They were recommended to me by my regular car service guy when my car needed transmission work. They told me up front that they didn't rebuild Subaru CVT transmissions but they were happy to put one in that I supplied. They checked the transmission out, replaced the seals and filter, installed and tested it. I had to drive 30 miles to get to their shop and if I had to drive 100 I would do that. The invoicing was absolutely flawless and I was charged exactly what was quoted. In fact, I paid less than quoted, considering the extra repairs done as a military discount! The warranty is very considerate and generous, right along the lines with what the dealership itself offered. Furthermore, I paid about $2,000 less than I was quoted by the Chevrolet dealership in Putnam, Connecticut. Upon getting into my vehicle I was blown away of the performance! My Chevy Impala drives like brand new with 155,000 mi on it and a brand new transmission and I am confident I could probably drive it another 155,000 miles or more! From the very beginning, I felt I was in good hands. Paulo, the manager, responded to my Yelp inquiry almost immediately. He was professional, kind, and attentive. He listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything in a clear, respectful way, something I truly appreciate. I felt a strong sense of trust that he genuinely cared about my car and my safety. When I arrived at the shop, Paulo was just as professional and kind in person. As a woman with limited knowledge, I wanted to be sure not to overpay, so I called a few places and East Coast Auto Repair offered to check my car out the next morning, which worked great for me. (I was right about the high quote from the dealership by almost $400.) I asked the person who greeted me at the shop if they had time to complete a thorough check of the car while they had it for my brakes and they did. Based on the positive reviews here, I took my automatic Honda Element with a jolting shift between…read morefirst and second gear to Manny's to be evaluated. The transmission worked fine otherwise, it just had a harsh shift between 1st and 2nd. They drove the car and determined that I needed a $3,200-3,500 rebuild. I did further research on this problem and found that a common issue was a bad 28260-PRP-014 Transmission Dual Linear Solenoid. A part that did not require removing the transmission as it bolted to the outside. I ordered a rebuilt one from Amazon for $50 and had my local mechanic install it for an hour of labor. Transmission is now good as new. Shifts smoothly in all gears. I rather doubt Manny has never heard of this problem as it affects Honda Civics, Accords, Pilots etc. I avoided being scammed by doing my own research. To be fair to Manny, another local transmission shop gave me the same advice and pricing. Buyer beware.
