Came here hoping to get some pants taken in after having recently lost weight & not wanting to give up good slacks. I did some research, and after seeing the reviews decided to come here! I've never been so disappointed. I immediately felt like I was annoying the man the minute I walked in. Keep in mind I am very aware of being polite, greeting, explaining what I needed, and not having a problem with being told I'd need to wait. What I do have a problem with is being made to feel like I'm bothering this man when I'm trying to bring him some business. I waited about 10 minutes, to see if maybe I'd just caught him at a bad time, etc. Nope. This man just truly made me feel like I was bothering him. I gathered my items and left. I'll continue my pursuit of finding a good local tailor. I love places that give me a sense of community, and this was simply not it. read more

Cost me $18 to fix the dress pants. When I came back to pick it up, it was right length that I asked for. But there was accidental scissor cut pretty big wholes on the right thigh area when I tried it on. I politely told them about it since I haven't seen before and the lady who cropped the pants said it needs to be fixed by needle by hand not machine. The gentleman who greeted me were trying to smooth the atmosphere but she seemed busy so I just left. I had to go back home to fix that 2 wholes myself. I'm not sure about recommending this place just because of uncomfortable situation. read more

It was wonderful to find a shop to bring our broken clothing to and have them beautifully fixed. My girlfriend's tactical work pants frequently get holes and they patched them up in a very durable but subtle way. We also had a zipper fixed that our dog chewed off and the zipper on a pair of jeans. The man said "we can fix pretty much anything" and then they did. Coming out of a pandemic it seems like everybody needs their clothing altered. No judgement. Lol. This place has an excellent tailoring and alteration service. I have had them alter high-quality suits to thick motorcycle pants. You absolutely cannot tell where the alterations were and clothing articles are as good as anything you would buy on the rack. My only complaint would be is they are very busy and it can take some time to get your item back. Pretty typical of a small quality business but with that said they are very mindful if you have a specific date or special event you need your item. They even have a little bird thats enjoyable to visit. We need more businesses like this. Reuse and don't consume. read more

Newt's tailor shop is a journey to a time where things were simpler and people were kinder. I was in need of a pair of pants to be taken in for a suit that I wanted to wear to a funeral that was out of town. To make matters worse I was leaving in just 2 days time. Newt greeted me and I was measured in minutes. The pants were ready the next day and the price was very reasonable. They even have a talking parrot that says " thank you" after you pay! I brought in an old blazer that my mom gave me but it had some tears. The blazer really meant a lot to me coming from my mom. They fixed up my blazer perfectly. Went to pick up a suit on the way to a wedding. The man I spoke to guaranteed I could pick it up that morning. Showed up, shop was empty. Called, no answer. Had to dig out an old suit at the last minute. The man called and asked if the wedding happened and told him yes, I was at the wedding. He apologized profusely because he'd stepped out when I came to pick up. He said there would be no charge when I picked up. Went to pick it up and the man demanded $84. Charlie is so sweet and did his best to help with my off shaped items. I brought in two compression garments to be altered, which had very specific requirements. I had to go into the shop multiple times for sizing purposes because I had dropped off the garment while the alterations woman wasn't there. However, they were able to stitch up both of my garments perfectly. She was very thoughtful and double stitched the seams she worked on (some ended up popping about 2 months later). I was charged $30 per garment, which may have been a little steep. I love the old school vibes here and the authentic appreciation for their customers here. Giving a 4 star as i have not yet picked up the clothes I took in for altering. One thing I will tell you is they ask for payment when you drop off your items not when you pick them up. I thought this was odd as you are paying for a service before you receive the service. Maybe they have had issues with others not paying or something. I had a wedding dress made from scratch and wasn't 100% satisfied (the pop up wedding was 1 week away) and I wasn't sure what about the dress I wasn't happy with. I just moved to Henderson and I am still trying to find all the services I need from new businesses. I lost 30-pounds during the pandemic (never got Covid) , by changing my eating habits. I started buying new pants that would not fall off my butt. I needed to get my new pants slightly altered. I found Newt's. It is an old-world tailor shops--very professional run by people who have been in the business for a long period of time. They make cloths to order and everything that was hanging for pick-up looked great. My alteration were done on time, inexpensive and were perfect both times I had work done. If you like parrots--they have one. The shops bird's name is Peach and while not that friendly, he talks and thanks you on the way out. read more

Probably the only place in Henderson where you can get a super 150 suit that actually fits right (they tailor to the point that you can't tell they are off the rack) for under $1k. Way better deal and quality than Indochino or the big stores at the mall. The best part is that they won't sell you something you shouldn't buy - not like the pressure at a certain warehouse for men. I was looking for a dependable place to get my wedding dress and my maid of honor's dress altered. One of my friend recommended this place since she used it in the past and she said service was good (later learned that it was a simple hem). The husband and wife are friendly, and they have a cute doggy named Lily. But that's about it. The work is...not that of a 'MASTER TAILOR' as noted on her business cards. The MOH dress was promised to be done a certain day, but when we arrived, we found out that the dress has not been worked on. Dress and ribbon was still in its original form as when we first dropped it off. Newt clearly didn't write down the details of what needed to be done during the consultation. On top of that, I had prepaid for all the work that needs to be done! So anyways, we came back a week later to pick it up. Incompetency was revealed when we asked for a particular spot to be hemmed, she quickly said that she couldn't do it. Now onto my wedding dress. The day came for me to come by to try it on. Well, after I put it on, there was a 'pouch.' We asked Newt if she can get rid of the 'pouch' since it was definitely not me having the pouch. She said no she cannot. Incompetency #2 was revealed then. Are you freakin' kidding me? A week until my wedding and I am stuck with this unflattering dress and a so called Master Tailor can't do a damn thing about! My MOH came to the rescue. She called her tailor, referred me, I walked in, less than a week later, I had a custom fitted dress that doesn't have a pouch. It was the same dress that Newt cannot altered, but Almasa at Europin was able to work her magic. Conclusion: Tailors should be certified before they can use "Master Tailor." In this case, I will never ever go back to Newts for anything. read more
