Medium Combination, with Red Sauce, extra mozzarella and ground beef
    Steve D.

Fresh pizza, delivered HOT in the City of Alameda. That's what I got on a cool Sunday evening. I had a $10 credit on my Seamless App, so I used it on a Medium Combination Pizza with Extra Mozzarella and extra ground beef. Whoa, what a nice combo pizza! I added extra mozzarella to insure it had a creamy blanket of cheese. Last time there wasn't enough cheese. The extra ground beef was there to balance any salty pepperoni. Now, I don't know if this is legit New York style pizza. My friend in NYC says ONLY pizza made in New York can be a NY Pizza. According to him, there's no transplants. But this is a good combo pizza. NY Pizza uses their own drivers, so you don't pay any extra service fees. Seamless gave me free delivery. So you just pay for the pizza, sales tax, and tip. Cheaper if you order directly. New York Pizza is at 1528 Park St, between Lincoln & Webb.

I was glad to hear that New York Pizza delivers without having to go through Door Dash or GrubHub service. This would have been a good option had the pizza been good. Their combo didn't have a lot of the toppings you would get in a typical combo and you can't fold it like a New York slice as the crust was thin but also stiff too. Also got some wings which i thought was better than the pizza but i specifically asked for the wings to be dry and with sauce on the side. Price for these items was like $50 which i thought was a little pricey. May need to go through Door Dash to get the pizza I want or drive myself.

I am a big fan of this pizza place! Pesto cheese pizza made fresh daily. I usually don't like too many toppings on my pizza, and so this one is perfect. The pizza isn't too cheesy or saucy, but the perfect balance. This place takes a little bit longer around 20 minutes for the pizza to come out, but it is well worth it!

2 lonely end pieces of tomato on a veggie pizza

It's OK. Atmosphere is not your typical warm and welcoming place to hang out. It was quiet with only the ceiling fan occasionally making a thumping sound as it spun. They had very few soda options (almost all of which only available in a 2 liter bottle). We opted for fountain sodas, but the machine looked old and falling apart. None of the soda brands were anything we've ever heard of. After we ordered and paid we never even got our drinks we had to ask for them. It was only then that they told us they had no diet soda. I don't know how you can have no idea that you have no diet soda in a fountain dispenser that is behind your register. So there was zero diet soda in the place unless you wanted a 2 liter. Anyways.... I originally wanted a slice of pizza but they had none ready. Bizarre because that's what they advertise. So we ordered a medium 14" veggie which was about $26. While it was not bad, it was definitely not what I expected for New York style. I wanted that thin, crispy crust. It was more like doughy bread. I wanted extra sauce, if it was there it wasn't evident. But what took away stars for me was the total lack of tomatoes, and overkill on the olives. It was like he ran out of tomatoes and thought he could get away with not cutting more. (See pic for our 2 end pieces of tomato on pizza). And wheres the mushrooms? Overall, just meh, and probably not going to come back. If they ever do have pizza by the slice, I would try that instead. It seems to look more like NY style, large thin slices, than the whole pizzas.

There's something about their cornmeal crust I absolutely love. The pizza is light, crispy, and just a nice pie overall :) I didn't know they had lunch specials (personal deep dish or thin crust) and side mixed or Caesar until 3p. They also have a weekly happy hour from 3p-5:30p with cocktail/food/beer and wine discounts. Space is huge and super aesthetically pleasing. I believe the building was once an old bank now converted. Met the hostess and were seated immediately. Place was small (about 10 tables) and quaint. Waiter approached us within 5 minutes and asked if we wanted drinks. We told him that we drink cabernet sauvignon and asked for his recommendation. He came back with two glasses of Montepulciano wine that was rich, bold and fruity. The waiter gave us ample time to enjoy our wine. When the waiter came back, we ordered a Caesar salad to share. My wife was admiring the pizza on the table next to us and ordered the same. Withing a couple of minutes we received our salad. It was a nice size enough to have a second helping. The romaine lettuce was crispy and fresh with parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons and a creamy Caesar dressing. Lets just say we cleaned our plates. Once we were done our pizza came and it was piping hot. It was a 14' pizza that had mozzarella, basil pepperoni and a nice crispy crust. I am a fan of New York pizza because it's thin and I can fold it in half to enjoy. This pizza did not disappoint nice chewy cheese, salty and oily pepperoni, fresh basil, chewy middle and crispy crush. My wife and I were hungry but could only finish two pieces each and brought the other four slices home. The waiter asked if we wanted dessert and we said we better be good but ordered two more glasses of wine. While we were enjoying our wine table next to us receive their dessert. I looked over and had to make a comment that you must be heaven because the tiramisu looked so good. The lady was so nice and cut a piece of her dessert and gave it to us to try. We tried denying it but she was persistent. Boy she was right creamy, soft spongy lady fingers coco and a sprinkle of expresso. After that we introduced ourselves and made new friends. Great ambiance, food, and service. We'll be back!

First, this is a virtual brand and not a ghost kitchen. This is simply a real business selling pizzas over delivery apps. For some reason, they're using this crazy name. I ordered a medium "Mushroom & Sausage" Pizza. Then I added Pepperoni and more Mozzarella Cheese. Price $18.95. That's a medium pizza with 4 toppings. It was hellya good! It had my basic requirement for a good pizza....a thick blanket of cheese. Crust was soft, but lightly crispy. Even with pepperoni and sausage, it was not overly salty. It was just a good pizza, at a fair price.

Mama's Boy has some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. The cheese and mushroom pizza was incredible, and the pepperoni was just as good. The garlic knots were top-notch too. The pizza had absolutely no flop, the crust was cooked perfectly, and the undercarriage was exactly how a great pizza should be. Crispy, flavorful, and just perfect all around. I really don't think you could ask for a better pizza. I'm shocked to see any one-star reviews because my experience was completely different. If you know good pizza, you need to give Mama's Boy a try. Parking can be a little challenging, but we found a spot and it was well worth it. Don't let the Oakland location discourage you either--the area around the restaurant was fine during our visit. If you're anywhere near the area, this is a MUST-TRY. I will absolutely be making the drive back again. Highly recommended!

Finally got to try this Cali version of NY Pizza. I prefer these thin and crisp styles of pizzas…read moreover any other style...over deep dish, Detroit, suburban medium crust and even Neapolitan. Straight preference. Upon walking in this hole in the wall urban space I knew it was going to be decent to special. First no frills look, nothing fancy or hip, just a utilitarian vibe, where even though we don't have a subway system, it feels like one could have gotten off a train and straight into this store once you hit street level. The smell of NY style pizza also is thick in the air, the smell of baked yeast mingling with a melding of tomato sauce and sparse cheese. And this was all before I even received and/or tasted a slice. Pizzas by slice can be had, they have about 6 you can choose from. They par bake whole pies and just reheat the slices, which is super legit. That reheating makes a slice more crisp, which I tend to swoon for. And if you get it in slice form, it will get handed to you within 5 minutes. You can get whole pies here and I'm sure those are better called in as you can use your travel time as the wait time. Cheese Slice ($5/4.5*) Perfectly thin and crisp. And the sauce and cheese is so sparse and in balance that it won't weigh that thin crust down at all. The cheese is so sparse that there will be no cheese pull, which I think Californians don't understand/prefer. Cept I love it cuz it isn't as rich and oily. I do kinda wish the sauce had more umph but after a sprinkle of oregano and red pepper flakes, it turns out just fine. I also think the outer edge of the crust is a bit too big and tough, like you really have to chew that mofo. But I like to roll my slices so that crust is intergrated with the rest so it balances everything out nicely. And I ate this in one hand as I roamed the streets of Uptown. The crisp bites, the tomato and light cheese tandem all mingled with urban city air and just made perfect sense. Pepperoni ($5.50/4*) They use good quality pepperoni, small but thick slices. Definitely makes it greasier which may make this a one and done for me. Wish I could have added mushrooms to this to balance it out more, cuz as is, is just too salty and one note for me. But to a basic bish pepperoni eater, this should fit the bill just fine. But I'll round up to a fiver cuz we simply don't have many of these out here, so to offer this within my reach is quite the lucky circumstance. Gotta give them props on making my bar hopping for this area much more complete and complimentary. Hells ya!
