The house dressing is delicious! The steak bomb good but do not order the eggplant sub. They cut the eggplant so thin all you can taste is the breading and it tastes like you're just eating fried breadcrumbs. The only reason I can imagine they'd do this is to save money on eggplant. They should remove this item from their menu if they can't put more than paper thin pieces of eggplant on the sandwich. read more

I ordered takeout from Nicks as it's close to my house. I got a barbour chicken sub but wasn't sure about the feta cheese. It was pretty good, satisfied the craving, and the staff at the pickup was polite. It was convenient to be able to pick it up through a drive thru rather than having to go in. They can't get a simple pizza order right/ correct. It's happened multiple times. You can repeat the order back over the phone, unfortunately there's no middleman to check that the order placed by the cashier that reaches the pizza maker is correct. I miss Nick's Place so much!!!! I moved from MA to Cali in 1998 and what food I miss most other than clam chowder is Nick's chicken kabob Greek salad!!!! The chicken is tender and seasoned to perfection. My mom and I are visiting (she met me from TN at Logan) and the first stop on the way to our air b&b was NICK's! The staff was soooo friendly (Gabriella told us her favs and gave us some local reminder directions, Ali shared with us his love of cooking and family, and Tony (an owner) gave us a bottle of the BEST dressing and a baklava! There are five Nick's Restaurant ringing the Boston area - in Saugus, Winthrop, Revere, W. Newbury, MA and Lawrence. I had never heard of the brand. So when I walked into my first Nick's Restaurant, I noticed three things immediately. a) First of all, the ordering counter is huge- running across the entire front of the store, maybe 40 feet long or so. b) Secondly, above and below the counter are menu boards with what looked like hundreds of different food choices. c) Thirdly, behind the counter, and off to the side by the drive through station, and in the back around the kitchen, I counted eighteen worker bees buzzing around that collaborated to ensure that all of the working parts for a fabulous Nick 's Experience worked to perfection. We were meeting a party of 6 for dinner and had a chance to observe the operation at the front of the restaurant where a steady stream of drive up and pick up customers grabbed their food to go. We sat in the big dining room and the staff gladly rearranged some of the tables and chairs to accommodate our party of 8. The bills were helpfully split into couples and small groups at the suggestion of our server, with none of the exasperated eye rolling I've seen in a lot of places a lot fancier than Nick's. Nick's menu has to be seen to be believed. The major categories are soups, salads, pizzas, gourmet pizza, calzones, sandwiches, club sandwiches, hot subs, cold subs, Omelet Subs, Roast Beef, sliders, specials, dinners, pasta dinners, seafood dinners, seafood rolls, seafood baskets, seafood boxes, kid meals, side orders and desserts. Those major categories combine for a staggering 241 unique items, many of which come in up to 3 sizes. Now that's what I call having a choice! I went with a $5.75 bowl of Greek Lemon Soup. Soup is only offered in the bowl size, but any doubts I had about size or value vanished when the dish came out of the kitchen. It was a huge serving and as good as good can be. A velvety smooth lemon and chicken broth served over a blanket of fluffy rice, it was great. I also ordered a Greek Salad ($7.25) of lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, carrots, Greek olives, cucumbers and Feta. It was great, and unlike some reviewers mentioned, the lettuce was fresh and crisp and not wilted. A full round of pita bread also came with my order, and I wasn't sure if it was included with the soup or the salad, or was on the house, but it was a nice touch and a welcome addition to dinner. So for about thirteen bucks I had a very enjoyable meal in a very enjoyable place. If I lived near one of those 5 Nick's restaurants, chances are pretty high I'd be a willing repeat customer. read more

I just ate a large roast beef sandwich with bbq sauce and cheese on an onion roll. It was amazing. It was big. It was warm, juicy, and flavorful. It was among the best I've ever had anywhere ( and I'm a 60 year old foodie!). I also had a slice of pizza which was terrific. Stopped here for the first time today. My grandson was eyeing the candy/toy machine and the man behind the counter handed him a few quarters. Then he helped him with the machine. He was very nice. Right away I liked this place. I ordered a greek salad with honey barbecue steak tips and a turkey sandwich for my grandson. The portions were very generous. This is a decent place to grab an easy dinner. The portions are significant and the prices are fair. It's what you would expect from an establishment focused on "fast" food. Unfortunately I had a poor experience with an employee whom I suspect is one of the managers. I had placed my order and chosen to use the drive thru window. Upon receiving my food, I noticed I was missing one of the sides I'd ordered. I pulled over to the side and entered the building to request the missing side. Once inside I was greeted with a, "what do you want" by the person whom I suspect to be a manager. I kindly let him know they had failed to include one of my sides in my to-go order. With no apology or even a response, the managers tells me the cost of the side, reaches his hand out for payment, and says nothing further. I wasn't expecting any freebees here, but was thinking there would be some sort of an apology. What bothered me most about this interaction is that I'm trying to support local businesses during a difficult time. We live close to New Hampshire and drive up to Boston once a month to get hair cuts for my two sons. It has become our tradition to stop at Nick's Place to eat afterwards and I have to tell you...THEY GET BETTER AND SWEETER EVERY TIME! The food (especially the honey barbecue steak tips) is absolutely delicious and mouth watering! The service is incredible! The two Albanian ladies that work there are the cutest...always jumping to help with my kids and make sure they have everything they need. The owner always looks out for us and gives my boys treats. I frequently order from Nick's through Grubhub and have been satisfied with the quality of food 90% of the time. Today I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and requested tomatoes slices to be added. The sandwich was a disappointment. It was cold, the cheese was paper thin, tomatoes were hard and the bread was not grilled but toasted. A grilled cheese sandwich in my opinion should be warm, gooey and buttery. I complained to Grubhub customer service in which I was given a $5.00 off coupon on my next order. My family and I stayed at a local AirBnB, wanted to try a local place as we usually do, the meal was very average overall. All four of us found the food very bland. Haddock was dry from being over fried and not seasoned, prime rib sandwich was utterly without seasoning/flavor, undercooked sautéed onions and served on a soggy standard grocery sesame roll (the hot bbq sauce helped a bit), steak fries were actually very good and seasoned, the "homemade" Mac and cheese was cavattapi in an unremarkable cheese sauce... only the pasta on the bottom half of the container had sauce on it, the onion rings were undercooked and limp, the chicken fingers were so over fried (rubbery) even a fork and knife didn't help, it was unappetizing to a teenager, however, the BLT was very well received. At a cost of just under $90, we will not be considering this establishment for any further meals. That said, the delivery person was very polite, courteous and on time. read more
