We booked as a group of 4 with very short notice but the owner and manager of the parlor were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure via emails and calls that everything was arranged beforehand and that we were happy with everything. Two of our group had never had tattoos before and said they very much enjoyed the experience; the two artists were very helpful throughout the process, they loved the relaxed, friendly vibe of the studio itself staff, and found the tattoo process itself pretty-much painless. My and wife I are more experienced but were very pleased with Nice Tattoo; my artist (Alex) completed a fairly detailed tattoo perfectly *very* quickly and was great when it came discussing last second changes to my design, and my wife gave fairly broad details and her artist (Sarah) came up with a design that my wife loves. The studio was comfortable to wait in as well, with a nice seating area, clean facilities and plenty of reading material (and candy!) to keep guests occupied. The aftercare instructions were well-explained as well (I don't know if this is the industry standard now but it was my first time using second-skin that Nice provided as part of the service and that was brilliant for aftercare). Seemed perfect for first-timers. I think the prices charged are standard for Brooklyn, and Nice were great in ensuring we were within our budgets. read more

I had the best experience at Nice Tattoo with Jora. The whole process was a little intimidating and scary but Jora made it very easy and comfortable. Jora was very responsive to emails and even responded in the AMs (that really shows you how dedicated she is). I showed her what I wanted and she created a sketch that was unique to me and I loved it. The day before the tattoo appointment Jora sent me an email of recommendations before the appointment. The day of the appointment, she was very nice and patient with me. I had to change the placement of my tattoo a few times and she was super nice about it. Now on to the tattooing part, it was not painful at all!! I thought she put on numbing cream but I guess she's just really gentle. She would give me updates on the progress and make sure I am okay throughout the process. The whole process took around 2 hours but it didn't feel long at all and plus it wasn't painful at all so I even took a mini nap. I have definitely recommended Jora to a few of my friends who are looking for a new tattoo and I can't wait to go back to her for another one. 10/10 recommend!! read more

We made appointments the day prior when asking about walk ins. The girl on the phone confirmed for two with the guest artist for the next day. We sent emails back and forth, but when we asked about a deposit we were told to call it in. We called and there was no answer... okay... the next day we realize we're going to be a little late. Call the shop. No answer. Okay.... We get there, tell the receptionist we were there for the appointment and she tells us great, she's just going to check in with the artist and we should be good to go. Fill out the consent form. My boyfriend is pretty hungry, so he asks the receptionist if we could grab a bite to eat. At this point she tells us the artist hasn't gotten back. Now something is pretty fishy. Not only are we 45 min late for the appointment, but the artist isn't even responding to your messages? Did we have an appointment? What is going on? My boyfriend then shows the emails we sent back and forth with the ship confirming everything. The receptionist was basically like, okay. That's cool. Basically, we didn't get tattooed. And in a tattoo shop where everyone is supposed to be nice, we weren't treated very nicely about this mixup. Honestly, we were the nice ones in this situation. Very weird experience. "NOT" so NICE. I let things go.... But, I feel obligated to share my experience. NICE Tattoo, you can keep the $100 dollars and perhaps use it to train your associates in communications. ____ I reached out to NICE tattoo last year. I was looking for a very simple design. It was right after a traumatic, life changing incident. I wanted to capture something from that experience on my forearm. I did my research and NICE looked like a good place. In my initial submissions, I told them that it will be about 6 months or so before I am ready to commit to a date due to my health. They were ok and asked me to deposit $100 dollars. Which I gladly did. They asked for some references re: the look of the tattoo. My partner is a designer. He is "NOT a tattoo designer" but a designer. So he designed what I had in mind. NICE parlor suggested an individual (you know who you are) and give me her email address. We started email correspondence in March of 2022. I updated her again on my survival story along with what I had in mind for the tattoo. She seemed very nice and empathetic to my story. Again, she asked me to share any ideas or references I have for the tattoo along with a deposit of $100 dollar. I send her some drawings that my partner had sketched out + Zelle payment. I also said "this tattoo is a start... can you work with this and we can collaborate and refine as needed". I mentioned to her that my schedule is a bit hectic with work travels / triathlon races. Plus, I needed blood work done and get ok from my Doctor for a tattoo. She was ok with the timeline. I asked her to send me an updated version of the tattoo so I can review and see if anything needed to be changed or revised. For some reason she would not update the tattoo. Her exact response "An exact price is hard to give without having a consultation in person, but I can assure you that what I design will be within your budget and we can definitely discuss all of that the day of your appointment as well. Once I have a final design, and we know the exact size and placement I will be able to give you an accurate price before we start the tattoo to make sure we are all on the same page." and added "it's small design and we can do this when you are in the studio". In April we started corresponding again for dates for my tattoo. I asked her again, "can you share what you have done so far" - again, she would not send me the revise version. Ok, fine. She told me once I am in the studio she can show me the design. That made no sense to me but again, ok. So, on April 29th I went to the studio in Brooklyn and was very excited to see what revision she came up with..... to my surprise; it was literally my partners design on a tablet. I was taken aback. There was no creativity from her. She didn't even pay any attention to details on the design. I sat there trying to refine it. She played on the tablet and moved things around /revised them according to my responses. It was a good 30 min when all was said and done. She printed the paper with 3 revisions for me and I took it home. Fuming as to why she didn't even try to revise it. Kept saying "there is so much detail in this tattoo, I will have to eliminate some stuff". I am thinking, "so do it...." that is why I asked you to put your creative spin on it. Maybe I had high expectations, but, isn't her job to tell me what will work and what doesn't? I got home and showed it to my partner - he picked it apart. Hate to admit it, but, he was correct. The lines didn't match up - the spacing was incorrect among other stuff. So, I packed it in and researched again. My partner helped again and this time we got it smaller and less complicated. I sent her a note and told her that I am re-working the tattoo and that it will be much simpler. In May of 2022 I sent her the revised version. There was no response re: tattoo but, just some dates for the next appt. On they day of the appt, she was running late and sent me a text saying that she was late. I appreciated that. I got to the studio, met her and she printed the piece of paper that I had sent her. Again, she didn't do anything to the artwork and said "well, you have already done the work for me" with an edge. I told her that I wanted something simpler and the 1st tattoo was too busy. Again, she played around with the simpler tattoo and said "the details will be hard to capture". She proceeded to tell me "I will reconfigure it and send it back along with some times to actually get this tattoo done. That was June 6, 2022 and I am still waiting for any communications. I have sent her an email, a text. Plus, I made a phone call to the studio and spoke to someone, & NOTHING. As I said, its not about $100 dollars, its about professionalism & courtesy. I don't need the $100 dollars... i can get a tattoo from another place. What I need is for NICE tattoo parlor to learn how to communicate. read more

TLDR; don't go to a trendy tattoo shop in Williamsburg. Stick to the traditional spots. -------- A disappearing act ~ I was excited about trying this shop out, I've gotten tattoos around the country and always love to support a women-forward shop. (I have since learned it's owed and operated by a man, I feel like that information is a little buried) Making appointment, I was passed around between a few different artist and was eventually given to an apprentice, which is no be deal because these were to be very simple tattoos. The shop was cute, it seems a little less put together than other professional shops, but they were new - so I didn't mind! My artist took the time to work with placement and detail which i loved, but I couldn't feel the needle when being tattooed, which was concerning. I asked for her to go over the art again, and she did, but again I couldn't feel anything. 2 days later they were already disappearing, having years of experience with tattoos AND previous finger tattoos I was not happy. I returned a month later for a touch up (aka a full redo) and it happened again. The X's held up a bit but still need to be fixed. The other two are non existent. I received my tattoo from Nas on a Sunday afternoon. She was so willing to get me in her schedule and was enthusiastic to be working on me. I was more than pleased with her initial work during the consultation portion of my time there. I had sent her a photo of what I wanted tattooed, but didn't give much direction as to how I wanted it done. I found her work through Instagram and trusted that I was fond of her artistic approach. She advised on size and placement in the area I had an idea of wanting it. I was extremely pleased with her professionalism throughout the entire process. She explained everything she was doing and why. It was my first tattoo and couldn't have asked for a better experience. I got my first tattoo by Hannah and she perfectly designed a tattoo that I asked for. I specifically wanted a fine line geometric theme tattoo and her skills were amazing with the details! She was very nice and make sure to explained everything to me to make sure I was okay with the design before permanently inking me. The whole process took about 1.5hrs for the consultation and tattoo. You are allowed to bring a friend to accompany you if you're nervous so I was happy my friends were there for me. Overall, the whole experience was quite good except there was some confusion with scheduling and I was ended up rescheduled to a different time. It wasn't her fault but her assistant accidentally pencil in someone else instead of me. However, Hannah was super nice to compensate me a credit to make up for the inconvenience. Honestly, for a good artist I don't mind the cost as long as the artist is respectful of my time. Hannah definitely provide amazing service to me and I am very satisfied with my first tattoo! I am so happy I came here! I had been wanting to get in with Hannah for a while because she does amazing microrealism dog portraits and I wanted a memorial tattoo of my dog. Love my tattoo, love the vibe, everyone is laid back, friendly, nonjudgmental and nice :) I had to knock off one star because they don't have tattoo chairs. The only have massage tables and depending on where you are getting the tattoo, laying down isn't the most comfortable position. This is the only tattoo parlor I've been to that doesn't have chairs. Hopefully they can get some soon, they've only been open for a year, and then they'd be 5 stars in my book! read more

I just got my very first tattoo done here last week. I didn't know exactly what to expect and I was extremely nervous. When I first walked in, I could see that the studio was clean and brightly lit, with plenty of natural light as well. The receptionist was friendly and professional, and I got to sit in a comfortable chair while I waited for my artist (I didn't have to wait too long). The artist I had booked with was Sarah, who was very kind and patient. We spent a few minutes finalizing the design of my tattoo and soon I was lying on the table, with screens up for privacy. I asked her to tell me right before the needle was about to touch my skin, and she did. The first 5-10 minutes were the worst, but again this was my first tattoo and I was getting it in a spot that's known to be more sensitive. Sarah talked to me to distract me from the pain and we had a great conversation. She was really fun and interesting to talk to! Eventually I built up a tolerance to the pain and noticed it a lot less. Overall, I think the actual tattooing process took about an hour, but I was there for around 2 hours total because she gave me a short break halfway through and then waited 15 minutes or so when it was done before cleaning it and putting the bandage on. The tattoo itself is beautiful and I'm very happy with it. I can tell that Sarah is very experienced and gentle because most of the sensitivity had gone away in about a day and I now even forget the tattoo is there! I had a wonderful experience and I'm so glad I decided to get my first tattoo done at Nice! I don't live nearby, but I'd absolutely go back the next time I'm in the area. It's true. Literally everyone in this place is so nice. Which is such a personal relief for me for a number of reasons. But beyond my personal preferences, this is truly is the best tattoo parlor ever. I initially scheduled my appointment with Hannah after seeing her work on Instagram. Just wanted some fine lettering in two spots. We scheduled my appointment, and then I asked to change it but later had it moved back to the original time as it ended up being better for both she and I. Several hours before my appointment I received an email from Robert (shop manager) letting me know that a few train delays in client commutes caused a back up in the appt bookings and that I could come in at my scheduled time or 30mins later if I wanted (I appreciated the heads up about the delay). I went in at my scheduled time anyway and Robert made sure I was comfortable, offered refreshments and even offered to phone me back to the shop when Hannah was ready if I wanted to roam the area. I'm lazy, so I opted to read while I waited instead. And after a totally unforeseen (and unavoidable) scheduling conflict, Hannah wasn't able to tattoo me; but Robert helped me choose the designs/fonts for my lettering, had the stencils made and my tattoos were done by Jess (co-owner) in no time. Not only am I totally satisfied with my tattoos, but I really appreciated the accommodations made and genuine apologies offered for the mix up. I knew they were absolutely not at fault and that things happen, but they insisted on making sure I, as a new customer, knew that this kind of issue was a first and that they appreciated my understanding. For that, I'm thrilled to make Nice Tattoo Parlor my home base for ink (I already have a 1/2 sleeve and 4 other small tattoos, each done in different places because I just never felt satisfied enough to stay loyal to one place until Nice). I can't wait to go back and get started on my next two (bigger) pieces. I said all this to say, not only are you getting quality work by professional artists, but you're getting the amazing experience of customer appreciation from the moment you inquire (which is so rare). And if something goes any other way than they promise to deliver it, they make it right. I genuinely get the feeling that everyone at Nice Tattoo Parlor loves what they do and values their client base. I almost wanted to keep this place to myself as a secret, but they totally deserve as much praise as possible. I was trying to communicate with an artist for months and even though I replied within 24 hrs (sometimes within the hour) it would take 5+ days for her to tell me that the slot was taken. Her lack of response to me was made even more obvious when the fastest time replying was after I pointed out that it felt like I was put on the back burner. Stumbled on this place like a week ago during work, and so so so happy I did!! This is an all-chick tattoo joint which is cool as hell, the place has a great vibe, good tunes, and the owner jes is the best! She's super chill, and has an eye for fun stuff! I swear I think she's on my wave~. Anyway, while I was there "working", I made an appointment right away, went in this last Sunday for a swirly, girly, heart n star kinda wrist cuffy thing, which I realized was Jes' specialty~~~go figure. Anyway, it came out great, I totally love it, and now I wanna get cute tattoos all over! Yay! read more
