I called ahead and was told Pray could do my hair same day. I waited about 40 mins then to help with timing another woman washed my hair. I didn't mind the wait but the wash was not very pleasant. Damon did a wonderful job on my hair. I had a trim done as well as flat twists. He definitely made me feel comfortable and he explained everything well. I was concerned about too much of my hair being trimmed but he reassured me only an inch would be cut and he did just that. The twists came out really nice. I love them. I highly recommend you book Damon. He's very talented, professional, and funny. This was my first time visiting The Hair Ward. Everyone is really nice. Robyn the owner answered all my emails inquiring about her services and did her best to accommodate for any inconveniences. I'll definitely be back. If I could give Nyhumi 0 stars I would. My son had an appointment with her at 12pm to get his hair braided and she came to ask him if it was washed and never came back out. I waited over 40mins and ended up leaving. Very unprofessional!!! Robyn your response is the reason she is very unprofessional. You were not present when she told my son she would be right back. I've never been to hair salon in the AV and found one with good reviews. I made an appointment with Robyn for 12 noon. I was 30 minutes late due to car trouble. When I walked in I wasn't greeted with a "hi or hello" but instead a "can I help you" with an attitude. I spoke with Robyn and I didn't book all of the services I actually needed which I do understand. She asked what my availability was I asked for today or next week which I didn't give an answer. She instead offered to see me that evening at 7:30 p.m. She then canceled the appointment an hour ahead which is fine. However, I believe if she was inundated with appointments she could have said that while I was there and had me book for another day instead of booking the day off and canceling. Better communication could have have gone a long way. I would have loved to try this salon but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The environment of the salon is relaxed and welcoming with a cuturally diverse staff. Donnetta was such a pleasant spirit with a warm personality. I was able to book a same day appointment indecisive about doing the big chop (cutting off all of my relaxed hair) or just a trim she reassured me that whichever I decided she could achieve and she did just that. I made an appointment with Pray twice and twice she did not show up. I am a senior citizen and it is so dificult for me to get around. I wanted starter locs. The first no show , she stated her baby was sick. The second no show, she stated that she would have never booked a 4:30 appointment. Needless to say , i ask for my deposit back and I went to my car and cried. I felt that she was unprofessional and uncaring. The shop manager was very nonchalant about everything, I did receive my money back, but I will never go back there. I read Robin's response, instead of trying to do damage control she is attacking my character. I was not aggressive and I like punctuality, hence Im always early for my appointments, and the other customer you wrote on, she was smpathetic with my situation, she told me " I hope you have a better day than what you experienced at the shop". I am 69 years old, I dont have to be aggressive with anyone. But you were running your mouth the entire time I set foot in the shop and oblivious to anyone , specifically me and any issues pertaining to my appointment (nonchalant). This review is for Pray who took us in as a walk in on a Friday morning. Came into town for a softball tournament for my daughter who wanted French braids for opening ceremonies. Called a few salons in the area but this was the only one that opened early and was willing to take my daughter in as a walk in. Pray was super sweet from the onset of the appointment. She did her braids so quickly and they looked absolutely beautiful. My daughter got so many compliments on her hairstyle. Paid a total of $45 which I consider to be reasonable given the last minute appointment. Over i was happy with the service provided by Pray and the quality of the braids. Definitely recommend her and will be coming back to her if I'm ever back in town. read more

I have been here before, when I first started coming it was for press and curl, I never saw growth .. so I switched Stylist and started getting braids. I like the braids and went a few times to see if I wld hve any change or growth in hair condition & nothing. On top of that i stopped going to my braider bcuz she canceled a few times and would push my times bck for her convenience and I'd always accommodate no problem, but one day I needed the same accommodation for only 10 mins I was gonna be late, and I was omw to my hair appt and she told me no she couldn't accommodate, so that was the last straw with her. I then decided to give this salon another chance and went bck again this time to Damien for an lace front installation, I had weave in the bck and a partial piece up top that needed to be glued. I won't lie i was satisfied with my styling. But it was a nightmare when I took it out about a month later, I came in to have weave and install taken out, and I was getting braids so I had my same braided whom I wS familiar with take it out. Once she had taken it all out, was when I cld actually see the real damage that was underneath and I was appalled absolutely furious!! To where I cld of went to jail. She then told me that he had put glue in places he shld not have, and she wondered why he did this.. I never had weave lace front installation so I didn't know either, but I do know I will never recommend or ever use this salon or it's services ever again!! I cld of taken it to court but I cut my losses because of how long it would of taken, and I knew it would be hard to prove. His word against mines. But I have pictures of my hair before installation and after and that speakes for itself idc what they try and say, I've never had bald damaged or uneven hair in my life. Please beware of this salon and this particular Stylist Damien, I do not believe he know what he was doing, dnt let just anyone or any place up in your head.. this is a valuable lesson for myself. And hopefully to many others, caution! I have attached pictures as well. I was a repeated client getting my natural hair done, to weaves, to braids. To install. But after that horrific experience with lace front and nearly going bald and two years of growing back my hair and damage salon had caused i never went bck for any services and to this day will not ever! read more

I have been coming and getting my hair right for over a month with Robyn. She ask me right up front "what we doing today?" "I want to grow my hair out" I'm a hair cutter and made the decision in March to grow my hair out. And we are doing just that. From day one she gets my hair on point! I schedule myself every two weeks through her receptionist, when I leave out the door I get a reminder via text message. And during the last week before my appointment date I get a text to confirm. I called one day prior to needing an appointment and spoke to Sundae. She was polite and was able to fit me into her schedule. The day of my appointment I was impressed with the professionalism. Staff was nice and inviting. Atmosphere was relaxing and the quality of work I saw by each stylist was refreshing. Sundae performed a maintenance on my wig and it turned out phenomenal. I was so impressed that I booked my following two week appointment. I have a new hair stylist and I'm ecstatic. I had an disappointing experience with stylist Tanya Strickland. Although she does style nicely, She has such a rude and sour disposition. She ruin my entire experience there. She also asked me inappropriate questions out loud in front of other customers that extremely embarrassed me. Because of her, I will not go back. I spent $230 in that salon too. Of course you would defend your employee poor attitude, Robyn. But as a business owner, (and leader), you need to show initiative by taking ownership of issues in your business. I am a retired Social Worker, (Child Protective Services), and I've always Sort the truth, found the truth, and speak the truth. I'm not lying about how I was treated by Tanya, your employee. Having rheumatoid arthritis is no excuse, and if she is sick she should not be working. Also I didn't need her to tell me about another Stylist in my area I'm intelligent enough to find one if I want another one in my area. I can't say enough great things about Robyn and her new establishment. First, the new salon is AMAZING! Robyn is a visionary and it not only shows in her hair styling but in the attention to detail with the decor of the salon. She has all new furniture, its bright, modern and clean. The staff is helpful and accommodating and there is a feeling of just all around great vibes. Some salons I have visited in the past, you get a since of cattiness or drama, especially when dealing with a bunch of women, but here there is no such feeling. A real place to go pamper yourself.
