perfect so, because that was so out of the ordinary, I emailed the restaurant. I was contacted immediately and after telling the manager of my experience, he thanked me for taking the time to let him know personally. I believe in giving feedback whether good or bad. Nick's gave us our cheat day during 'quarantine' this past week and it was awesome ! Of course the ONLY thing we could think that would make it better is by having the true dining in experience that we are craving so much now after weeks of this COVID_19 lockdown! One can only imagine how great Nick's will make that when we are all able to safely wine and dine and be out ! IF it's any indication by what we experienced by picking up curbside this weekend we know it'll be amazing ! My husband and I happened to initially be leaving AJ's next door and saw the door to Nick's open; We remembered an Uber driver ( prior to this COVID_19 craziness!) telling us of Nick's back in January; so we stopped excitedly and grabbed a paper menu. A few days later we opted for this as our 'cheat day'. We called in for a : Seafood Ravioli , ( handmade ; rich and tasty & full of seafood !) ; a Calzone with pepperoni ; black olive and mushroom , ( crisp crust , NOT soggy ; lots of mozzarella and ricotta and great for two meals!) ; and a medium Margherita Pizza , ( This pizza was HUGE! and oh so good !). We also ordered a Caesar and Greek Salad to share and desserts to also share , after all- CHEAT DAY is once a week! The cannolis are home made ; rich and yummy! My favorite and hard to find, BUT ALL GREAT Italian places should have , IF you ask me: Spumoni Gelato! I was disappointed that the paper menu we picked up did have Tartufo listed and when we called to order we were told it wasn't available during this time. I also think Nick's website would have served itself better during this crazy time by listing it's being open and a up to date menu , as well. The pick up was friendly ; on point with the order ; and safe with social distancing: as in ONE person allowed in lobby at a time during pick up. Take note. I've been dining at Nick's for roughly seven years and I believe it is the best Italian in North Scottsdale. The Pinnacle Peak location is better than the one on FLW - it's just a little quieter and more relaxed crowd with fewer kids and better service. I'm pretty picky about my Italian, but I wholeheartedly recommend Nick's veal picatta and the caesar salad. Also, their table bread is wonderful. Will be back for many years to come! read more

Went to Nicks to celebrate my sons 18th birthday with his grandma and me, we're from out of town. My mom frequents Nicks. After this visit she will not be returning. First off, menu pricing online is very outdated, items are double in price from what's listed on the online menus. My son ordered fettuccini Alfredo with chicken, I got chicken Marsala, my mom chicken parm. My mom and mine "come with choice of veg or pasta". Food came, my son was eating and then I saw him quietly looking at his plate. There was hair in his pasta. When we told the server, she said I need to see exactly where it is or they won't let me bring you another one. Are you kidding me???? These meals are $30 a plate! She comes back and says, it was dog hair, so it wasn't anyone in the kitchens hair. I said well we have no pets. She said I'll bring another. We let her know it was my sons birthday. Brings tiramisu. Bill comes and there are upcharges on everything!!! When we asked the server stated, that's new as of a week ago, Nick said since the price of dairy has gone up, we need to charge more. If this place considers itself upscale, you need to let customers know! Food is mediocre and certainly not worth these prices or hair in the food, then being interrogated on the location of the hair. My mom and my meal was ruined talking about types of hair by server, then she had the audacity to say, some people can't finish their meal after seeing hair. Like insinuating was my son still going to eat if she brings a new one. Lots of great places to eat in North Scottsdale, pass on this place! And as a side note, classy upscale restaurants give a dessert when it's your birthday. Ours was $10. Not worth it! Called and spoke to manager Amy. I've been really wanting to try Nick's for sometime. Being new in town, I was planning on sitting at the bar alone like I usually do but it was full. I was seated at a high top for 15 mins and besides someone who was not a server dropping off a glass of water, I sat for over 15 minutes without so much as being acknowledged as several employees walked past me several times. It wasn't until I stood up to awkwardly leave that I was asked "can I help you?". I felt bad sitting at a high top since it was just myself but the hostesses insisted since they "weren't that busy tonight". I've worked in the industry before- it's not hard to just acknowledge someone exists. I had big order dinner to go for 10 people, the food was ready on time. The girl that I talked to on the phone was very helpful. Everyone enjoyed their food except me. If I could give less than zero I would. Avoid this place Bad service and when questioned they said the take out was busy. For years my husband made me ignore this place, he now says he doesn't understand why. My kids LOVE IT. The food is good, they don't have a kids menu but my kids always split the spaghetti and meatballs. I had one of the specials, the cannelloni and it reminded me of my dad's meals. Got take out from here with my family a couple weeks ago, it was pretty good! I ordered eggplant Parmesan and it was tasty. My dad and sister split a pizza and asked for no cheese on one half and they got quite a bit cheese on the no cheese half, so that part wasn't great. I understand some melts over, but there was sort of a lot. My mom was happy to see gluten free options and got a pizza she enjoyed. I think my favorite part was the bread. Just had a pretty solid meal here at Nick's. It was our first time here, but definitely won't be our last. We were promptly greeted with waters and a basket of assorted bread. The bread was pretty yummy, but...would have been superb had it been warmed up! It not being warm certainly didn't stop us from devouring it. For my meal I opted for the Carbonara and my hubby decided on the Creamy Pesto Penne. He also ordered a side of meatballs topped with Marinara. Our food came out so fast, I actually thought it was a mistake at first. To be honest, I was actually a little put off by how fast it came out (we are talking probably 5 minutes tops from the time we ordered to the time it hit the table). But, it was hot, fresh and delicious, so I quickly changed my tune! The Carbonara was good but my husband's Pesto was fantastic. He thought the Pesto was good, and my Carbonara fantastic so...we swapped! Neither one of is was able to clean our plates, the pastas were very filling. Love the food but upon pickup, food was delayed beyond the 45 minute time I was quoted (got it at 80 minutes), no physical distancing in the restaurant to wait, and they weren't requiring people to wear masks to go into the restaurant for dine-in service. Disappointing as this has been one of my favorite places to get eggplant parm for years. Won't be back until they start to follow fining rules for COVID safety. read more

We just moved to the area, and visited Nick's on a whim. The food was really good! I ordered the eggplant Parmesan (with no cheese) and the marinara was the best I've ever had. The eggplant was super thin and crispy... yum!! They also had a great veggie selection, and bring out a variety of delicious bread as an appetizer. It was a bit fancier than I expected based on the exterior so I was a bit underdressed (in my baseball cap and casual clothes after spending a day at home cleaning), so don't wear your sweat pants and flip flops. HORRIBLE for takeout!!!! The only bad luck I have had is with this location. I usually never leave reviews but this place has consistently for 4 times since we have ordered take out messed up every single order. Food is always pretty good but the service is absolutely horrifying. The people act entitled and never apologize for their mistakes. One time we were given someone else's order, multiple times we were missing many items, this time they didn't even place the order after confirming twice over the phone. Showed up and said they never received it. It's not like this place is EVER busy either. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Next time, I'll just drive to Frank Lloyd Wright location because at least they have their shit together and the quality is better over there as well. Completely disappointing. read more
