The owners are passionate about their mission and so dang nice that you'll be on cloud nine after visiting the space. All of their food is organic and vegan; basically food that you can feel good about! No artificial preservatives, what you see is what you get. My recommendations are the Acai Berry Blast smoothie and the Bliss Bowl, which is spicy tofu deliciousness! I took my first ever yoga class at Fresh Jax. To be honest, I had no clue what I was in for. Afterwards, I felt as if I achieved nirvana. I felt calm and relaxed, almost to the point of a high-like state. For newbies like myself, Fresh Jax has my stamp of approval! Although, they do offer advanced classes for experienced yogis, too. Truly, an eye-opening experience. Fresh Jax is a great example of local. The owners have poured their hearts into an establishment that they feel passionately about. From their variety of fresh organic food and smoothie selection, to their yoga classes. Each of their smoothie and food options are made from ingredients fresh from local farms. I had the opportunity to sample each of their smoothies, and all were delicious and healthy. Eating great food with no guilt, I'm sold! I also had the opportunity to attend one of their yoga classes. My first visit was a part of a Yelp event. This is a healing haven on the cusp of busy Jacksonville. They've been in business for about 7 months but participated in RAM for years. They offer yoga fitness classes( several types including prenatal, gentle, restorative, etc) , cooking classes, and a 100% vegan and gluten free cafe. We got a little lesson on the history of yoga from our instructor, Emily, which made the whole experience even more amazing and educational. I genuinely felt that everyone here was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They talked about their desire to be completely farm to table and the steps they took to ensure their goals will be met. A favorite part, something that really sets them apart from all studios I've been to, was the absence of mirrors in the yoga room. This resulted in a class where I was more focused on the way my body felt as opposed to how it looked. They are focusing on body and mind positivity and the choice to not have mirrors facilitates an environment of peace and focus. Fresh Jax has been a fixture at RAM and other markets in the area for years now. Their retail space/yoga studio has recently opened and offers a lot. I attended their grand opening and was able to check out the store and studio that day. The yoga studio is huge and their entire staff was super friendly and helpful. They have a retail area with the products they've carried for years plus baked goods, juices, etc. They have some tables set up both inside and outside, too. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. When I attended the grand opening, I was able to purchase 30 days of unlimited classes at a significantly discounted price. I live nearby and they offer a variety of classes so I jumped at the opportunity to check it out. I've taken yogalates and tabata so far and both were great. The instructors are super helpful and encouraging. Fresh Jax is such an asset to this part of town. I feel like places like this typically open out at the beach or in Riverside but I'm so glad we have this gem on the southside. read more

I don't know whether to start with food or yoga. I started attending classes two weeks ago. I have attended classes most days. I have attended Gentle yoga with Cheryl and Emily, Kripalu with Lisa, Yoga basics with Tru, and Yin Yoga with Bridgid. The classes vary in difficulty but all are challenging in their own way. There are morning and evening classes available as well as educational workshops. The instructors are all knowledgeable in different ways and bring something different their classes. There are various props available for sale and provided during class. Cheryl is so delightful. Her class is the best way to start a Monday. I can't help but smile when she takes us through breathing exercises. Bridgid teaches like a classroom teacher. When I leave her class (which is extremely difficult for monkey brain people like me) I feel like I have learned a tremendous amount of information. Lisa teaches a more challenging class, but she has a way of talking you through poses in a way that helps you accomplish feats you never thought you could. I feel fantastic when I leave here every day. Now food. Omg that Thanksgiving bowl!!!! There are few things as comforting as that warm bowl of roasted autumn goodness. I have enjoyed most of the food I have had there. The pumpkin pie yoga bar was quite a treat, and I don't even like pumpkin! The nacho dip is good that I am a repeat buyer, and I don't even like spicy food. Overall, this studio is a great place refresh and nourish your mind, body and soul. Stopped in for lunch because of the vegan options. This is a new diet for me and it's hard for me to find things I like. I live in NJ and discovered their spices through a friend who ordered an assorted set on Amazon. I fell in love with the Sriracha salt which I use all the time on avocado. It's not hot like traditional Sriracha but adds amazing flavor. Since then, I've expanded and have also fell in love with the Ghost Pepper salt (hottttt) and the Greek seasoning (excellent when combined into orzo with spinach and feta). Even if you don't spot it on the T-shirts displayed prominently in its dining room, it's hard to overlook the mission of the Baymeadows area's new FreshJax: "Love Yourself with Food & Yoga." Depending on the time of day, chances are you won't know whether you're in a petite eatery or a yoga studio. The health-focused hybrid, opened in May by husband-and-wife team Jason and Hillary McDonald just east of the I-295 East Beltway, is equally devoted to both. The entry leads you into the café and retail store chock-full of natural foods--many from FreshJax's own house brand--and yoga gear. Head straight back toward the kitchen and hang a right, and you'll find the roomy studio, which boasts a seven-day schedule of morning, lunchtime and evening yoga and fitness classes for a range of ability levels. Individual classes start at $16 and numerous packages are available. Food-wise, the FreshJax café offers a variety of soups, salads, smoothies, hot tea, hot- and cold-brew coffee, and baked goods, all made on premises with ingredients locally sourced, and with no shortage of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Menus generally rotate weekly, and quinoa and tofu are staples. The kitchen recently started a weekday hot lunch service from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you miss the window for the hot lunch, you can pick it up from the chilled case and ask them to heat it up for you. Your dine-in seating is limited to a few patio tables, or an eight-seat community table inside. Log your order at the counter, and in most cases you'll carry your meal from there. Hot-lunch entrees are brought to your table. My friend and I took the latter for a test drive on a recent Thursday dinner time. The dining room felt like a bustling airport terminal, with rolled yoga mats the preferred carry-on item. Since hot meal time was long past, we headed to the baked goods display case and refrigerator to construct our grab-and-go feasts. My friend's Thai Coconut Quinoa Tofu ($6) was a flavorful, slightly smoky mix of those staples with chunks of broccoli and carrots. The hearty blend gave a spicy kick at the end. Next up was her Toasted Sesame Rice Noodle Salad ($5), an assemblage of crisp veggies, field greens and thin noodles punctuated by fresh basil and peanut with a tangy dressing that gave the bowl a pleasing zing. My Roasted Three-Pepper Quinoa ($4 large, or $2.50 for a small container), served cold, featured plenty of diced peppers and very strong hints of celery, but it still needed some major flavor enhancement to win my praise. The Baked Buffalo Tofu ($5) filled that gap with small, firm cubes of lightly spiced tofu, producing a light, innocuous spicy bite on the tip of the tongue. Days later I ventured back to try the daily hot lunch special, a Tofu Scramble served over a biscuit ($6). While the tofu crumbles weren't as large as what you might get with scrambled eggs, the diced bell pepper and onion gave the plate great color, texture and a light flavor over the pair of dense, open-faced biscuit slices. All FreshJax baked goods are egg-, dairy- and gluten-free. My friend's Blueberry Cornbread ($2) was a pleasantly dense, moist and not-so-crumbly slice of goodness. My Double Dark Chocolate Strawberry Cookie ($2.50) was a chewy, fudgy sphere that worked well on its own but begged to be served warm and a la mode (I thought it bad form to ask for a dollop of vanilla ice cream). Overall, FreshJax's café offerings are similar to what you'd find at other local natural/healthy food outlets like Native Sun Natural Foods Market, Grassroots Natural Market and Kathy's Table. The food-plus-fitness marriage--all under one roof--is a novel and intriguing combination that should attract a following. I wish I could rate them 6 stars! What a wonderful little haven. I had passed by the store front a number of times but finally decided to try one of their monthly free yoga intro workshops. I have had an on and off relationship with Yoga for years but had been in need of a new studio. I loved it from the moment I walked it! and after class signed up for their monthly membership. $69 a month for unlimited classes- that's AMAZING! I have tried classes with most if not all of the instructors- I love them all. Similar vibe, very knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging- can't ask for anything more. They all have their own takes on things but again- all great! Classes are relatively small and the space is great. Not to mention, they have props galore! And as if that isn't enough, they also have food and will have things ready for you when class is over! If you are even the slightest bit curious- go check them out! Amazing place for health conscious people!!! The place is filled with love and good vibration and their food is extremely delicious and coming from a real healthy source! I eat gluten- lactose- gmo- and sugar free and I am vegan as well, so for me eating out has been always difficult, but here in FreshJax I found everything what I wished for, the selection of their food was more than superb! I had the opportunity to check this place out over the weekend and I am really digging it. The concept behind this business is wonderfully simple. Self-care from head to toe inside and out. Yoga is not just about being bendy, and it's not some weight loss fad. It's about moving the body, engaging the muscles we don't generally use as often as we should through daily movements. It focuses on slowing down and tuning in to our bodies, clearing the mind and letting go of that rush rush rush mentality we seem to fall into. I like the set up of their yoga studio with a high ceiling, calming mint green and white paint tones and a very comfortable temperature. The yoga basics class I attend was well paced and very informative. I would have liked to see however the instructor or an assistant walk through periodically and offer one on one tips if they see someone struggling with a pose. Especially for beginners I feel it's helpful. But I will ask for tips on my next visit. Because oh yes there will be more visits to come.Their schedule for classes ranges from Yoga Basics to an early Sunrise Workout, Yin Yoga,Yogi Abs, Kripalu Yoga,Restorative Yoga and many others.Think of all the fun you can have trying these out and finding what best fits your needs. I bought a couple of spice jars (ghost pepper salt and habanero pepper blend) from W/D and loved them. I looked them up on line and saw they had a store here in southside. I finally got by there today (cause i ran out) and was greeted by a very nice lady but i didnt get her name and Austin who was helpful but not hovering. They had a special buy 4 get 1 free so I reupped on my salt and pepper and got some new ones to try. One thing that is great, is that they have shakers of the spices so you can try them right there. Austin said that if there is not a sample shaker to let him know and he would get one. I love that!! They are local, blend the spices in house, they are mainly, if not all organic and taste wonderful and clean. No reason not to at least try them. read more

This is my favorite place. When I open the door, the people behind the counter smile and make me feel welcome. They help me with everything from spices, to fruit bowls (so fresh and delicious) to the baked goods my husband insists on when ever I go there, to the hand-picked yoga teachers. This is such an up-lifting experience! Having taken several yoga classes I can tell you each is different, but the common theme is " how can I help you?" The other students range from stay-at-home moms, to young, older, military, professionals..., but they are all friendly and happy to share helpful information. Every experience I've had at Freshjax has been positive and welcoming! From the fitness/yoga instructors, to the staff and management, everyone has made me feel special and appreciated. All of the bakery items are fresh and delicious and they are always making new seasonal items. You would never know they are gluten free!! You have to try the peanut butter and tropical green smoothies. They are so yummy, creamy and satisfying. I really like the variety of healthy snacks. I always grab a bottle of the turmeric curry spice blend and the chili quinoa for nights I don't feel like "cooking". Every yoga class I've attended has been amazing. I've been attending classes 7-days a week. I do high intensity workouts 4x awk and restorative yoga sessions 3x awk. It's a brilliant program - if you're into fitness you know how important it is to stretch, but honestly very few of us actually do it on our own. Here's the place to get it all in!! Attending FreshJax classes has made a tremendous difference in my mobility and flexibility - I'm feeling less arthritic discomfort in my wrists and hips, after only 30-days. Jason and Hillary are genuine, caring, and educated business owners. We have been enjoying their products from the beginning when they first introduced their delicious hot sauces. All of the products they have added are high quality and very tasty. Some of our favorites are the chipotle lime cashews, Everything hot sauce, the energy bars, the amazing gluten- free cookies, tofu scramble seasoning, and the maple cinnamon seasoning. I have enjoyed Hillary's yoga classes in the park and at their special events. She is a gentle, smart teacher who made me feel at ease, comfortable, and happy. We have been eagerly anticipating their new storefront and were so happy to be there on opening day. The yoga studio looks spacious, warm and inviting, and the café/ smoothie bar is so cool and cute. We enjoyed several smoothies and delicious gluten-free baked goods. The peanut butter bars with blueberries on top were especially awesome. I love all of the little extras that you can pick up from their retail area such as Five Points candles to aromatherapy oils. Fresh Jax is a wonderful company and a great asset to Jacksonville.
