Although cool I didn't think it added much to the experience and was little gimmicky. I tried the cookie dough which was solid and not too sweet. My friend tried one of their seasonal flavors (lavender honey) and it tasted like neither. I think they use the same base for most of their flavors because hers tasted very similar to mine and both were good quality. I was the only person in the shop that afternoon and the ambiance was quiet, but the server was monosyllabic with his explanation of what the shop offers. I had time so I hung back to see what other patrons ordered when they arrived. I found out that only a few flavors are available as a single serving, the bulk of their flavors are packaged as pints. I didn't find any single serving flavors that I really wanted but I was already there and settled for their seasonal pumpkin offering, only to find that they don't accept cash. The food choice, curt service, and lack of payment options made me feel that this wasn't meant to be. I left and went to do errands elsewhere before heading back to DC. Nicecream is one of my family's favorite ice cream places. We've only been here five times over the past year since we come from the Mount Vernon area, but we still make the drive. However, one area for improvement is the consistency in scoop size and the thickness of the milkshakes since the staff changes. I'm not sure if $8.99 for a watery milkshake is what the new staff was trained to make. I asked the gentleman behind the counter to remake the shake, but it came out thin again, resembling chocolate milk. The staff explained that they usually make it that way: one-third ice cream to two-thirds milk? (A video is included.) First come, first served? Not today at this place. The people behind us in line received their ice cream first, and their portions were visibly larger. The workers had difficulty managing the line when it got too long, especially since there were only two people on staff. The wait extended out to the street, and five people ended up walking away. I hope this will help management make some changes because the neglected interior and worn-out mixers are making the novelty of watching ice cream being made diminish, especially when the prices don't match the service or quality control. Lastly, either raise the partitions higher or train the staff to be more careful when pouring the nitrogen, as the splash goes over the partition and hits customers when the liquid nitrogen is being poured and mixed. Remember the case where McDonald's didn't think anyone would sue for being burned by hot coffee, and then someone did and won millions? They were forced to put warnings on the lids of every hot beverage. These are just some thoughts for improvement, but it's up to you whether you want to address the suggestions since it is your business, not mine. read more

I had the nutella and a friend had the strawberry basil. the nutella retained the nuttiness of the hazelnut and was the right level of sweet. the basil in the strawberry basil added a level of depth to strawberry ice cream that i'd yet to experience. My tip is that 2 flavor scoops is much cheaper and more worth it than one ($6). We got the pumpkin spice which deliciously tasted just like pumpkin pie. I went here on a late night ice cream run with my sibling and was pleasantly surprised. They only have a few flavors on their menu, which I believe is limited by the number of KitchenAid stand mixer that they have to mix their batches with the liquid nitrogen.
