They inspected the system, and the technician could not have been better! Smart, communicated well, and never tried to "upsell". I highly recommend Dr. Cool!!!!

Not even a month later the same unit was leaking again and this time I was told the unit was not mounted correctly which was causing the unit to leak again. Not sure how the unit would suddenly become incorrectly mounted and I thought it should have been caught the first time. It wasn't and it cost me an additional $400. And to make matters worse, I bought into the service agreement for $400 after the first repair. So no, I don't recommend them.

I have had an Annual service contract with Lever Repairs since 2018…read more Recently during my annual service Ed found that the circuitboard was not working. He explained it to me and quoted me a cost. The impressive part of the story was that the temperature had been in the mid 70s for a week but it was predicted that the day after Thanksgiving it would drop dramatically. Ed Lever asked if he could install the new circuit board at 4 o'clock on the night before Thanksgiving! My family was pleased at his concern for me. Also, I'm new to the south and my first year here I noticed that the air conditioner would not shut off. Ed was here within two hours only to tell me that because of the steady heat outside my unit could not keep up but there was nothing wrong with system. He didn't charge me because apparently that was part of my service contract. That impressed me! A great business ethic.

We had a very bad experience with Southern Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning.  It is our feeling…read morethat we were defrauded by the owner Claude McAlhany, who is also the technician that came out.  Our air conditioner stopped working on Labor Day weekend.   Claude came out and claimed to have added 13 lbs of freon at a cost of $1950.  It did not fix the problem.  He came back the next day and said the control board had to be replaced and charged us an additional $2,075 for replacing it.  This also did not fix the problem. When we called Claude back, his son texted us that his father had a heart attack and was at a hospital in Columbia.  I have no idea if this is true, but it seems suspect, as he clearly had no intention of coming back to fix our unit.  We then called Aptus HVAC.  The technician informed us that our air conditioning unit could only hold around 7lbs of freon and there is NO WAY it could hold even close to the 13lbs for which we were charged.  He also said that the control board was NOT new and had about 4 years of dust on it.  Needless to say, we were devastated that we had clearly been taken advantage of.  Aptus went into the attic - something Claude never did - and replaced the motor at a cost of $450.00.  We called Claude back and told him what we learned about the work he did.  He was defensive and said that we don't know what we are talking about.  He said that the unit may take 7 lbs. but we have to account for the coils and the piping to the house.  We did our research on our unit and learned that standard R-410A systems require about 0.6 ounces of extra refrigerant per foot of copper piping over the standard 15 feet. To need an extra 5.6 pounds, our indoor and outdoor units would have to be roughly 160 feet apart. This is incredibly rare for a residential home and especially for a home of our size, which is only 2100 SF.  We were clearly taken advantage of and overcharged.  When we asked about the control board, he claimed that maybe the box was open and that it might have gotten dusty sitting in his truck or that it got about four years of dust in the 4 days between when he installed it and Aptus came out.  His theories are not credible.  I should have verified if he was licensed before we hired him.  After the fact, I could find no record of him being licensed with the State of South Carolina, Charleston County or the town of Mount Pleasant.  When asked on the phone if he was licensed, his response was "Here is my license number, kiss my ass".  He then texted and said "don't ever contact me again".  Later that night he attempted to explain the 13lbs of freon with some shots of a Google search - but the data he provided was on a much larger unit than we own.  When I pointed that out - he went silent again.  I don't really understand how he thought he could get away with so brazenly ripping us off.  Maybe he saw two older people and thought we wouldn't figure it out. In any case, use caution and do your homework if you hire Southern Seasons.
