After the job was complete, the owner asks me the price we agreed on and I told him $30. He goes into a crazy tantrum saying how he would never accept the job for so low and tried to charge me $80. I argued back saying how he told me twice $30 and we settled on $40 cash only. There was faulty airbag sensor found during the dent job, but after this experience, I decided to not continue with their services. The mechanic did a good job, but I would not come back.

I took my girlfriend's car here because it was having a weak-start issue. I called the day before to ask about dropping the car off and spoke with a woman on the phone. When I dropped the car off, I spoke with the SAME woman in person. Neither time did she mention ANY $200 diagnostic fee. Then I get a call from her saying they determined it was the battery, along with a receipt sent to my phone. But she also admitted they hadn't checked the rest of the car yet and wouldn't be able to do that until after they installed a new battery. At that point I told her I wanted to think about it because I could get the battery myself. She said okay. Still ZERO mention of a $200 diagnostic fee. I found the battery somewhere else and decided I didn't want them doing the repair, so I called back and said I was coming to pick up the car. Now suddenly a MAN answers the phone, puts me on hold, and comes back with: "Just so you know, there's a $200 charge." EXCUSE ME??? So you're telling me about a $200 charge AFTER I've already decided not to move forward? Why wasn't this disclosed when I called? Why wasn't it disclosed when I dropped the car off? Why wasn't it disclosed when I was told what they supposedly found? And here's what makes this even worse: their own website clearly states that diagnostic fees are usually under $100. Yet I'm suddenly being told I owe $200, and the receipt they sent me didn't indicate ANY $200 diagnostic fee or disclose that I would be charged $200 if I chose not to proceed with repairs. If there is a $200 diagnostic fee, TELL THE CUSTOMER UPFRONT. Don't wait until they decide not to use your repair service to suddenly bring up a $200 charge. I have a background in vehicle repair, so I know enough to know when something doesn't sit right. The whole situation felt extremely shady, and I'm posting this so other people can be aware. Up front about pricing, they put thought into giving you the most value. Never had a service tech apologize up front for the cost of a repair... a couple of years ago they basically replaced my entire suspension (Chicago streets....) and service tech suggested to reduce the cost to only replace the worst components right now and delay some less critical components for 6 months because they could last a little longer. I asked him to just replace everything right now. But again, when's the last time a tech put thought into balancing cost vs value for you? Can't recommend the entire team at that garage, enough.
