To be honest, I had no clue what I was in for. Afterwards, I felt as if I achieved nirvana. I felt calm and relaxed, almost to the point of a high-like state. They have a retail area with the products they've carried for years plus baked goods, juices, etc. They have some tables set up both inside and outside, too. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. When I attended the grand opening, I was able to purchase 30 days of unlimited classes at a significantly discounted price. I live nearby and they offer a variety of classes so I jumped at the opportunity to check it out. I've taken yogalates and tabata so far and both were great. The instructors are super helpful and encouraging. Fresh Jax is such an asset to this part of town. I feel like places like this typically open out at the beach or in Riverside but I'm so glad we have this gem on the southside.

There were three extra fees that I don't remember from last time: A 4% credit card fee. They mentioned the menu prices were for cash, but didn't say the amount of the credit card fee. Most people will miss the mention anyway. Given that most people don't pay with cash these days, it's just a way of misleadingly charging higher prices than those listed on the menu. They also charged $6 to split a dish. I've heard of split fees, of course, and my wife and I always share food, since she doesn't eat a lot, but I think this is the first time I've actually been charged for it. Finally, they charged $2 to add a house salad to an entree; I believe it was included last time. The bread was still included this time, but limited to two slices per person; it's generally unlimited. All these things left a bad taste in my mouth, and make me think of awarding the restaurant 2 stars (below average) instead of 3. Also, the waiter never mentioned dessert prices. I wish they were on the main dinner menu, but there wasn't any dessert menu. He just brought over dessert samples and we chose. We may try this place again, but probably when prices are lower: lunch or daily hour. The latter has $7-11 apps. Some other recommended dishes here are parmigiana, pizza, and tiramisu.
