    drunken noodle with chicken
    Tiffany D.

Located inside of a supermarket, this hidden local gem is must go. Not only does it offer many dishes, but theyre SUPER AFFORDABLE and STACKED with food. We got the crab fried rice (9/10) and the drunken noodles with chicken (8.5/10). Both dishes had giant portions for such a great deal (both less than $30 total). Have to come back again!! Service was relatively fast and there are seating indoors.

New Star Thai is very affordable decent Thai eats. It's the familiar Thai food greatest hits like : Noodles (Pad Thai/Pad See Eww), Curries, Soups, Fried Rice, Stir Fry. This food stall is run by an older friendly Thai couple. It's A-okay nothing stellar. My favorite thing here are the chicken noodle soup and they have a vegan noodle soup that's not bad. CASH ONLY!

Great affordable choice for Thai food! Got the $40 party tray and it was pretty good price had to be my favorite part. Fwd over 10 people with leftovers! Also got Thai tea which was only $2! Everything in this food court is great especially Star Thai, classic !

I was craving papaya salad, and I thought I would try the Salty Crab Papaya Salad. The idea sounds good, but when I tried it, the salad was a little too pungent with fish sauce, and the salt crab was just way too much for me to take. If I come back next time, I would just probably just get the regular papaya salad.

The food here offer great value for the price. The portions are generous, and you get authentic flavors without breaking the bank. For a casual meal, the prices are decent and affordable, making it a go-to spot for a tasty Thai fix on a budget. Crab Fried Rice was okay. Kinda bland but worth the price 7/10 Tom Yum Noodle Soup was okay also. They give a lot of noodles but not enough broth. Not spicy enough. 6/10 Cash only

A little mom and pop establishment that makes great Thai food. Prices are unbeatable and portions are very generous. My kid loves the pad see yew and I love their glass noodle salad. Orders usually take about 10-15 minutes to come out. You can browse other food stalls while you wait. This food court has lots of other options ranging from Vietnamese desserts stall to Chinese dumplings. Highly recommend for a quick and affordable meal.

CASH ONLY. Pad see ew was pretty bad. More like Chinese chow fun than anything else. Even then, it lacked flavor and was not memorable. I will not be back.

This is the thai restaurant located at the food court at The Square in Rosemead. We ordered pad thai and Tom yum, total was about 20 bucks. Took about ten minutes to come out. Great value and portions. I really liked the pad thai and I'd come back for that. I want to try their hainan chicken or fried rice dishes next time.

Food always good and tasty and reasonably priced for the portions given. It's my goto place for Thai food. Quite authentic.

First time trying New Star Thai. I've seen this food court restaurant any times while coming to shop at the GW Supermarket. I had the intention of trying their Mango Sticky Rice since I haven't tried that before, but they removed the item from the menu. During this visit, I tried the Chicken Pad Thai. I was curious to try something new and see if it could be my new regular spots. Currently the food court seating area has been dismantled so no dining in. Everything is take out. Opening opening the to go box I thought the amount of food was pretty decent. Lots of ingredients for sure and many different flavors. For the Pad Thai there's lots of vegetables, soft noodles, and finely crushed peanuts. If you have a nut allergy I do not recommend this noodle dish. Overall, it was tasty and for $8.50 for a box of noodles, it was decent. I'll probably come back to try their other dishes, especially their Mango Sticky Rice. For those of you who have not been to the food court inside The Square plaza, it's inside the store to your far left if you're entering from the main entrance. Parking is usually plentiful, however on weekends when most people do their shopping parking spots can fill up quickly.

Cheap Thai food at the food court. My niece and I wanted to grab something quick before going shopping. Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli ($8.50): not bad for the price. The taste was OK, but the pork skin got hard and chewy really fast. Chicken pad thai ($7.50): we were a little disappointed because the noodle was overcooked and greasy. The lady who took our order was nice, but her husband (?) was cranky. He didn't like the fact that I asked for another plastic bag since the sauce was all over the bag. QUICK TIP: LOCATED AT THE FOOD COURT INSIDE THE SQUARE PLAZA! 3 stars!! New Star Thai is almost yummylicious!!

The Yellow Curry is pure comfort food; the broth is incredibly rich, smooth, and aromatic, with perfectly cooked potatoes and veggies. On top of the great taste, the portion sizes are very generous. You definitely get your money's worth here, with plenty of food to leave you full (and probably take some home). Will definitely be ordering from here again! Highly recommend.

It's flavorful and Ong Choy is nice and crunchy. Definitely a great vegetable selection. Pad Thai: the sauce is way too heavy and sweet. We didn't enjoy this as much as we thought we would. The first taste was good, but the more you have the saltier/sweeter it gets. The lime juice didn't lighten things up either. Don't really recommend it. Crab fried rice: there's a good amount of crab and egg in this dish. The rice is on the softer side, it's not dry and hard like most fried rice. We still enjoy it, the texture of the rice didn't kill the flavor of it. The flavor is very balanced, but quite oily. Tom yum seafood soup: There's a good amount of seafood in this soup. The flavor (sweet and sour) is well balanced. Sweet rice with mango: A great dessert option to finish the meal. It is not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but the coconut is not distinctly sweet and overwhelming (so I was able to have some). The sweet rice is chewy and warm when served. And the mango is perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely recommend it. The service was outstanding! The restaurant decoration is very traditional and unique. They are quite busy when we arrived on a Sunday night. I would give this place an overall 3.5/5 because they can definitely work on some of the dishes.

I moved to the SGV a little over a year ago and I have been sorely disappointed by offerings this nook of LA county has to offer *ahem banana bay*. I found myself driving to the SFV or Thai Town whenever I was too lazy to cook Thai food on my own. I decided to take a gamble with this restaurant and I am so very glad that I did. It's so good and authentic that I have come out of yelp retirement (Yelp Elite 2016-2020) to leave this review. I ordered four things as take out: Issan Sausage, Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken, Spicy Fried Crispy Cat Fish, and Drunken Noodles. I was told that they were out of the Kra Pow Century Egg and stewed pork leg over rice. Hopefully, I'll get to try it next time! Issan Sausage: Good portions. Flavor is very good, a little sour, a little salty, and a hint of sweetness. I think the flavors could be a bit more bold with the sour but overall the flavors profile is as it should be. Frying it also added a nice crispiness to it. Spicy Fried crispy Catfish: Flavors were really good. Sweet foods is typically not usually in my flavor profile, but this is one of the few sweet entrees I actually like. Catfish can be a bit more fried but that is moreso a preference on my part. Drunken Noodle Beef: Good char on the noodles. Flavor was really good as well. Not that much beef but the star of the show are the noodles. I was a tad confused on the egg in my drunken noodle but to each their own. I would probably order it without the egg next time because it does change the texture a bit. Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken: Now here's where it gets interesting! Tantawan actually uses holy basil (Kra Pow). It's harder to find but it has a very distinct flavor that Thai-American cuisine has for the most part substituted due to scarcity with Thai Basil (Horapha). I don't think you can get more authentic than actually using the right herb. Funnily enough, I think it can throw off people that have never had authentic Kra Pow as my partner said it tasted herbally. Thai food can be very hit and miss even among the Thai community as we all have different preferences when it comes to the holy trinity of sweet, salty, and sour. I am personally on the spectrum of sweet should be hinted at and never the forward flavor. Tantawan with the dishes I ordered definitely held to my flavor profile. Very well cooked and good flavor profile. I didn't have to add any seasoning as everything was cooked just right. I called my take out in and they said it would be ready in 20 and it was when I arrived. Even as the food sat in my passenger seat as I drove home I could tell from the smell emanating from the take-out bag that the food was going to be good. Quick and courteous service!

The papaya salad was incredible and had the perfect amount of sauce. It wasn't too sour & had the right amount of sweetness. The tom kha soup was extremely flavorful & came with a plentiful shrimps. My only complaint is that some of the mushrooms in the soup were undercooked. The cream cheese wontons had the perfect amount of crunch and crispiness. The chicken satay was cooked to perfection! I was genuinely impressed since most places that make this usually overcook their chicken making it extremely dry. The crab fried rice had a nice wok hey flavor and was very light. To top our meal off, we got the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were very sweet and ripe. The rice they paired with it was a bit too hot for my liking. Overall, I would definitely come back! This is such a beautiful area that I wish there were more life and foot traffic here. A restaurant like Dancing Spoons is well worth the visit, and should be frequented more by folks. The Pad Kee Mao was perfectly medium spicy. Sometimes the spiciness is dulled but this place does it properly. Noodles were also flavorful, perfectly textured with nicely salted eggs. This was kind of the ideal Pad Kee Mao plate! The Khao Soi also was a burst of flavor. The broth was so good. The noodles were a tad bit soft, prob due to the fresh and steaming hot broth, but I felt every bite towards the end had that jam-in-your-face quality. The server was super nice and accommodating.
