I enjoy Nick's Place fisherman's platter, but that's about it. I ordered a chicken caesar salad and a side of pasta salad last night. The pasta salad had a bunch of mayonnaise smeared onto the top IN ADDITION to the absurd amount already mixed in. There was absolutely no seasoning, just very small pieces of carrot and green pepper. It was tasteless and in the ONE spiral noodle I had mayonnaise explode out of it filling my mouth. How can you even let this leave the restaurant? Who made the executive decision to add more mayo? Seriously, what the heck. I am baffled that anyone thought "yeah, that looks edible!" I'm not sure if it was the salad or the small bite of "pasta salad" I had, but within an hour of eating my stomach was very upset and I ended up waking up in the middle of the night with... undesirable bathroom needs. We love this place. The staff is very friendly and there's always so many people working we never have to wait. There's so much on the menu, sometimes it seems too much that it makes it hard to decide, but options are good. We ordered the steak tip sub, Cajun fries, steamed broccoli, and a chocolate chip cookie. Our sub was excellent! The steak tips were cooked perfectly. The fries were nice and crispy, and not over-seasoned with Cajun. The broccoli was a tad over-cooked, but still tasty. The chocolate chip cookies have nice big pieces of chocolate, and nice and soft. Not a lot of places deliver to East Boston, I was glad to find nicks did. I undoubtably had the best Buffalo chicken sub in a while. They use chicken fingers which is the way to go. Apparently nicks place doesn't give there drivers the delivery fee witch got raised from2 to 3$ because of the increase of gas prices My guess is that it's just another way for big companies to shekel & dime their customers for as much as possible while giving their poorly paid staff the shaft (as usual). If you work for a company that charges delivery fees and then doesn't pass that along to the driver, I'd look into finding a company that does. You have to understand that a place like Nick's is rare. We're spoiled around here with "east coast" food. This place absolutely delivers what it's intended to - delicious, huge portions, comfort food, fast service, hot, with a side of grease! :) It's a classic. Guy Fieri should venture here! I'm from NY and also the San Fran area. This place is just like I remember in NY and something you'll not find anywhere near the west coast (unless there is tofu, wheat grass, sprouts or some other super healthy ingredient!). I've eaten here a few times and it's consistent and the service is very friendly and prompt. The food comes out perfectly and piping hot! We've tried a bunch of things on the menu, including the latest "fried dough" which reminds me of the Jersey Boardwalk or Old Orchard Beach. When I lived in Winthrop, Nick's place was not open. WOW! What an awesomely needed addition to this great little suburban community near the airport! The thing I want to talk about is the delivery service of Nick's. You are gonna be so happy if you stay near the airport for a delay and get food sent to your hotel from Nicks! My food came in the 35 minutes that was quoted and the order was correct. The delivery driver was courteous and ensured that I had all utensils and condiments for my meal. The food arrived warm/hot. The food quality for price is superb! for under $20 we got a spinach pie dinner which comes with two sides of your choosing. I choose a greek salad and rice pilaf. And I ordered a gyro. I also got a 20 oz Coke. Three people could have eaten on this and even with a generous tip, it was less than $20! I want to break down the spinach pie for you. This is no small triangle of feta and frozen spinach. Sorry that I seem shocked about fresh spinach stacked into a a 6x4 inch pie that is at least 3 inches thick on phillo dough! Now the Gyro... PACKED with lamb/beef meat loaded with tzatziki, onions, tomatoes on a seasoned pita. YUM. And the salad... remember it was a side... it was huge! And it had lots of feta, never canned black kalamata olives, and even requested anchovies. These people are not playing!!! We love Nick's Place, really friendly cashiers. My husband loves the roast beef they have. The waffle fries are amazing. we always eat calzones from them they are bomb!!! Nice to dining and nice to takeouts. My orders never arrive cold. Always fresh and hot. And their prices are normal. I really really really really like nicksplace and Winthrop. Let's talk about how clean that place it is. That makes a totally difference, when you dinner in. A lot of employees but they are all very organized and friendly to each other.
