I've been going to this place for years now... and I always love coming back here to get my eyebrows done! I recently moved out of state and I still swear by this place to do my eyebrows. I appreciate how particular and careful she is when threading my brows. She doesn't make you feel rushed and she's very patient. After she threads them, she'll use a tweezer to clean up your shape and then trim the length. She is AMAZING and I recommend her to everyone!!! read more

I used to go here for regular therapeutic massage and even though I have since found another place that's closer to home, slightly cheaper and slightly better, it deserves a review and it deserves you as a customer if you are in the area. Can't speak to the eyebrow waxing or anything else; though my wife used to go for that stuff and she liked the place (which is basically just the owner Cindy and all her machines) a lot, so if you're a woman and you're going for that kind of stuff you will be happy. Anyway, I can only speak to the massage...and it is great. I started going as soon as they opened since I need real massages for my back and not those...other types...of massages which Bensonhurst is famous for. Not that there's anything wrong with those types of places if you're a single uncommitted dude but--from what I hear--they don't give great massages (until the very end). Anyway, this place is a straight-up, legit spa that does massage, body wraps, hair plucking or whatever, facials and all that other stuff. When they first opened, I was happy to give them a try because, as I mentioned earlier, those other massage places don't give great massage but I was thinking that a real-deal spa might. And I was right! Back then they had Cindy (the owner) and two employees working there and I used to get massaged by one of the employees, Cat (Kat?). She was thick and matronly and used to wreck my back in the good way. Now, most groups of people in a given neighborhood--whether native or immigrant--tend to open more of a given type of business when they see the first one have success. This, of course, applies to Asians also but sadly, what happens in Asian neighborhoods is that they open A LOT MORE of the successful business AND they do it in the same neighborhood. Needless to say, this is not always good for the person who opened the first store (and it's probably not a great business practice for all the latecomers either--spread out dammit!!!) So as you might imagine, Bensonhurst soon got flooded with real-deal spas (on top of the other kind of spas of which we already had nine-thousand). When that happened, things slowed down at Water Beauty Spa and Cindy had to lay off her employees. I would have to start relying on her for my massage and at first I was worried that she wouldn't have quite the skill that the other woman had but she is just as awesome. The one thing I didn't like about this place was the massage table. It was slightly less comfortable than places I had been before and it is less comfortable than the place I go now. It's not bad, but around 45 minutes you will start to feel as if that hole (the one you put your head into) could have used a bit more cushion. Anyway, that's a minor gripe. Another minor gripe is the fact that since she's flying solo last time I checked, you may be interrupted from time-to-time by the phone or someone at the door. She'll come back and she'll apologize but...I would just hang a sign out that says "come back at whatever-o'clock" if I was with a customer. Kinda ruins the zen experience. Otherwise it's awesome. She's strong. She hits all the muscles and joints. She is symmetrical in her style (I hate when they do one technique on one side and don't do it, for an equal number of strokes on the other). I had a body scrub once there too (they had a 1 hour massage/half-hour body scrub special) and that was awesome. She rubs salt crystals all over you, exfoliating every last inch, then she hits you with some hot stones. It felt great. Also had a facial when they had the massage/facial special. That was painful and resulted in me breaking out. But I had never had one before so I think it was my virgin skin, not the technique or chemicals. All-in-all, Cindy is super-sweet and the place is super clean and has all the doo-dads for whatever you need done. And if it's a "real" massage, this is a great choice since she's strong and thorough. I almost regret having found someone closer to home that's a little cheaper but hey, competition benefits the consumer, right? But if you're in the nabe looking for good spa services at good prices, check Water Beauty Spa out. read more

This place is great. Cindy is sweet and very precise with her work. She takes a long time, but she does it because she wants perfection, which she does give! She was the first person I ever went to and even after taking my lashes off and crying myself to sleep I still go back. When I started going to her I went every week for a touch up. Too much glue ruined my lashes. I went to have them taken off and I was shocked. I remember Cindy telling me mine would be fine and they weren't. I was more than upset. I went to other places to just look and read a million reviews. Truth is, I went back and then I went every month or even 5 weeks for a "touch up" and now taking my lashes off isn't as horrible. I let them breathe and then I put them back on. She uses very little glue and my own lashes grew back. She isn't much of a talker, but I love her work and she finishes the job only when she does it right. Also, apart from other places she doesn't charge up the wall. A set is about $100 and a touch up is between $10 and $15. You can go for a touch up with the right plan a month and a half later and feel like you just had a fresh set put on. She is JUST THAT GOOD. I came here in August? September? (can't remember, but it was still summer) for a facial and massage. At the groupon price, one would think that it is worth it, but some things really are too good to be true. It's been a little journey for me to find a place that does good facials near me and I was really hoping this would be the place, but def not the case. The lady who worked on me was REALLY nice and she took her time doing the facial. What bothered me was that your facial lady was also your massage lady. One of my biggest no no's for massages are delicate hands. Someone who does facials has VERY delicate hands and this is what I find to be one of the downfalls of these 2 for 1 packages and what they advertise as "deep tissue", "swedish", or "massage." I'm sure she isn't trained to give a massage. I can't say it was very effective to get the knots out of my back, but it did give me a day or two of pain on my shoulders. There was not much pressure and it felt more like a rub down if anything. The times where I did feel the pressure was when she used her elbows on my back/shoulders, which actually hurt more than it felt relaxing. The facial was what I came here for. I got the massage first and was put into a room with a door. I remember when I turned over for my facial, the lady walked out and left the door open. I can clearly hear and see a man and woman through the door talking to one of the other workers (the wife was getting eyelash extensions for the first time and had A LOT of questions). I'm not shy or anything, but here I am just wrapped in a towel and doors wide open as if it was the norm. The lady did take her time doing the facial, but I didn't like being left with the steamer on for such a long time; it was suffocating. I also didn't like her extraction technique. It was both VERY painful and left my face a little "scratched up." I've gotten facials since I was a teen, and never have I ever been to a place that uses the tools and presses it down onto your face until it leaves marks. It was not a good technique and it was VERRRRRRY painful! The mask at the end was probably the best part of my visit. I fell asleep and the coldness of it soothed the pain from the extractions. When I got home, I noticed pieces of the mask still stuck in my hair, but I didn't care. I was just glad to be done with this and was mini freaking out about the scratches on my face from the tools. Luckily, after a week or so, the marks went away and I have not gone back since! I would not give this spa another try, but my one extra star is for the lady being really nice and taking her time! read more

This place is the worst . I am very unhappy with the service I was provided with . Went there for eyelashes left disappointed . The eyelashes were thin and looked awful and although the atmosphere was soothing the service sucked. i bought a groupon for a microdermabrasion and a chemical peel the lady did a horrible job stopped in the middle of the appointment to pick up a phone call that lasted a while and all the things you usually get with a microdermabrasion were included only as add one that you had to pay extra for. it was ridiculous never going there again my skin didn't even improve. read more

I went here for eyebrow threading, and the lady was very nice. It was quiet with no wait. My eyebrows were mostly even, though there were a few stragglers that I tweezed off after I got home. The sign posted out front said it was $5 for threading, but at the register I was asked to give $7. I was going to tip an extra $2 anyway, so I didn't say anything. So either the tip was added in or the price was raised. All in all, an ok experience for the $7 paid. read more

This place was good and worth the money! Used a Groupon for a 1hr European Facial and it turned out to be a 90 something minute facial. The lady spent extra time on my face because it needed it lol. Im actually surprised that this place has good reviews. I guess my suggestion is, if you got groupon, i would skip this place. Okay so i bought microdermabrasion with chemical peels. Very cheap. So i was like yeah why not. I knew it wasnt gonna be good from the moment i called to reserve. I called and all the lady said was "ok." I was like uh.. dont you need to ask for my name and time? But yeah i let it go. So i still went. First impression: not a spa where you can unwind and relax. It's a very cheap looking/unorganized place. But i was like hey i shouldnt judge the book by its cover, maybe the service would be good. Wrong. Lady was seeing a customer at the same time with me (makes sense that when i was making reswrvation, she didnt really care; they just wanted to squeeze in as many customers as possible). She kept rushing and going in and out of room, which btw was open. I could hear all the noise in the whole place. My aesthetician at one point was talking on the phone during my treatment. She did not have customer service manners at all. Everything was rushed. When i left, all she said was "finished," no thank you. She didnt even check me out or anything. She just went to see another customer. I waa gonna book for my next viait aince i already bought the package but no thank you. Never going back again. I guess thats how they treat people who bought groupon (then again i paid a cheap price). I was already expecting bad but what i experienced was worse. I LOVE this little spa. It's small, cozy, clean, and relaxing. Cindy is very kind and friendly, and she does the best eyelash extensions. I've been to many places but hers are the best and the cheapest. Actually, I've seen slightly cheaper prices, but Cindy does them better. She also gives good massages and does good waxing.
