I had the gastric sleeve procedure in March 2018 by Dr. Kilgore, who is no longer with this group. Since the surgery, I have been experiencing severe acid reflux. I went back to the clinic to report my issues and was prescribed a 3 month supply of proton pump inhibitors. I was told by the PA that I could only be on this medication for a short period of time because prolonged use can cause polyps in my stomach. This was in late August. After the pills were exhausted and I continued to have the same acid issues, I started taking Nexium until I could get an appointment with this establishment. I was given an appointment with the namesake of this outfit a few days ago and I now know I will NEVER return to this place and will do everything I can to deter people from patronizing this place. First off, I was charged a $70 copay, up $20 from the August appointment. Supposedly, the Nicholson Clinic is now classified as a medical specialist and as such the copay is now higher. That would be understandable if I actually saw the specialist. For $70, I saw the nurse and the PA. I had an upper GI done and was determined to have severe acid reflux and GERD. After this discovery, not one doctor came in to advise me of why this is happening and what would be the course of corrective action. The PA told me that I needed to speak with Dr. Nick but the nurse told the PA that the doctor was not going to see me. The nurse was told to give me another prescription for the medication the PA told me could cause polyps in my stomach. Truly, I am upset with myself because there have been more than one red flag raised with these people. This is not the kind of after care anyone expects. Needless to say, I will not ever return to this place and have contacted the Texas Medical Board to inquire if the lack of adequate medical care could be considered medical malpractice. What should I expect from a man who was publicly accused of insurance fraud, among other unscrupulous acts. BEWARE!!! read more

Nicholson clinic is amazing. Dr. Long did my Gastric Bypass. From the first day I went to their office, every employee has been amazing and made me feel special. Dr. long explained to me my options, while listening to my concerns. Once, I decided on my procedure, I had Sylvia as my go to person during the whole insurance approval process. When my insurance was approved, My surgery was scheduled and I received all of my pre-op paperwork including what medications to take along with what diet I needed to be on prior to my surgery. Even with many questions, I was never felt like I was bothering them when I called. Once my surgery was completed I received a call from Candace to see how I was feeling after the surgery. I had a few complications and had to call the clinic. I spoke with Adam(PA). He listen to my concerns and instructed me on what to do. He even called back a couple of days later to check up on me. If you are looking for a group of skilled surgeons, caring staff, that makes you feel special during your process... I Highly recommend the Nicholson Clinic. If I had to do it all over again... I am having the gastric sleeve with Dr Brian Long on 12/5/19 and I have been highly impressed with his office. It has been a positive experience all the way from the minute I walked through the door. As a medical professional myself I was skeptical, but after meeting Dr Long in November at a free consultation I decided to move forward with setting up surgery. His bedside manner was amazing which is not common for surgeons, he explained all procedures I was appropriate for in detail, and answered every question I had. I then decided 3 days later I would have the gastric sleeve. Jordan MA was assigned to me, he is extremely organized and responds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Jordan explained everything pre-op to me and is continuing contact with me through my process. He is fantastic at his job! I have full faith in Dr Long and his team and I cannot wait for surgery and my results. I know 100% what I am getting into, the aftercare and the lifelong journey. I've struggled with my weight for my entire adult life, despite being very active and attending Weight Watchers.  It was effective, however I was never able to reach my goal weight or maintain my weight loss.  My sister underwent gastric sleeve surgery by the Nicholson Clinic in November 2015 and she lost 135 lbs. in a year.  I was struggling with multiple medical issues, and my physicians all blamed obesity.  I underwent the gastric sleeve procedure in June 2017 and it was the best decision I have ever made!  Insurance covered the procedure and the Nicholson Clinic supplied me with all of the tools that I needed to be successful.  Many of my ailments have improved or disappeared and I feel twenty years younger.  At age of 39, I am running and I have lost 105.7 lbs. in just over a year.  Doctor Nicholson only predicted a 70 lb. weight loss from the surgery.  I am only 9.7 lbs. away from my goal weight.  My self-esteem has improved tenfold. I had the Gastric Sleeve done on December 28th, 2015. The whole staff is awesome and Dr. Nicholson took his time to sit and talk with me and answered all my questions. As many as he has done, I know he heard all the questions before. It didn't bother him and he took his time to answer all my questions. It wasn't like okay you want this done and push me out so he could get to the next patient. I was placed on the 3 month program but it took a year cause stuff come up on my part. His staff was there the whole time, cause I one point I was ready just to forget it but they talked with me and reassured me that it was going to happen. On December the day came and Dr. Nicholson wasn't able to do my surgery and he placed me in the able hands of Dr. Carlton. Dr. Carlton introduced hisself and he was the same way, he answered all my question and assured me that he was going to take care of me and he did. I have lost 124lb so far. I am updating this review after seeing Dr nicks response. I will first say I find it very Disingenuous to infer that I may or may not be a patient when you know full and well I was. I already disclosed that I was a patient and that I had a surgery that you did. I have had surgery two times before and this is the first time I have every had a problem. I reported a lot of pain and you never took the time to even reassess me to see if maybe there was type of issue. I had my gallbladder removed the year before and I barley even felt it so what exactly you did that caused the amount of pain I am unsure and the attitude that you took after the fact is even worst. I'm not into basing healthcare professionals because I work in healthcare at the end of the day the surgery was a success but for a lack of better words my after care sucked. So I hope that you are able to take this review and improve somewhere and I'll leave it at that. read more

I'm so confused by some of these poor reviews as my experience has been phenomenal!! I had VGS done by Dr.Roshek about 2 weeks ago. He was very kind and informative before surgery and my family said he updated them thoroughly and quickly while I was in recovery. The staff at the office has also been wonderful both pre and post op, always there to answer any questions. I was particularly impressed when they did a follow up call post surgery and actually spent time talking to me and truly making sure I was ok at home, it wasn't just a call to check off a box, they took the time to truly check on me. I did have some pain over the weekend and called the after hours line, Dr. Nicholson called be back within 5 minutes and was extremely caring and kind. I researched a ton of surgeons before going with the Nicholson clinic and I'm so glad I did! I truly can't say enough positive things about them!! read more

I was one of the most adverse of people to even discussing weight loss surgery until my PCP said it was time. When I met with Dr. Kilgore (no longer with the clinic) I was pleasantly surprised at the meticulous way in which they handled my request. I was not shuttled through for surgery without thought for my health and full understanding of what this would mean in my life. I was also tested to see what other potential issues might be in play that would need to be addressed. The long and short of it, this was an AMAZING experience and after 107 lbs lost in a healthy fashion has left me with a TON more energy and has given me my life back. I am THAT Nana whose gbabies 100% expect her to be on the floor playing with them or out in the yard chasing them and this Nana doesn't disappoint! I love love love Dr Carlton and the Nicholson Clinic. (I tell everyone) my story that asks. Dr. Carlton literally saved my life by believing in me and giving me the tool I needed to be successful. I've lost 200 pounds from my highest weight, 150 since my surgery 7/21/2015 and no complications. I was literally walking dead. I had to use a scooter and a wheelchair, heart failure, you name it. This place is AMAZING !!! Dr. Brian Long is so caring and really listens to you as a patient. The first day I meet him I knew I wanted him to be my surgeon. I have meet a few others and by far I knew I wanted him to help me. I totally felt at ease when I meet him. The whole process from my 1st appt to having a surgery date was very pleasant. Jordan Mitchell helped me step by step. He was always so responsive and returned my calls and emails right away. He is so kind and really cares about you as a person and not just a patient. Every surgeon in the office has a unique personality that you'd be crazy not to love!! I had laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Nicholson on 10/27/09 at Forest Park Medical Center. Every appointment/seminar with him besides the actual surgery is at his clinic at Baylor, Plano. Dr. Nick was/is great. He gives you great information without trying to sell you anything. He gives you straight facts! The good and the bad, and it's honestly pretty scary, but you need to know EVERYTHING! I definitely recommend going to a free seminar of Dr. Nick's just to get facts. I've come to Nicholson clinic for help with my weight. It's been a problem most if not all my adult life. First rattle out of the box, I was met by very friendly office check in staff. Next, the nursing staff (Lindsay), also very professional, and accommodating. And finally, I met with Dr. Brian Long. Wonderful. Everyone has been professional, friendly and encouraging. Great experienc!! I weighed 265lb in July 2020 and set up my procedure for late august. The entire staff at the Nicholson clinic were vary nice and encouraging. Nick was my Sergeant and did beautifully and was helpful with all my concerns. But I have to say The medical assistant/ nurse Lindsay was my highlight. She held my hand during the scary parts and checked on me b4 surgery and probably after but I don't remember lol. I have seen three surgeons from this clinic and they have always treated me with the utmost respect and care. Throughout my whole process I have had a patient advocate name JORDAN MITCHELL, and he is the BEST!!!! He has made sure to always call me back, answer any questions, tell me my steps that I need to do, is so kind and he makes sure I am not delayed on my process. I was told at one point that my doctors appointment was going to be delayed by two weeks. I called him and he got the documents that Dr. Nick needed to call me that day!!! The Nicholson Clinic is AMAZING! Dr. Julie Kilgore did my Sleeve Gastrectomy on 2/14/18 & I've lost 60 lbs to date. This team is amazing, from the front staff, to nurses and Patient Care Advocates - they all care about your journey & the process.
