There's not one bad seat in the building! From the barstools to the plush theatre seats, you're good here. Nexus has a great thing going! Aside from the movie-going experience and the stellar surround sound situation, the dining options are great also. I've tried the Asian salad, burger, and hand cut fries. All were pretty great. They also make a mean Bushwacker and Mudslide at the bar! You place your orders and call for service via iPad, and their system is pretty seamless. Yes, it's pricey, but I do believe it's appropriate considering the prices of a standard movie (w/ concessions) experience these days. For me, Nexus challenges status quo, and offers much more than any movie experience I've witnessed near and far. Salud!

Nexus Cinema is a much need addition to the entertainment sector of Mobile. I've lived in other places that had cinema dining years ago. Glad that we have one now. Pros: The friendly staff are a huge plus at Nexus. The guy at the ticket was very warm and welcoming. The bar area was neat and clean. A great place to have a drink after work or before a movie. The movie theater seats were plush, comfortable and clean (no smelly feet smells). Lastly, the food was good. Everything we ordered was very tasty. Cons: The food portion sizes were really small. It was ok for me but my guy was hungry after we left the movie. The costs at Nexus are pretty pricey as well. We spent about the exact amount of a night at Ruth's Chris after buying tickets, dinner & drinks. Lastly, NO military discounts. I love places that show the Vets some love. Overall I was very pleased and we will return but we probably will grab dinner before.

Awesome concept to put a restaurant, bar & movie theater all in one. Food had mixed reviews from our family of 4 but overall it was good. Wish the reclining seats went back just a little more, was like sitting in. Recliner that couldn't lean all the way back. The delivery system of ordering everything you need from your seat is perfect! Easy day out for us. Price wasn't too bad. Spent about $25-30 each for food & sodas (no alcohol) plus $18 each for the movie. Was very convenient to have it all in one place. Movie screen was in perfect shape and sound system was great. Overall very happy with our visit. Highly recommend for an easy & relaxing night out!

Disclaimer - This review is based on MY experience alone…read more I have visited this place a total of 3 times. The first experience was fine, no problem. The second experience, I was met with attitude when I asked a question about a menu item - maybe the barista was having a bad day. The final experience occurred when I asked the barista is there an up-charge for syrup on the walls (not all coffee shops charge for this, btw). The barista responds, "No problem I can do that do that for you," and proceeds to make my drink. I look at my receipt and see that there was in fact, a charge for the syrup walls. Now this is a matter of integrity and principle. If there is an up-charge, then be "up-front" about it, especially when asked. Being shady or evasive about pricing a good way to gain loyal customers. Needless to say, this was my final time patronizing this establishment. Poor customer service is not a good look, especially in times of economic posterity. I'll take my money/business elsewhere. If a manager/supervisor actually reads these reviews, I strongly suggest reviewing the importance of pricing transparency and soft skills with staff.

For instance, advised that my daughter was shy when the kid hesitated to order one day, the barista brightened up even more and put the girl at ease. Whether their coffee is good or not is completely subjective. I think it's good overall, but it might not be my first choice in town. But it's made with care, and as mentioned, roasted in house. Its popularity speaks to its quality. They also have a very good selection of pastries and other goodies to accompany your coffee, including a Mobile institution--cheesecake from a local company called Cotton Blues. The only gripe I have about Carpe Diem is their seating setup. There simply isn't enough of it. That said, I don't know how they could use the space more efficiently, since the cafe is small as it is. I prefer more private seating, which in other coffee houses I've been to has been accomplished with the judicious use of plants or high-backed chairs. The biggest component of the crowded seating is due to students from Springhill College across the street. Today, for instance, my husband and I were unable to find any seating at all. Even on the days when we can find seating, being entirely surrounded by people working quietly on their laptops feels awkward and lends a library-like feel to the atmosphere. It feels rude to have a conversation at a regular level. I feel like I'm intruding. I don't know how a coffee shop should handle this conundrum, as it's really not good business practice to limit customers' time while there, or to turn away clientele, even in an attempt to please all of their customers. There is already a back room which seems to be an unofficial space dedicated to students, but the overflow still takes up much of the cafe. That said, I enjoy Carpe Diem and going there is a nice little treat. I would definitely recommend it.

My daughter and I had breakfast here today and I can't express enough how much I enjoy their menu…read more She had never been to the Redbar before, and had also never had a crumpet. So it was doubly pleasing to be able to introduce her to this pleasing restaurant with its eclectic cuisine. The breakfast menu is what usually draws my attention. Served anytime, not just normal breakfast hours, a customer can choose between crumpets, omelettes, french toast, or just the usual bacon and eggs. I usually order one of their crumpets, but today, chose their Loaded Omelette with cheese grits. More like a purée, the grits were superb, creamy and buttery. My omelette was delivered spicy and hot. Giving my daughter a taste we soon concluded that the sausage used reminded us of the blood sausage we have enjoyed for breakfast in Peru, when we travel there to visit my wife's family. This is certainly not a typical omelette for Mobile, Alabama. My only complaint about it is that it was slightly overcooked and dry. Nevertheless, it was very tasty. My daughter had the Fried Egg and Cheese Crumpet, that she reported to be delicious. A mix-up on my drink order brought me a Turkish coffee rather than a Turkish latte, and suspiciously weak to be considered Turkish. I suspect that the cashier heard "Turkish", but not "latte", and confused, may have decided to see if a regular Americano would pass as an acceptable substitute. Except for the jolt I was expecting to receive, from the latte I ordered, it was acceptable. I am eager to return again to try one of their "Build Your Own Smashburger." Until then I will continue to hold the opinion that I have yet to have a disappointing meal at the RedBar, and I rest assured that my meal on that day will be equally satisfying.

I have tried the stuffed mushroom, Shepards pie and a burger and all were fantastic. For a side I had the sweet potato casserole and it was ok, not my favorite as I found the potatoes to be slightly undercooked for my liking. Other than that every thing was amazing. The stuffed mushroom with balsamic reduction probably my favorite. Prices are really good too. The dining tables are old window with mason jars to drink from adding to the uniqueness. Will be back really soon.

I wanted to get some breakfast and I heard about this place but I don't remember who brought it up…read more I didn't know what to order but I decided to get the loaded breakfast sandwich. I ordered mine as a biscuit with a sausage patty and cheddar cheese. My order was a pick up and it didn't take long for it to be ready. One note: the Google maps gps tells you to turn on McFarland to get to the restaurant but that goes to another building. You should stay on Cottage Hill and turn left just after you cross McFarland. When I entered the restaurant a woman greeted me and told her that I had an online order. There was another woman in, I believe, the kitchen area. They were very helpful. They explained that if I ordered on their site or app that the biscuits are always $5 on Friday. I ordered from Yelp which in turn directed me to DoorDash. That was great to know. When I got home the biscuit was still warm. It looked amazing. It's sort of a square shape. Anyway, it was delicious. The patty sausage was amazing. The biscuit was fluffy and light. The cheese and egg were situated perfectly on the biscuit as well. I enjoyed it. I want to come back and really experience the biscuits or other bread with the honey butter. I would definitely recommend the loaded breakfast sandwich.
