I walked in without an appointment on Valentine's Day & was taken right away ( I know I got lucky and they're usually busy) Judy took care of me ( gel manicure ) and although it was a different process the end result was pleasant! I rated 4 stars because it took longer than I would've hoped , and she did one nail at a time which was annoying to put my hand in an out vs just do the whole hand and stick it into the machine. I only saw the reply to the review now. So let's elaborate, shall we?? I never complained that the services were too expensive. And when I came on the weekend, I didn't pull all of the nails out. They CAME OUT ON THEIR OWN. I work at a veterinary clinic and I need my nails to be sturdy since sometimes I may need to assist with inserting catheters and such. I had a NAIL fall into a sterile field TWO DAYS after getting them done. I requested you to put a color on top because you said the only thing you wanted to do was put the clear plastic tips on and send me home. I never complained about pricing with you except for this one time. I always treated the staff with respect and never caused you any problems. And also, you never spent "three hours" on me. I've been going to a Ukrainian lady ever since, and she charges DOUBLE your pricing. However, my nails stay on for a month and a half, and I do not need to BEG HER TO CLEAN MY CUTICLES!!!!!!! And also, she makes sure the nails are nice and smooth and actually look like what I paid for. Not to mention my friend who ALWAYS CAME with me had her nails looking like crap every time she left your salon. Her fingers bled, the polish was chunky and smudged, she left your salon crying numerous amounts of times and didn't say anything because she didn't want to be rude. Do better. read more

Can't say enough about sister nails. I've been going here for about 7 years. The owners Wayne & Nina are so accommodating and personable With their clients. The nail technicians are all very good. I especially like Kiki and Ivy. The place is clean and they have a nice selection of nail polishes, more gel colors as I have a traditional manicure and pedicure but I prefer being treated well over all and they make their costumers feel just that. I usually do not post anything on yelp but I feel like I have to. If I could give 10 stars for service and 10 stars for hospitality and 10 stars for cleanliness I would. I am super picky about my nails and Nina and Wayne make me feel great. They don't rush me and they make sure that I am beyond satisfied with my nails. I used to go there and was alway pleasantly pleased but now being a mommy of 2 young children it's hard for me to go as often as I used to or as often as I would like. As soon as I waked in they took me right away. It was like no time passed....Wayne and Nina couldn't of been nicer. Wayne did my nails and pedicure and let me tell you AMAZING. Someone else did my eyebrow wax and I'm lovin my eyebrows. I did something new with my nails called nextgen. It's a color dip powder process....no uv lights no drying under fans...air dry can u imagine. Wayne took the time to explain everything to me. They are supposed to last 3 weeks and I believe it. Prices are super reasonable. The nails would of cost me $35 but because I wanted them extended it cost me $45...my pedicure cost $16 and my eyebrow wax $7.....this is forever my go to place when I can go. If u are looking for a super clean super friendly nail salon where you won't break the bank and walk out feeling like a million bucks I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!! So initially I went to the salon next door, but after they burned me with hot wax one too many times, and since they only ever had one manicurist, it seemed to make perfect sense try out Sister Nails. It is now about eight years that I've been a loyal customer. Even after I moved from the neighborhood to Sheepshead Bay, I still make the trek over there. Not only are they great with mani/pedis, but also with any waxing. I have thick unruly eyebrows that are hard to tame, but they manage very well. They give a proper shape without making me look too old or perpetually surprised. Their stations are clean, their work is precise and prices are fair. If you're skeeved out by using nail files used by others, then you can purchase a nail kit just for yourself. And you can keep it at the salon, so you don't have to worry about bringing it every time. Aldo, I find that the only male worker/ business owner there is the best with nails. (He's actually an artist, which is probably why he's so great with a brush). But yes, I'm a fan. I've recommended a TON of people to them, and they're always just as pleased. I actually got my acrylic nails done from California but broke my thumb nail while on vacation in New York and needed a repair desperately for my cousins wedding. The repair that they did was horrible. It was thick, and they did not shave it down. The technician knew that it was off but did not bother fixing it. I understand that every salon, nail technician have their own technique, but I feel that they showed a lack of effort in trying to match it with the other nails. I hadnt had my nails done in a while and i was excited. They held up well (aside from the day one mishap that i fixed with crazyglue) but the shaping was a bit off. So while the beginning of my French tip and manicure was starting out quite lovely. It however turned into a nightmare half way. The lady wouldn't let me look at my own nails, I literally had to rip my hands out of hers, being that I am very precise. She was very rude but she really couldn't care any less! NEVER AGAIN! I see that most of the reviews are from couple of years back. My horrible experience with this salon is pretty recent though I have been their customer for at least 2-3 years. I always leave good tips. This time I came in without an appointment, however I was told by the owner herself ( Nina) that she had time to do my nails. As we proceeded, she was very inattentive, pressed very hard with the instruments while working on the cuticles and even when I cringed from discomfort she did not even say sorry. She would frequently get interrupted and get up to take phone calls, which in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous. I also second the other reviewer that color selection is quite poor and most of the nail polishes are outdated. Nina was rushing, did not remove the cuticles well, skipped several nails while I was talking to the lady next to me, as if I did not notice. The gel itself was placed on my nails very poorly, leaving bubbles and little black dots underneath the layer of the color ( I did a light color so you could see extra particles that aren't supposed to be there). When I asked her why the black dots are under the gel she simply overlooked it, by saying that it's "nothing". Back 2 years ago the service was great and quality of the manicure was much much better, but not anymore. It seems as they got more customers they don't keep up their mark anymore, instead rushing for quantity rather than quality. I was extremely disappointed with the owner herself, who did my nails. It's unacceptable to do this when you are the main representative of your salon. I will never come back to this place and I even regret leaving her a tip. PS Two years ago my mom got a toe fungus infection from this place which took months and months of treatment. She lost all of her nails at that time but thankfully they regenerated with time. In 2012, I was a regular customer here and was mainly going for acrylic nails. The place is very clean which was very important to me but since time when I changed my salon (not really telling them that), my nail technical stopped saying "hi" to me. I was going to come back for waxing and eyebrows, but after that kinda treatment could not dive in that discomfort. Very poor work etiquette. PS. Why the one star? Let me start off with the service was horrible and the staff was rude. My friend and I went there for the first time today and we will never be going back. My friend got her daughter a manicure and they were mad that she wanted her nails cleaned. They were laughing at her when she asked to clean them. Than my friend and my gel manicure sucked.. Our colors were so light and when we asked for another coat of nail polish they were slapping our hands and rolling there eyes. the best part is my nails already chipped! So I recently moved to this neighborhood and I've been looking for a nail salon that suits my needs and wants. I tried several places but this place is by far the best. Not only is the owner and employees cooperative, they are also very helpful. Right when I walked in, I knew this was the place for me. The place is clean, efficient, and fast. The employees are very hard working and are cleaning the tables and chairs all the time. The employees there help me take out my inner nail of my big toe.
