I went to pick up my items recently that I dropped off to be dry cleaned. When I got to my car in the parking lot, I realized that I was missing my skirt. I always make a list with details about my items when I drop them off at the cleaners. When I went back into Nicholson to tell them my skirt was missing, they told me they were still working on it. I asked when it would be ready and wanted to know if something was wrong with the piece. They told me that a woman was still working on my skirt and that it may be another day or two before it would be ready. I left that day and followed up in person a couple of days later to inquire and find out if it was ready. I kept getting the same excuse that a woman was still working on my skirt. I asked one of the ladies at the front what was happening with it because when I dropped it off, it had no stains. She explained to me that during the cleaning process, oils can come to the surface of a garment. If I ever bring an item in with stains, I notify them so that they can be aware and hopefully remove them! I was concerned and asked how many more days. She said hopefully in the next day or two. When I went back again to check up on my skirt, she tells me it is still not ready. I ask again what is going on and ask her to check with the person cleaning my garment to find out why it is taking so long to clean this item. She tells me the lady is off, but that she will get more information and give me call. Days go by and I do not get a call. I call myself to follow up and I get hung up on. I drop by the cleaners before work and the lady at the front tells me she finally talked with the woman cleaning my skirt and that the black from my skirt bled all over the lighter parts of my skirt. Then she tells me they have a solution to remedy that damage. She informs me my skirt is soaking in a liquid and that they are working on fixing my garment. Days and days go by and I get a call that my skirt is ready. I go to pick it up and it is completely RUINED! You can see where the black faded into the white of my skirt. I am really disappointed and upset because I was still charged to pick up my skirt. I was never asked if it was okay to soak my skirt in a liquid! That skirt was a Christmas gift from my Mother and was a nice designer brand Farm Rio. I would honestly like a refund for my skirt and a refund for the amount you charged me after you all completely ruined my garment. I had only worn it one time when I brought it in. IT NOW LOOKS LIKE IT WAS WORN 50 plus times as it is faded and feels rough and horrible to touch! I have been going to Nicholson cleaners for an extremely long time. Over 15 plus years. I have brought my really expensive pieces in for you all to clean. From Balenciaga on and have spent lots of money having you all dry clean my garments. The lining color pictured is what color the jacket previously was, before cleaning. I provided two photos, the first was not of my actual jacket but was what I googled when I all of the sudden had to prove you damaged my jacket. The second photo I provided was of the actual jacket and shows the different color. I repeatedly offered to contact the designer to get product shots of the garment, and to come into the cleaners to view the tape of me dropping it off but have only repeatedly been told that I'm wrong, that the color didn't change. I have nothing to gain, i would prefer my original jacket back. As mentioned in my previous review, the reason I would not recommend this cleaner is because of how I have been treated and communicated with in my effort to resolve the fact that they changed the color/shrank my jacket. They have yet to reply to the first notice from the Better Business Bureau complaint and I will continue to move forward with that as opposed to dealing with them directly. read more

I seldom need items dry cleaned, so when I do it is for something important. We discovered a mystery stain on my daughter's prom dress after we purchased it. I took it to a different cleaners to have it cleaned and they actually CREATED a new stain on the bodice. The owner didn't seem to care, and said they would clean it for free AFTER the PROM. If there was an option to leave zero stars, I definitely would. I first tried this location out with several different items, one of which being a really nice white blouse of mine. I haven't been able to wear that white blouse since. There were three or four stains on the top when I got it back none of which would come out. Those stains were not on it prior. First visit=COMPLETE FAIL I decided to give this cleaners one more try since it was conveniently located in my neighborhood. I took a couple different items there again...one of those being a white cotton/linen jumpsuit from Free People. That beautiful jumpsuit came back not white, but pastel pink. I don't know how they are cleaning customers items but clearly the process needs some major improvements. The first time with the multiple stains and second with turning the white jumpsuit a completely different color. I 100% do not recommend this dry cleaner and unless you want your clothes ruined. DO NOT USE NICHOLSONS Reference photos with stains and the photo of the jumpsuit compared to an actual white shirt. read more

I wouldn't use this service. I just revised this from 2 stars to 1 star. They do poor work at best. The shirts were done ok. The laundry was a freak show. Not folded properly, sox and underwear thrown in, just bad. They determined it best to dry clean a $4 jockey t-Shirt for $6.90... and... they changed $3 per pound for the wash and fold mess. To have 2 shirts laundered and 15lbs of easy wash and fold cost $76.00 I'm probably expecting too much for Nashville services. In NYC there's a cleaner on every corner, shirts are $2.50 and wash and fold is $1.00 a pound read more

Yesterday we called to ask if we needed to make an appointment to have the two of us, me and my boyfriend, to come down and have a suit and dress altered. The woman who my boyfriend spoke with yesterday stated, 'when did you want to come in', he said "tomorrow in the morning around 8am', she said, 'oh we're clear on the books then, just come in'. My boyfriend again asked, 'so we don't need an appointment, not even with it being the two of us?'. The woman assured us we didn't. We arrived this morning at 8:00 and announced we were there for alterations. 'Do you have an appointment', was the first thing the person there asked us. 'No we don't have an appointment, whom ever we talked to yesterday said we didn't need one and that we could just come on in.' This woman said 'well I wasn't here yesterday, I don't know anything about that'. Okay.... 'I can leave a message for her to call you when she comes in, usually she's here this morning, but maybe she had to pick up something or drop something off, like I said I wasn't here yesterday so I don't know anything about it'. We did leave our name and number, if they do call us I'll be saying no 'Thank You'. WORST customer service I've experienced in a long time. There is nothing worse than being wishy washy about your policies. ALSO saying "well I wasn't here yesterday, I don't know anything about it", is quite possibly the most useless statement anyone could make. There was very little attempt to make the situation better, why not call the person from yesterday and ask what's up, are they on their way? I could understand if someone was just running late, or held up because of an emergency, but leaving it open ended like that is just plain crappy. Imagine if you placed an order for a large office lunch and arrived at the restaurant to pick it up and they told you, "oh we don't have that ready, no one told me about that", then did nothing to fix it, just sent you on your way with a vague idea of when you may even hear back from them? That's exactly the sort of thing that makes people never want to come back there again. I certainly won't be coming back here or recommending this place to anyone. read more

I've been using Nicholson maybe once a month for the past year. The staff are always friendly and it's the best cleaners closest to my house. But I've toyed with the idea of going elsewhere because their hours aren't great for me. However, after a recent experience I have decided to continue using them as my cleaners. I took my husbands suit to be dry cleaned and when I got it back we noticed some damage. After discussing it with the folks at Nicholson we realized the damages were from moths, not because of something Nicholson did. They were generous enough to fix the damages at no charge even though they were totally not their fault. I was so surprised by their kindness and professionalism. It was clear to me that my satisfaction as a customer was important to them. I picked up the suit yesterday and dropped something else off to be cleaned. I took my Tallit (Jewish scarf) to them for cleaning. They got 90% of the water spot out (for $13!) and when I asked them to complete the job, they agreed. I later got a call from someone claiming to be an owner who told me she thought further cleaning would damage the fabric and asked me to come get it back. Last week I decided to try Dryelle on this "Impossible spot" and it disappeared instantly. There was no damage to the fabric either. So I found them to be expensive ($13 for a scarf) and ineffective. TERRIBLE! I have taken clothes here in the past, and was disappointed when they lost a scarf belonging to one dress and ruined the elastic completely in another. I should have known not to bring my clothes back, but because the location is convenient and the people seem nice I returned. Though they didn't lose anything this time, I am extremely disappointed. All of my clothes came back shrunken. My favorite dress is now a full size smaller--the arm holes dig into my shoulders and the hem falls far higher than it did before. There were snaps to keep bra straps in place which are now broken. The entire job cost close to $100, which seems incredibly overpriced, especially since they ruined my clothes. I think they must just wash the clothes in regular washing machines. Will not be returning. read more

Appeared as an additional item. $17 for a jumpsuit? $16 for a dress? You can find similar clothes on sale for a little over that. Might as well buy a new jumpsuit instead of getting it cleaned twice. I'm a professional procrastinator who rarely gets anything dry-cleaned or tailored, but I desperately needed a few dress shirts taken in, and quickly. Tip: if you have your new suit altered, have the shirt altered also, or else risk the shirt fitting like a poncho underneath a fly-ass James Bond suit. This is especially a problem if you have monkey arms like me. But, before flying to Montana to sing in a wedding, I ran down to my neighborhood cleaners and asked if they could alter two shirts in one day. The answer, happily, was yes. They did a great job of fitting me, explaining what exactly they'd be doing, and then did it in less than 24 hours for ~20 bucks a shirt (actually, probably less, since one of them got cleaned as well). Granted, I have no frame of reference for how long this should take or how much it should cost, but I do know fast, friendly service when I see it, and I saw it here. I probably won't have anything else altered for another ten years, but they've earned my dry cleaning business for sure. read more

Nicholson's has been my cleaner of choice since moving to Nashville over two years ago. They have the best customer service, cleaning and alterations in East Nashville. Upon walking in, you are always greeted promptly and with a sense of true welcoming. They turn around your items in one day. 1 day! Yup, if you bring your items in in the morning, they can have them ready the next day. So, if you are wondering why they charge a little more (minus a star) than most places. This is just part of the reason. I tend to like to get my clothes fitted. Since the standard American has grown on average in size; I find that most things that I buy need a little fitting. They will quickly bring you in the back, let you try on your item, and make the appropriate marking for the tailor. Because of the shear volume of items they handle, it does take about a week to get items back. I usually pay around $15-$20 of pants alterations. I have been taking items here often for several years. I have never had an item lost or damaged. And, they are always well taken care of and pressed perfect. Nicholson's provides 5 star service and 5 star services. That deserves a high-5! read more

Every time we drop off the ladies at the counter are very engaging and friendly, and they always have your clothes ready for you within 24 hours. If you have something that is a specialty item, or beaded, or a rug... something that would require expert knowledge, then bring it here, oh, also good with alterations and sewing patches on Girl Scout uniforms. But to be honest if you have a run if the mill item, I would call them and try to get coupons. It's a family owned business, a personal call might go a long way. read more

**UPDATE: the owner read my review, called me, and offered to make this right. He ended up cleaning my coat (finally!), and cleaning another coat for free. Then, he called back to make sure I was satisfied. I'm in awe of this level of customer service and I WILL be using this cleaners again!!** First time customer, last time customer :( So, I needed a black wool coat cleaned because some cola had been spilled on the hem. I looked on Yelp, saw that this place had decent reviews, and took it in last Thursday (1/29). I told the person behind the counter that cola had been spilled on the hem. Her words, "Oh, don't worry, that will come out in the cleaning." I took her word for it. When I picked it up on Fri. (1/30) and got it home, I realized that the inside lining of the coat where the cola had spilled was now hard and stiff (like it had just been dry cleaned with no spot treatment). I took the coat back in on Sat. AM (1/31), and showed the person behind the counter the hard and stiff lining where the cola stain had obviously not been treated. She agreed with me that it wasn't clean, and assured me that they would clean the coat properly this time. The coat would be ready by Monday PM (2/2). When my partner went into the cleaners to pick up my coat today (2/2), the stained hem was still there--still hard and stiff. Nothing had changed. When she asked the person behind the counter she was told that "the stain should have been marked and maybe the tape fell off--that happens some times" and also that we could leave the coat again (3rd time) for the guy who does the spot cleaning to look at it and clean the stain. We were told that the coat would be cleaned and ready by Monday afternoon, so I'm unclear why they guy who does the spot cleaning hadn't already cleaned the coat? No mention of a refund, no apologies for the mistake. Many trips to a cleaner for a coat that still isn't clean. We won't be returning here, that's for sure. read more

I wanted to get married in this beautiful 1950s prom dress I found online. It was a bit worn looking, had broken boning, and I wanted to put straps on it. My mother took it to Linda at this location. The dress came back absolutely gorgeous! She even took some of the material from the inner lining of the dress to make my straps so that it would match perfectly and keep the integrity of this vintage piece. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CLOTHING GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - I wish I had listened to the bad reviews. I took my wedding dress here to have it cleaned and regret trusting them with something so special. Initially I felt good about going to Nicholson cleaners because I found out they clean wedding dresses in house rather than shopping them off somewhere to be mass cleaned. I picked up my dress and got home to switch it over to my garment bag and I noticed that the hem was still dirty. A tag was on the dress that said "some spots still may be left and any further treatment could cause damage to the fabric". For paying over $200 to get the dress cleaned, this seemed like a cheap cop out of an excuse. Not to mention the other dirt on the hem seemed to have come out fine. Sadly this wasn't even the worst part... I noticed the shoulder pads and breast cups that were custom ordered and sewn into my dress were missing. It seemed odd that they would've cut them out and especially that they wouldn't have been returned to me as they are part of the dress and my property. I called them immediately and they said they needed me to bring back the dress so they could check it out. Fast forward to today.. I took the dress back and asked about the cups and shoulder pads and they had no idea where they were. She told me the best she could do would be to order new cups and pads and they would sew them - that's it. I asked her why they were taken out in the first place and she said sometimes they come off in the cleaning process. They must have pressure washed my dress, because I'm not sure how these things that were COMPLETELY SEWN IN would just fall out, not to mention they lost them?! I can't believe I spent so much money for them to rip up my dress and not even clean it fully. So disappointing. read more
