Nicks is fantastic. I've only received quality workmanship from these guys. They've installed indoor fixtures including cutting holes in my ceiling (last review) as well as installing a series of GFI sockets outdoors so that I could light my exterior just as beautifully as the interior. The GFIs were EXPERTLY designed and they saved me money overall by carefully considering placement and strategy. Nick's guys showed up in the early morning to perform the work; they're great guys and they worked hard (including pruning some bushes so as to have a pathway on which to route electricity). Kyle and Johnny are exceptional! They are professional and get the work done and ensure that the area is cleaned when they are done. We are frequent customers because of these two, especially Kyle! Nick needs to work on the way he speaks to people over the phone, he sounded pissed when speaking to me but spoke better to my husband. Maybe something about speaking to women? I really needed the work done right away and he was able to squeeze me in. I totally appreciated this so much! He gave me a quote over the phone based on the pictures I sent him of the ceiling lamp I needed removed and of the small chandelier I needed installed instead. It was a very reasonable price!! I asked for a price quote for some work to be done. One thing that needed fixing was the dimmer switch in our living room. I was initially given a price of $550, or if they did it that day (while they were already at my home) instead of letting me get other quotes, they would reduce it to $350. Even $350 seemed quite expensive. I decided to go ahead based on the price being $350. This was just for the dimmer switch to be fixed. I decided to not have any other work done, as it wasn't necessary, and I didn't want to spend more than $350 that day. After the work was done, the younger assistant was sent into our house to tell me the price had gone back up to $550 because of extra work that was required. I was never told the price would go back up. $350 was the agreed price. I only wanted to go ahead and use their service based on the total cost being $350. This is undeniable. If extra work was required, I understand that extra work may have been needed, however that's not my fault if any extra work was needed that wasn't realized in the diagnosis before the price of $350 was given. An agreed price is an agreed price. If extra work was required and it was going to cost more than $350, then I should have been told, BEFORE that extra work was done. I had mentioned to the electrician that I don't know anything about electrical systems/parts etc, so I feel that my ignorance when it comes to electrical work may have been taken advantage of, although I can't say for sure. Either way, being asked to pay $550 after being told I would only have to pay $350 is not good business (not to mention seems excessive for an hour of work). I was lucky to get same day service from Nick's Electric. Nick was responsive over the phone and connected me with one of his electricians in the field and Daniel called me within 15 min. of talking with Nick to schedule his consult/quote. Daniel was friendly, professional, and efficient with his time. He communicated the problem (short circuit, mulitiple recessed ceiling lights affected) well and answered any questions I had. I requested a service for lost of electricity in my living room. A technician from Nicks Electrical to evaluate the problem. I was told by the technician I needed a whole new panel of breakers. He replaced the system, but never bothered to ground the panel and charged me $6000 for the work. I was told by two different electricians that the panel needed to be grounded. I had to hire a different electrician to complete the grounding because Nicks Electrical asked me to show them the receipt, which I could not locate. I think that Nicks technicians are crooks and scammers. I wouldn't hire them ever again. People always scam seniors because they think we are rich and don't need our life savings.
