I regret buying the $500 painting from Suzie @ the Poppy Festival several years ago and finally taking her up on experiencing her salon. Every time I look at the painting I cherished, I'm reminded of the trust I wrongfully put into these New Waves "professionals" and how I was taken advantage of during this pandemic. It is truly sad when a beauty school will move heaven & Earth to bring back your signature look, while both Carla and Suzie acted insulted and snobby because they think their professional opinion outranks what a customer actually wants. If you have time, money, and energy to burn in playing a stupid, catty, political war, by all means, go here. If you just want what you paid for and to be taken seriously, try anywhere else for a hair dye job. *$140 to Carla to get my hair different shades of brown because she had to mix the red color (it wasn't in her book), didn't face the chair to the mirror the entire time (so I couldn't see what she was doing, but I kept trying to convince myself to trust her since she's a "professional"), and told me to "just wash it a few times" in response to me telling her my desired red against the black "didn't pop as much as I had expected it to" when we were finally done and I could look in the mirror (I didn't want to argue or be disrespectful with her in public, as her other coworkers and clients were sitting nearby, no good deed goes unpunished)... I trusted her enough to work with her on correcting it, but she got frustrated and "insulted" very fast, abusing her power during a pandemic to somehow put me in my place or teach me a lesson. *Any other hairstylist at New Waves was afraid to touch me because "I was Carla's." *Suzie "backs up her girls" and "had to go back to her client." *$150 to the beauty school to bleach my hair and semi-permanently dye it red and black, like I originally wanted to a point where I felt I could leave the house again and not be embarrassed (brown/black hair makes me look like a hag, and the purpose of dying my hair was to feel good about myself enough again to continue helping the community during a world crisis). *Putting myself even more at risk during a pandemic, in the name of beauty, by seldom washing my hair to preserve semi-permanent color + using cold water in winter with Raynaud's + using expensive Redken + lowest setting on flat iron, all while being an essential worker on a fixed income. *~$150 to the beauty school to permanently dye and bring back my 2-tone signature look a month later, but the pandemic forced a shutdown. *Federal gov't forcing my credit card's hand into not accepting anything other than a miracle letter from the closed beauty school, stating that they corrected it, in order to get my $140 back from unethical, unprofessional, and greedy Carla/New Waves. *~$450 total eaten cost when all is said and done, to correct my hair and bring back my look, when it should have just been a one-time ~$150 to the appropriate professionals who do actually care about their customers and clients.
Rebecca Lorraine is AMAZING! I did a black blue color and not only am I so pleased with the results of the color/cut. She was so sweet and welcoming the entire time! I would HIGHLY recommend Rebecca! I will for sure be bringing back my daughter for a cut! THANK YOU REBECCA!

I was in need of a root touch up from my so called balyage and called around to get a last minute appointment and I was recommended to Denise who I have to say was such a pleasure to be around and on top of it highly skilled in her profession of a hairstylists!! She sprinkled her magic on my orange toned balyage and got me back to a beautiful beige blonde. I highly recommend her you wont be disappointed. I finally found my new hairdresser. Thank you Denise for your accommodations to me today!!! See you in 4 weeks
Me and my daughter enjoy getting our nails done together but we didn't like any of the artists we met with until we met Amy at New Wave Salon. She is friendly, fun to chat with, and I love the fair price. I personally do a lot of manual labor with my hands and my nails by Amy hold up against all damage. I would always break my nails before seeing Amy and now a break is pretty rare. I need a lot of waxing done as well and I've been seeing Carol over at New Wave for years now. Well.. i had high hopes for this place since it seems to have pretty good reviews. I got my nails done here on dec 24th by Rita my appointment was at 4:30 but i showed up about 30mins early. I told them no rush since i was half an hour early. I showed her the picture i wanted done and she said she could do it. We get done about 6 pm and at point I'm asking her about the staining on my skin and she said it would come off in a few wash's odd as I've never been stained before in all the years I've been getting my nails done but hey it's Christmas Eve I'll take her word for it. A few hours later I'm brushing my teeth before bed and one just pops off. Confused as how this just happens cuz they are brand new and it didn't hurt at all. I sit there and decide to reach out after Christmas for a fix as i didn't want to bug her over a nail on Christmas. I call on the 26th and she tells me to come in and she'll fix it , i do she she redoes the nail and tells me it takes 24 hours for the glue to dry ( never had to wait 24 hours before for the glue to dry) As i get home 2 more pop off and since that day all my nails just pop off. As I'm eating, driving ,anything that wouldn't warrant one to just pop off. I try calling her to come in and have her remove the rest and get a refund but no answer so i leave and message and it's been 3 days with no reply. I tried calling her one last time today before going to the salon in person and one ring then voicemail . So i go to the salon and ask for her they kindly informed me that i just missed her. And then ask if I have tiny nail beds and that's the reason they are Popping off. For one I've been getting my nails done for years and NEVER have them just pop off especially when they are brand new. Secondly do no lie and make up excuses for poorly done nails. And since it seems like she's dodging my calls i guess I'll have to dispute it with my bank. I HOPE the owner sees this review. In the morning I'll be filing a complaint with her. SAVE YOURSELF 50$ and get your nails done elsewhere
Had a pleasant experience. Everyone seemed friendly. Was there to get my nails done. Amy did a wonderful job. Best set I've ever had actually. I showed her a few nail ideas and she designed my set even better than I imagined. The place was clean and organized and well air conditioned. I Will definitely become a regular. Go packers! 10/7/17 ....Weeks later I'm super impressed! Not one lift, not one chip or break off!
This is one of (if not THE only) full service salons of this size in the AV. I grew up here and this salon has been here as long as I can remember caring about where I get my hair done. WHENEVER I roll back in to town I go to Erica Ayala ( www.ericaayala.com ) who has always kept my color or cut looking FABULOUS and does EXACTLY what I ask for. She is honest and if you take her a picture of what you want she is knowledgeable experienced and talented enough to explain to you if that look will work on you or not, and why. Shouldn't EVERY stylist be that way? You can slip in some waxing, facials or mani-pedi action at New Waves as well, but seriously, I feel like a supermodel when I walk out after a style by Erica, so what's the need?
I've had Amy doing my nails for almost 5 years, and I wouldn't trust anyone else in town to do them. She's a true artist who does amazing work. I always get compliments on my nails. She is professional and knowledgeable and very talented. I highly recommend her if you want awesome nails.
I was a little skeptical about taking my 15 year old daughter to get her hair cut and colored. She wanted a very dark red that you can only see the red in the sun. I was so scared my baby was going to walk out with bright red or purple hair. I couldn't even watch. I dropped her off w/ Marisa and told her just to call me when its all over. I am so happy with the outcome of her hair. Marisa did a fantastic job. Its the perfect color and it was cut to look nice and healthy again. Thank you Marisa, you did an outstanding job. I can see why you came highly recommend. My daughter loves her new dew..
I honestly have never been to a salon in my life so coming in here I was terrified but luckily Brett Moore my hair guru helped me out a lot . I came in after allowing a friend to bleach my hair crazy right ! And of course it was jacked up and Brett had to fix it . It took a couple sessions of course but the last session I'll never forget cause with help from Erica Ayala and Brett working together as a team my hair came out amazing! I'll definitely be coming back and recommending this spot to everyone I know !
I went and seen Yesenia at New Wave. She is really nice and was pretty easy to get ahold of to schedule an appointment and was happy enough to take my 190 for my hair. But I tried getting ahold of her for about two weeks now because My ashy blonde hair faded within the first week and I only washed it twice with purple Shampoo and a sulfate free shampoo and followed everything she said. I ask why it happened after texting her twice I FINALLY GOT A RESPONSE where she asked what shampoo I used I wrote her back And haven't even got a response. No offers to fix it or even an answer to the problem. I really liked her but this was a little ridiculous at least have a damn answer or offer for me to come in and see what we can do.

Wow wow wow I am so beyond pleased with this salon. I came in busted and came out serving!!! Pilar gave me a fresh color, removed all the damage that was weighing me down, and gave me a BOMB bob blowout. Another lovely woman did my waxing. I regrettably did not get her name, but she put more time and attention into my brows than I have ever gotten from a wax. I could tell they were both really working to style me and make sure I looked good and how I wanted to and I did not at all feel like I was just being given default service to get me in and out quickly. I feel like a whole new person and the vibes were IMMACULATE!! This salon not only deserves business but they absolutely deliver in quality, vibe, and also price!! Erica was the best, she totally fit me into her schedule while my other hairstylist has to book a month in advance. My 21st birthday was coming up so she was able to compromise an appropriate pricing and time for me. Erica gave me beautiful highlights and lightened up my hair since it's heavy and thick. I spent about three hours getting my hair washed, colored and styled. I think if you have a date at the hair salon, you just need to expect to make a block of time for it. I've read many of the reviews and I really appreciate Erica's time and patience. If you simply have specific request, you should make it known BEFORE you show up. She has 20 years of experience and it shows!! read more

I had a great experience at new wave salon! I got an ombré hair dye and I absolutely love it! I am very particular about my hair so I was tentative about getting it done at all, but I am so glad I did it because it looks great! Nancy did my hair and she was so sweet and easy to work with! I would definitely come back again! I'm usually not willing to spend $90 on my hair but I'm glad I did it this time! read more

My mom came here a few weeks ago and I loved her cut she got from Denise, so I was determined to book an appointment with her. I'm so glad I did!!!!! I showed her what I wanted and what I didn't want and she already had pictured it in her mind! I got my hair colored and cut and it was well worth it. She is the Picasso of hair and goes above and beyond to make her clients happy. I only waited my entire life for a stylist like her! This is a review for nails by Danielle. She is extremely talented and she is very young so don't be fooled! She was born with talent. You can ask her for prices and bring a picture of what you like and she can make it just how you like! She did everything I asked for and then some! I get my hair cut and colored by Ana Drenna. Ana not only has a reasonable price, she knows what looks good. I started going just for a cut, then had to start coloring it due to the grey. Yes that is how long I've been going to her, years. I come in for my appointment and don't even have to say anything. Ana knows how I want and what color looks good and does my hair so great I wish I could go see her everyday. I even got hit on after a cut. That was a nice bonus. New Waves is a great place to go to take a break, get your hair done, joke, gossip and take a few hours out of a busy day to let loose and have some fun. She cares for her clients and even bought me a soda and something to eat one time. She has become a friend and we even send funny pictures to each other. I hope she never moves from the AV. I would be lost without her and my hair would be also. read more

I won't post name but a stylist there did not do what i asked for and left several chemical burns on my head and said it was normal, I've been bleach and dying my hair for 15 years and have never had one chemical burn and I pod 375 bucks for chemical burns and hair that was not what I asked for I paid only 200 to get it fixed. Amazing!! Maribel did an amazing job with my nails, and went above and beyond the design I wanted for my nails!! I also had my 2 year old with me, I was worried he would be a problem, but the staff was very accommodating and friendly to him and made my trip possible! Definitely my new nail place read more
