I don't know why people are sleeping on this place cause it's so good every time we go there. We've gotten so many things over the years and everything has always been delicious and very affordable. What a disappointment. Let's start with the cheeseburger. I have never been charged for raw onions but what's a burger without onions so I paid the extra fifty cents. All they put were two rings from the center of the onion. Not even a full slice. I asked for medium cooked. It was so dry that it kept getting stuck in my throat. We also ordered a meatball parm hero. The meatballs were three tiny, flavorless balls of meat. They threw two slices of mozzarella cheese on it. The cheese still had the chill from the fridge. Ordered delivery from this location. My Philly cheese steak order came fresh and hot. Presentation of my sandwich was nice especially with the fresh made panini grill marks. Just ordered breakfast from uber eats. It was disgusting. The toasted bagel (which I never ordered toasted) was like a soggy lenders bagel. With little to no cream cheese just a hot soggy bread bagel filled with scallions and way too salty bacon. This is my favorite deli of all of the delis around. It has a nice clean feel and many options. If you go in, they sell lots of drinks, snacks, and household goods. During my years as a Jasper, toxicology reports suggest that I was made up of 1/4 pizza, 1/4 Belly Bomber, and 2/4 assortment of booze and 99 cent Iced Tea. From the epic sandwich selection, I never met a hero I didn't like. For example, the Zoolander (my favorite) rocks my mouth piece with chicken cutlets, melted mozzarella cheese and bacon. Then it's slathered with beef gravy and dumped on a hero roll soaked in garlic sauce. For breakfast, you have the choice of a Belly Bomber, Super Belly Bomber, or Super Dooper Belly Bomber. The Super Dooper Belly Bomber should be reserved for special occasions or extraordinary hangovers, as it consists of three eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, and cheese on a hero. Complete your order with a good soaking of hot sauce. The ideal Sunday should start with a Belly Bomber and end with a Zoolander. If you don't live up here, I know what you are saying, "It's too far away." Next time you are leaving the city on the Major Deegan or coming back, hop off exit 11 for a quick bite. 6am to Midnight, pretty much the hours I'm awake, and when I'm staying on Waldo Ave this is my spot for pretty much everything. From that morning coffee and bagel to that late night sandwich and a pale ale, I spent too much money here last time I was in the Bronx. The big tables and flatscreen where they love baseball and sportscenter are a nice touch. The Hero's are priced right and there are many other options like wraps and panini's for us vegetarian's too. My fried egg Hero in the morning could use some more salt and pepper but the fast friendly service from the cashier dude is wonderful and he makes the best "light and sweet" coffee. BTW they have boar's head meat and cheese to take away so I think this is no bodega I'd have to say this is the best deli in the hood. read more

This place serves low-end grub, so I try to stick to the bare basics when I've ordered from here. I figure it's pretty hard to fuck up french fries or a salad, but I guess I was wrong. Last night I arrived home too late to order from my regular spots in Riverdale, and decided (although begrudgingly) that I would order from here through Grubhub. Some of the workers have VERY limited English so I wouldn't dare call and place an order over the phone. I went online and ordered what I wanted and received a text message at 10:15pm confirming my order, and was told that the delivery time would be between 11:00pm - 11:10pm. I was already doing a double take because the deli is just a short 5 minute drive from my residence and one of the items I ordered required no prep at all, but it was cold out and I didn't feel like schlepping over there so I said ok fine... 45 minutes to an hour roughly.... I'll be patient and wait. At almost 11:00pm, I received another text from Grubhub pushing the order back to 11:10pm to 11:20pm. Once 11:20pm came and went, I then contacted Grubhub via chat to inquire about my order since it was over an hour and I was tired and hungry. I was told the order was on its way and would arrive around 11:30pm. 11:30pm came and went, and I eventually started to fall asleep. The order did not arrive until almost midnight... Almost TWO hours after I placed the order. I was so tired that I didn't even confront the guy, and since I had dealt with the delivery guy before I knew that complaining to him wouldn't do any good since I don't think he speaks much if any English anyway. The real kicker was my food was cold, and I had already tipped via Grubhub in advance, so I felt even more violated. Aside from this, another habit that this place has (which also occurred last night) is if you order something and they are out of it, they don't have the courtesy to call and ask what you would like in its place. Instead they give you whatever THEY WANT even though you're paying for it. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm actually considering disputing this charge with my card company that's how irritated I am about this. It's a shame too because there are a few other delivery guys here that work hard and are professional, but there is one guy who is a complete asshole... Arrives late and then hurries you along as if you are taking too much of his time as he practically shoves the delivery bag in your face. I advise everyone to do yourself a favor and just go to sleep hungry if you can tolerate it or brave the elements and go to another spot in the area. It sucks that most of the convenient spots near me close so early, but going forward I will not be ordering from this place again, regardless of the circumstances. Whoever the owner is, he or she needs to get a clue about customer service. I was happy that this place had extended hours, but now I could care less, and if anything, I would be just happy to see this place closed down for good. You know I really wanted this place to be great - they have a wonderful selection of food, some groceries, and juices, but I walked away thinking it's about average. They is nothing wrong with average and if you live or work in the area is a great option for a quick snack or some least minute shopping. The menu is quite expansive for a place of this size and they have all kinds of breakfast and lunch sandwiches available. The also have a coffee bar and a juicer so you don't have to just feet a sandwich. All of the meat is from their deli so you can also just buy that to take home with you. The vast majority was Boar's Head so IG you don't like that brand you will be out of luck. The guys behind the counter were very nice and willing to make any change to the sandwich without charging crazy amounts for it. They also seemed to know quite a few people who came in and out so it really does feel like a community place. They are only a few tables at the front where you can sit to drink your coffee or eat your sandwich but it seems like most people took it to go. I think maybe it was the quality of the bread and cheese that was underwhelming. I'm not sure, but it was still an overall good experience. Food is alright, but way over priced for what you get, and if you order for delivery it will most likely come cold, and they'll probably forget something from your order. I live two blocks away and ordered for delivery, and I got it over an hour later, with 1/3rd of my order missing. If you order an iced coffee with cream, it'll be about 1/4th cream, 1/4th coffee, 2/4th ice that quickly melts to water. Don't buy ice cream here, because it is obvious they leave it out to fully to melt then refreeze it so it's very grainy. I think they do the same with their milk because I bought a half gallon on Nov 7th, with the sell by date Nov 10th. When I opened it the next day at home it was absolutely spoiled. If you want deli food, just go to Jasper Deli down the block or a deli one block up on riverdale ave, and if you want any grocery type items just walk up 3 blocks to key food. read more
