I get the appeal with the different, unique flavors, but there was nothing that stood out for me at Mimi's. I was kind of disappointed by the quality - not very creamy so I'd skip.

Thai Iced Tea and Ube

Cute little courtyard location with large parking lot. This was a busy shop but the line moved quick. They had a nice variety outside of the basics. We got Oreo mint, Thai iced tea and ube. It was creamy and fresh. You can tell it's home made. The Thai iced tea was my favorite. I will dream about this flavor!

Even though it is very cold outside, we were next to it and we had to go back. They are so welcoming and let you try as many flavors as you want. I got the salted caramel and it was so good. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area.

I absolutely adore this place. The asian inspired flavors are powerful and delicious. I especially loved the black sesame one and highly recommend it. I love this local ice cream shop and the owners and definitely want to keep supporting them! The owners and workers are super nice and friendly. Theres a couple of seating indoors but there's also plenty of seating in outdoors. Great place to hang out with friends!

Amazing service. It was raining when I came to get ice cream to go and I got a top for my ice cream cups, as well as a bag to hold them in. That was thoughtful. Ice cream wise, my kids devoured the strawberry. My husband and I shared the black sesame and it was definitely the best black sesame flavor we have had. It wasn't too sweet and I can definitely taste actually black sesame with a nutty aroma. I definitely want to come back and try more flavors, such as the lychee.

We stopped in today and it was amazing. The shop was quiet so we got to talk to the owner for a while. He told us about how he started the business. He was super kind and talked to us about some of his flavors he makes. He roasts his bananas for 4 hours to make the banana nut ice cream. He also makes his own butterscotch which is an amazing flavor too. Cannot give this a high enough rating. We stopped in today and it was amazing. I'm not sure if the lady who helped us is the owner but she was really nice. I was a little skeptical about asking for samples because alot of places had stopped doing them after the pandemic but anyways we were able to sample the lychee, super Oreo, and the Cookie Monster and everything was delicious. We ended up going with all of the flavors we sampled ! The guy that was at the cash register was super nice too. It smells so good inside too. The flavors and cleanliness of the store just hits you as soon as you walk in. I'm normally a vegan girlie with ice cream due to the milk but I realized that the ice cream didn't mess with my stomach.

Delicious handmade ice cream with a plethora of unique flavors! The staff is great and patiently let my friend and I sample a variety of flavors. The boozy Bailey's flavor was creamy and delicious and paired well with the Cinnamon Crunch flavor and reminded me of Horchata. My friend got the Bailey's and paired with Ube. The serving is generous and a single scoop (split scoop is available!) is plenty of ice cream and more than enough to share. I've visited the Fairfax location and am looking forward to visiting more locations and exploring new flavors!

After a tough day I decided to indulge in ice cream. I went to one store but their small selection didn't have any flavors that appealed to me and when I settled for ordering an available flavor they didn't take cash! I was in no mood to like anything. I just wanted stress relief by chocolate! Mimi's turned my upset mood into a good mood. The ambiance was cute and typical of ice cream parlors, with a few seats for eating in and a spacious plaza for eating outdoors. The servers were quick and friendly. They offered tastes of their recommended flavors. My mission to get chocolate came to a screeching halt when I tasted Mimi's cantaloupe sorbet. Who knew that it was possible to taste summer sunshine from a spoon?!? As I completed my purchase the gentleman behind the counter shared that they used no additives... only ripe cantaloupes, water, and sugar. I highly recommend and will be back!

double scoop: apple pie and lychee

Officially my favorite ice cream in the DMV! They have a wide variety of flavor options ranging from classics to unique offerings to satisfy practically any craving. Service was super quick and they were more than welcome to provide samples before committing to a flavor. I ended up going with a lychee and apple pie double scoop in a waffle bowl. The quality of the ice cream was so evident with every bite. Both flavors were so unique and loved the incorporation of fresh fruit bits. I paid a little over $9 for the double scoop including the waffle bowl add on. Prices are pretty fair considering they give GENEROUS portion sizes (me and my partner were stuffed after sharing this) I was so sold after eating my ice cream that I almost got baited into buying their pint offerings (luckily I refrained myself). Excited to come back and try more flavors!

If you love Icecream. Decent spot. Ambiance was quiet and family like Service was nice with friendly staff members You can test sample different flavors before choosing. Good date spot for dessert

Honestly one of my favorite ice cream places in the area. There usually is a line, but it goes by pretty fast if you're patient -- it gives you time to think about what flavors you're going to get! There are a wide variety of flavors, ranging from your basic chocolate and vanilla and sorbets, to your more tropical flavors like ube and Thai tea. I usually order a scoop of Ube and something else. I love that their ube ice cream is not too sweet, and not too plain. I also love knowing that they source their ube from a local Filipino store in NoVA. The something else that I got last time was cinnamon custard crunch (has nuts). So yummy, so cinnamony, and subtly sweet with a nice crunch. The price for 2 scoops after tax and tip is around $7-8 which is a great price for homemade ice cream! You know it's homemade the faster it melts, so grab napkins. It's pretty clean inside, but be wary that there isn't too much seating inside. There are places to sit around Pentagon Row outside, especially during the summer. Not too sure about seating during winter time since they put out the outdoor skating rink. Nonetheless, whatever season it may be, I highly recommend checking out Mimi's for your post dinner sweet tooth!

Some interesting flavors. The black sesame is pretty good! The ice cream shop also gave great portion, big scoops!

Matcha, lychee, lemon poppy, Thai sweet basil, and tiramisu flight.

That said, the broth flavor is excellent and stands on its own without needing sriracha or house sauce. The noodles are great, and the vegetables are always fresh and good quality. Consistency is a strong point here, both with the food and the service. The staff is friendly, quick, and accommodating. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and the full bar is a plus. The summer rolls are tasty, though a bit on the smaller side.

Was going to try their Japanese Ramen, but it didn't really hit the mark for traditional Japanese Ramen compared to the Ramen shops. Does it hit the spot? Sure because it's tasty but the noodles, the broth, the ingredients when compared to authentic Japanese is not quite there. Also tried the spicy beef pho. It really wasn't that spicy a lot more water down probably for more Americanized taste. I personally enjoyed it because I was actually afraid it would be super spicy, but it was more that it wasn't very aromatic. That was the missing piece for me.

Normally I thank these vendors for the sample and continue on but my feet wouldn't move. Their salted caramel is THE BEST I've ever had. Incredibly creamy (almost like gelato) with bits of what tastes like waffle cone crumbs and cocoa nibs mixed in with swirls of caramel. I ordered 1 scoop and what they gave me was a generous mound. The guys running the stand couldn't have been nicer. Absolutely recommend D Lai's ice cream.

You can immediately tell the guy running the pop-up is incredibly passionate about ice cream. He let us sample a few flavors and was genuinely excited to talk through them. I usually gravitate toward berry-flavored ice cream, and I really enjoyed the creamy textures and richness of all the flavors we tried. I ended up ordering a mixed berry scoop. The dude mentioned he mixed some leftover strawberries and blueberries, then threw in some raspberries mixed with a bit of crumble? and went to town. I really liked how well the three berries worked together, but after a few spoonfuls, the richness really set in. My previously transparent spoon actually turned opaque from all the fat in the ice cream, and I started to notice a slightly filmy mouthfeel. That said, the flavors themselves were top-notch, and it's clear the guy truly cares about what he's making. D/Lai also sells pint-sized ice cream, which feels like the perfect guilty-pleasure treat to enjoy at home. Overall, very creamy, very rich, and thoughtfully made ice cream.
